Overall pleased

Overall this wasn't a waste of time for me. I thought the story was developed well and the characters (apart from originally being the Twilight fan-fiction it was) were well developed and thought through. The ending was a shocker, which I was pleased with. At time it could lose my interest but could also very quickly grab it again.

Content / Style / Audience

I had heard about the novel and into the first 15 pages I was becoming bored and uninterested. I am glad I kept reading, because by the time I got to the cliff hanging ending (no I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it) I was very into the overall storyline.

I would say the book is geared more towards middle aged audiences, since most of the characters are between 20's and 40's. It is readable by anybody, though if you are going to read the book thinking its bad, you are probably not gonna get the best experience out of it.

The overall storyline is about a rich guy who has a thing for an overall average girl. He has "issues", so to say, with his past. She, like any other girl, is attracted to the rich man. The storyline does develop well and, though parts can be boring, for the most part it keeps you on your toes. If you are a Twilight fan, you will probably be able to see the similarities, since the book began as a fan fiction of Twilight.

I am no perfect grammar student, but as I began reading it I did notice the grammar and wording was a bit off. It wasn't enough to bother me, but it did catch me off guard.

I thought the scenes had quite the detail, and kept my mind very vivid with images. I can't say I know much of the BDSM community but it did seem, from the main characters view, a bit negative in the beginning.

Design

As an artist I was happy with the cover and color of the book. The tie on the front was a nice reference and I loved the fact it was the tie with the black background (I'm very fond of books covers with black backgrounds. I believe it makes the object stand out more).

Experience

As I read it, I was very happy I had gotten it for Christmas, and was pleased enough to ask for the second and third books. The thought of whips and chains at first made me queasy, just in general. After reading this I can't say I'm an overall fan but see it as something I'd be more willing to try, and even see as a bit of a turn on. I'm glad I read it, especially with an open mind and got something out of it. I would recommend it to anyone who just wants to take a peek at the big deal or to read a vividly erotic book.

Another plus (which I don't think all books have in them) was that there was a passions party card to use for a bookmark when I received it!
