Stop over analyzing and just read their story.

I liked the fact that it got the word out about the BDSM Lifestyle, that this book is making "vanilla" people think about kink. However, I do not like the fact that this book is basically saying that if you live a BDSM Lifestyle, that you must have been damaged at some point. This is simply not true.

extremely useful review
I really enjoyed "Fifty Shades of Grey", for it's hot sex scenes, for the fact that it brings out the BDSM Lifestyle into the "vanilla" world, and for the fact that I have never read a book that touched so close to home.

I live a BDSM Lifestyle, so I saw the good, the bad, and the ugly in this book. Yes, if I were to analyze it, I would say that I do not like the undertones that those involved in BDSM must have been "damaged goods" at some point in their life; specifically early childhood. It very well could have been for "Christian Grey", and could be true for other people in the lifestyle; but it is not true for all of us. I am hoping that the next books in the series will delve more into the normality of the BDSM Lifestyle.

However, this is fiction...not only is it fiction, but it is a "Romance Novel" no matter what angle you look at it. So I don't need to analyze it, I just need to read it and enjoy their story. I like being a fly on their wall and watching their steamy sex scenes. This is not a true story, there is no need to analyze it; or over analyze, as most people are doing. Just read it and enjoy the thrill; the ups, the downs and "Oh My", the orgasms!

I hear from so many other people in a BDSM Lifestyle, that they were offended by this book. I just don't see it. I liked the scenes, I loved the explanation of the different toys and the story made me HOT. THAT, my friends, was the point of the book. This book was not written to make us look bad, it was not written to offend people. It was written, because nothing else like this has been written, and because people like to be a fly on the wall of relationships they will never be in. They like to see into lives that they will never have a chance of living, and they love reading about a beautiful woman, meeting the man of her dreams and living happily ever after, no matter how fucked up that relationship looks to other people, they are happy; and I loved reading about it.

The ending of this book is not what I was expecting, however, since there is a book two and three, you know that things change. This is a book you really don't want to miss out on.
