I'm gonna eat you up!

System Jo's Dona body lotion is part of their natural and aphrodisiac infused body care line. The lotion, available in six "scents", is light weight and long lasting. Though the scent doesn't last too long on skin, clothing will pick up the scent, allowing you to smell good all day long.

Use

Dona body lotion is part of System Jo's aphrodisiac infused natural bath and body line. While I don't think any of the products actually live up to the aphrodisiac claim, they contain no petrochemicals, phthalates, sulfates, triclosan, or parabens. The Dona body lotion is suited more for people who prefer lighter weight lotions or have oily skin. Dona also has a body butter for those with drier skin or who prefer thicker body products. While I didn't have any adverse reactions to the product, it is always wise to check out the ingredient list to make sure there isn't something you would have a reaction to. Because of the fragrance, this product is best kept away from naughty bits. It is also suited for body moisturizing rather than facial use.

The ingredients on the Camu Camu bottle are:
Purified Water, Heptyl Undecylenate, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oil, Propanediol, Saccharide Isomerate, Caffeine, Maltodextrin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta Glucan, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Algae Oil, Passion Fruit (Passiflora Edulis) Seed Oil, Rice Bran (Oriza Sativa) Oil, Açaí (Euterpe Oleracea) pulp Oil, Babassu (Orbignya Oleifera) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Myrciaria Dubia (Camu Camu) Fruit Powder, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The Dona body lotion is smooth and creamy, with no grit, grains or any other texture. Its consistency reminds me of thin yogurt. The product pumps easily from the pump top and doesn't feel sticky or greasy. It is a bit thin and runny, so it will run down skin or out of the hand very easily.

The photos above show a small dollop on my skin. In the first, I tried to leave my arm horizontal, but it was already running a bit. After turning my arm vertically, the product begins to run. The third picture is after gently smearing the lotion around on my skin. The last picture is after rubbing it in quickly. It absorbs fully and doesn't leave any residue.

Taste / Aroma

As with all the other Dona products, the "scent" name simply indicates the aphrodisiac it is infused with, not its actual scent. I have noticed from other reviews that not everyone will agree on what each "scent" smells like. While some may describe the scent in somewhat similar terms, it seems that everyone will pick up different tones and scents. As for the Camu Camu scent, my mother said it smelled like "old lady perfume". To me, the Dona Camu Camu scent smells like play dough and those shortbread cookies in tins or cardboard boxes that are available during the winter holidays. I personally kind of like the smell of play dough, and I of course like those shortbread cookies. Either way, to me, Camu Camu smells warm, vanilla-ish, and sugary like cookies.

After rubbing the lotion into my skin, the "play dough" smell dissipates after a few minutes and I'm left with the "cookie" smell. It does also remind me of the smell of snicker-doodle cookies, which, again, isn't a bad scent. The scent does not last all day. After several hours, I really had to sniff my skin to smell it. However, the next day, I could smell the lotion on the clothes that I had worn the previous day. The overall strength of the smell isn't overwhelming and shouldn't bother anyone even with mild scent sensitivities.

This product is meant for external use only, do not ingest. I didn't taste this, neither should you.

Performance

Though the Dona body lotion is thinner and runnier than your average body lotion, it performs just as well. I only needed small amounts of the product for each body part as it spread very easily. The more product you use, the longer it takes to rub in, so it's better to start with a small amount and add more if needed.

After a shower, I applied it all over my body and it left my skin very soft and supple all day long. My skin did not feel greasy at all and it absorbed very quickly. I also rubbed it into my hands and, after one hand washing, my hands were still soft and did not need a reapplication. But I have noticed that with this lotion (and the body butter as well), that that will depend on how dry your skin it to begin with. When I applied the product to very dry hands, I needed to reapply after one washing. If my hands weren't that dry to begin with, two washes warranted a reapplication.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Long lasting

Packaging

The Dona body lotion bottle holds 8.5 oz and comes with a convenient pump top lid; I have not noticed any clogging or leaking of the pump top. The label is a coral color with a dark red lace print over top. The label lists the product name, "scent", manufacturer, brief product benefits and instructions, addresses for System Jo, and ingredient list. Although the front says "an aphrodisiac infused ritual", the entire bottle is discreet and can be left out in plain sight. The pump can be reinserted back into the bottle to prevent leaking during travel, but of course that will leave you with a handful of product. Simply pumping some of the product into a smaller, travel friendly bottle will work better. The bottle is also nice enough for gift giving.

Experience

Other than the body wash, I've been really enjoying all the Dona products I've tried. The lotion is no exception. While it is thinner than other lotions I use, it still performs very well. Using this in the morning after a shower, it leaves my skin very soft all day long. Upon waking the following day, my skin still felt very soft, though there was no scent left. But I did notice that the clothing I had previously worn the day before still carried the Camu Camu scent.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the Dona body lotion. Though it is a bit more expensive than any other lotion I would buy, it performs very well. I'm definitely interested in getting this in the Blue Lotus "scent".
Follow-up commentary
I absolutely love this lotion! I use it everyday; after showering, on my hands and elbows after hand-washing, etc... The bottle is emptying a little quicker than I would have liked, but that's because I use this all the time. The Camu Camu has definitely become my favorite of the Dona scents and I'll be buying more of this lotion in the future.
