Is that a vibrator in your pillow, or are you happy to see me?

This pillow is a creative solution for those that need a well-hidden spot to stash toys, condoms, or anything else small. It's a cool alternative to the standard boxes and pouches, but can be a little hard to close and seems a bit expensive.

extremely useful review
Whether you have just one vibrator in your nightstand or a hundred hidden in boxes under the bed, everyone needs a place to store their toys, preferably one that's convenient to the bed. The Hide Your Vibe Zipper Pillow by Sportsheets offers a convenient, discrete hiding place for you toys, lube, or anything else you may want out of sight.

This pillow is perfect for someone who lives in a dorm, with roommates or parents and needs a hiding spot that’s not going to stand out. It looks like a throw pillow, so unless someone picks it up, they aren’t going to notice that it is any different from any other pillow.

The nice part of this being a pillow instead of a box or pouch is that you can keep it right on the bed without it being out of place, so if you need to stop mid-action to grab condoms, lube or a toy, you aren’t suddenly digging under the bed or in the closet, you can just reach over and unzip the pillow. (This obviously isn’t so helpful if you’re gettin’ it on in the shower or on the table or anywhere else, but I think it’s fair to say that most of us spend at least a fair percentage of time in the bed!)

This pillow is also great for travel! Hotel housekeepers are totally used to guests bringing their own pillows, so your maid isn’t likely to think anything is odd if you leave this on the bed. If you’re flying, you may want to make sure it is empty first, though, to avoid freaking out any security screeners, since it may look like you’re trying to conceal something.

The pillow measures 12” x 12” by about 7" thick. The outside is made of black faux fur. The plus side of this is that being black, it doesn’t draw a lot of attention to itself, but it almost might not match your bedroom decor very well. Although EdenFantasys only carries the black, I checked out the Sportssheets website, and it also comes in animal prints (leopard, tiger and giraffe) as well as red and pink. I really wish we had those options!

The inside of the pillow is lined with soft white fabric that I can’t quite identify, but is smooth and almost plasticy, so if you have leaky lube in there, it is still going to get into the stuffing, but at least you won’t have fuzz sticking to your toys. It does seem like storing toys in this cool, dark place might cause bacteria to breed, so I’d suggest making sure your toys are nice and clean before putting them in, and washing the pillow on a regular basis. I didn’t notice any kind of smell from the pillow at all.

The pillow arrives with an attached tag that calls it “the second best place for your vibe”, which I think is pretty funny. The pillow is pretty firm, and a little heavier than what I’d expect from a throw pillow this size. The fur on the outside is soft but not velvety soft. When the pillow is closed, you can barely see the zipper, which is great so it doesn’t call extra attention to itself. I found my zipper pretty easy to open, but I really had to struggle to close it, even with the pillow empty.

So, how much can you actually fit inside the pillow? I was able to fit three medium to large sized vibrators (think your basic Rabbit) with enough room left over for some condoms and lube or a small bullet or two. It felt kind of overstuffed like that, though, so I think the best use for this would be for 3-4 small items.

The other main thing I was wondering when looking at the item online was how obvious it would be that it was full of stuff when it was, well, full of stuff. If you just have some condoms, lube and a bullet in here, you aren’t really going to be able to tell, even if you pick it up. If you stuff it full like I did, you can feel things poking out a bit, and it is obviously heavy, but you still don't really see bumps.

One side of the pillow seems to have more stuffing between the outside and the inside pocket than the other side, and when I had it full, I found that if I laid my head on the fluffier side, I couldn’t really feel the stuff inside, but on the less stuff side I could. It wasn't super comfortable when full, but I could sleep on it in a pinch.
Experience
At $30, I think this is an okay value but not great. Yes, you could technically stick a ziplock baggie of supplies inside any pillow with a zipper, but what makes this one different is that the pocket for toys is padded by the pillow material, so unless you stuff it super full, you aren’t going to have odd lumps and bumps protruding from your pillow.

At first I was a little bummed that there was no way to lock the pillow, but I just don’t think that would even be possible while still being discreet. Plus, most people who see something locked instantly start wondering what’s so special it is being kept under lock, so the absence of one helps this to look more ordinary.

The only real con I found is that my zipper is really hard to close, I keep thinking it is going to break when I try. It is pretty easy to open, but closing seems like I need 3 extra hands, or some serious muscles.

There are non-sex uses for this too, of course. One thing that comes to mind is going to the beach or water park and needing a place to leave your car keys, cell phone, etc when you’re not on your beach towel. Similarly, you could use it to stash extra cash and copies of your travel documents when traveling, since a thief probably wouldn’t go for your pillow. If you really, really need to get up at a certain time, you could even stick your alarm clock inside, since you’d then need to be awake enough to unzip it to hit snooze.
Follow-up commentary
My cat decided that this fuzzy little square was HIS pillow shortly after I first reviewed it, so I haven't actually used it that much. However, it was starting to look more cat fur than faux fur, thanks to his naps, so I finally decided to wash it and see how it held up.

There are no care instructions, so I decided to try washing it on the gentle cycle with some of my other bedding. I removed the pillow from the zippered cover before tossing both in the laundry, and then dried everything on delicate. I'm not sure if it was the wash or dry that messed up the pillow, but it has some shape issues now! It was originally basically a pillow with a hollow spot in the middle, but at some point in the wash or dry cycle, it twisted itself about and is now a pillow with a fabric pocket on one side- the stuffing moved all to one side, I think? I tried to smoosh it back into shape with no success. It still works, but now there's no padding on one side to disguise the contents of the pillow.

So, if you plan to wash this, I'd suggest either hand-washing the inner pillow or leaving it inside the case to wash. The pillow case came out fine, but the wash didn't get the cat fur off at ALL, so you might want to keep a lint roller handy if you have pets!

Having a grey and white cat myself I can feel the pain of the cat claiming pillows. What I normally try to do is a combo of lint roller and lint brush. The lint brush will take off a good bit, but not all, making it only take one sheet from the lint roller for that size (depending on how much is shed)
