Gun oil - lubricant discontinued by Empowered Products - review by Pixel

I'm the first person to admit that I am a bit of a hippie, and prefer my lubes to be all natural. However, I've discovered that silicone lubes can be absolutely amazing, and this is my favourite that I have tried so far.

Gun oil doesn't have a whole lot of ingredients. It also doesn't have any parabens or glycerine, which makes my boyfriend and I happy. He is allergic to parabens, which we discovered the hard way one evening. I'm really sensitive to them as well, and glycerine gives me yeast infections, so it's always nice to have lube options that both of us can use without having a bad reaction.

The ingredient list is really short: Dimethicone, Vitamin E, Aloe vera, Dimethiconol, Cyclomethicone.

Of these, the two natural ingredients are the Vitamine E and aloe. The Vitamin E Vitamin E is thought to soothe irritated skin, while also being an antioxidant. Aloe Vera is supposed to help with skin rejuvenation, healing, and soothing, but there is mixed clinical reports as to the effectiveness of aloe. Also, if you are allergic to onions, you may want to skip this lube, as some people with that allergy report having similar reactions to aloe! The others ingredients are all silicone derivatives.

My boyfriend and I both love the clever packaging for this lube. In the two larger sizes, the lid of the bottle is shaped to look like a soft point bullet! It isn't exactly discrete, as it does say 'Play safe' and 'silicone lubricant' on the front of the bottle, but you could probably get away with it sitting on a crowded dresser without too many raised eyebrows. Our 4 ounce bottle has a pump dispenser, which is both a good and bad thing. It's great for the first bit of lube you need, and then become a pain in the butt if you end up needing more lube. I find it is really hard to grip with slick hands, and it will often take a few tries to get a pump of lube out of the bottle.

The consistence of the Gun Oil is very thin…slightly thicker than water, but not by much. I'd say it is about the same as baby oil. It’s extremely slippery, and the slickness lasts fairly well. I have used it for anal sex, and I found that the it started feeling a bit sticky after 20 minutes or so, and needed to be re-applied. It also works well on anal toys that are glass or steel. Only a little bit of this lube is needed for toys- I found that one pump works well for lubing up a toy or plug, and two was all I needed for comfortable slickness for anal sex.

I actually picked up this bottle of lube as a gift for my boyfriend. We both like starting off a play session with a handjob or as a fun way to tease on a lazy afternoon. We had become annoyed at how quickly water based lubes would dry out or become tacky and need to be re-activated by spit or more lube. The first time I poured some of the Gun Oil in my hand and started to play with his cock, his reaction was awesome. My boyfriend couldn't believe how slick and smooth it made the handjob, and loved that I didn't have to stop half way through to grab more lube. The lack of friction also made the head of his penis a lot more sensitive, which was fun for me. I enjoyed being evil and teasing him until he was an oversensitive and twitching puddle.

Gun Oil really excells at anal use. I don't get as much burning sensation during initial penetration when I use a silicone lube vs a water based one. Another bonus is that this last a long time, so there isn't that awkward moment when I get close to orgasm...and the lube wears off and it starts to hurt in a not so fun way. I've found that I can usually enjoy 20-30 minutes of anal sex without needing to ask for more lubrication, which is awesome when I am having a marathon session with my Sir.

There’s no scent or taste to this lube, but I wouldn’t be entirely comfortable switching between a handjob to a blowjob while using it. I did notice a bit of staining on my sheets after a play session in which we used Gun Oil, but it ended up coming out of the fabric after a normal wash cycle.

This has been my favourite silicone lube that we have tried so far. I love the slickness, the clever packaging, and how little we need to use for a play session. I will definitely be re-purchasing Gun Oil when we run out, though I don't see that happening for a while!

We still have more than 1/2 of this bottle left, despite using it for anal play and hand jobs on a regular basis. It's a great silicone lube, fits in well on my guy's bedside table, and is definitely worth investing in!
