Great Glide, Bad Pump

This is a good lube. It gets the job done well. I would have given it 5 stars, but I really hate the bottle's pump. I mean, I really hate it. Thankfully, I.D. does not stain floors or sheets. That being said, next time I will just get a flip-top bottle.

Pros:
long lasting

latex condom compatible
no smell

Cons:

can get tacky

Use

I love using this lube. This is my go-to lube for everything: anal, vaginal, and clitoral. However, one thing I don't recommend trying with it is a body massage. I.D. isn't marketed to be one—I was just saying. With anal intercourse, many people like to use something thicker than water based, like silicone, but I.D. Glide works well enough for my tastes. I consider it to be great for toys because I.D. won't react badly with them, and it is safe for latex and polyurethane condoms.

Water-based lube should be one of the staples in any sex toy chest, and this one fits the bill.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Consistency is a hard quality to explain. I guess I would compare it to liquid fabric softener. I.D. is similar to it in thickness and consistency. Glide is heavier than some of the other water-based lubes on the market, like Sliquid. I like this quality because it doesn't run everywhere. Glide doesn't feel completely like the real thing, but it has added to every experience I have had using it.

    • Smooth

Taste / Aroma

It has no aroma. However, for the sake of it, I tasted it . . .

You never know when someone may fall with their tongue hanging out. Yeah, tasting is NOT recommended. I.D. isn't meant to be ingested. Consider this if oral delights are on the schedule for the evening because the lube can linger on your skin, even if it has dried. It isn't pleasant.
    • No smell

Performance

This lube was sufficient for my uses, both anally and vaginally, with no need to reapply. However, I needed to reapply several times with clitoral stimulation. The bottle states to reactivate with water, which I didn't do the first trial and thus got a sticky feeling. On my second session of vibrator play, I tried using water, and it definitely cut down on the tackiness. Washing up afterward was quite easy: just using warm water takes it off.

Packaging

I tested the 17.5-ounce bottle, which is a pump bottle. This is the product's downfall. The spout is off-centered. It looks cool, but it makes the bottle VERY easy to knock over. I knocked the bottle over several times . . . The other awkward thing about the pump is that it locks by turning the spout. It seems like a good idea to avoid messes, but it ends up locking in the middle of playing. It is aggravating.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Messy dispenser
Follow-up commentary
I eventually wised up and just found a sports squirt bottle to get rid of that dreadful pump. Everything was smooth gliding from there on out. I just recently used the last of it. I will probably go with another ID product, but will always have a little travel bottle for backup.

Thanks for the review. Sorry the pump was such a pain. I liked that you included that it was safe for polyurethane condoms as well as latex one. BTW, what are the ingredients in this lube?

  • I received a sample and want to make sure it's the real thing before writing a review.
    • I got this sample with a wholesale order:

Is this the one EF is selling in larger bottles, so can I review it?
    • It looks the same to me. If you're going to review it, do note that you have a smaller sample size tho.

I would mention that. It got pretty good ratings but it's like the worst thing I ever tried maybe 2/5. So not sure if it's just my personal preference or just plain different. Ingredients looks like the same tho. I read your durex warming review! I like that lube and use it to the day. This is far worse than that in terms of smell and performance. I got a premium silicone lube recently and I can finally understand why people gave 2/5 to the durex warming :) But I like it anyway, it's different. But made me realize what tacky really means and now I got a better picture.

  • Why is this product not sold in the same types of containers?
    • I am wondering why the different weights are sold in different containers. The 17.5 oz. container looks the best, but costs more. The 4 oz bottle looks weird, and I don't like it. They should be sold in same-looking containers. Any comments? Agreements?

I'd noticed that, too, and I think it's a bit odd. I think it'd be much better if they made them all the same as you suggested. I guess they figure they're just giving people a choice in the way the lube is disposed?

The Gun Oil lube bottles look pretty much the same except for size or if it has a pump. Personally it doesn't bother me what the bottle looks like. Some I am sure are easier to conceal in a pocket or purse for the purpose of travel. Others do to their size like the one I baught being 35 oz. looks like a shampoo bottle and you could probably have out in the open as long as someone didn't take to close a look at it. I am sure they had their reasons for making the bottles the way they did.
