My First Lubricant

I've enjoyed using this product, but when I run out, I'm not sure that I'll return to buy another. I will, more likely than not, venture out to try some new and different brands to see if there are any better :)
Published: November 7, 2009
Pros:
Affordable, effective, able to use safely with toys since it's water-based.
Cons:
Dries fairly quickly and requires more to keep from being sticky/gummy.

This is the only lubricant I've ever used, so I'm afraid I haven't much basis for comparison, but here are my views on this lubricant thus far, as a total lube noob...(I'm sorry, I couldn't resist, LOL! It was just too easy.)

The product comes in a fairly handy squeeze bottle with a flip top lid. I do wish that all lubricant came in pump format, but what can ya do? The container appears to be secure and I've never had it leak or accidentally open or anything like that. The packaging is very attractive and I like how the bottle has little dips and ridges for your fingers to settle into when you grip it.

The product is odorless and tasteless and it does it's job extremely well. It feels slippery and lovely. However, I've noticed that as it dries, it becomes very sticky, as well as leaving behind a funky, gummy residue on my fingers and my other body parts. Washing obviously takes care of the problem, but it's still kind of gross and has ruined the moment for me a number of times. The best solution I've found for that is to just use more of it so it doesn't dry up as quickly. It's still a little bit frustrating to have to continually add more so that it doesn't all dry up.

Having used this lubricant both in both anal play and vaginal play, solo and with a partner, I have to admit that it is versatile, but the need to pause and reapply seems to be unavoidable...I am not sure if that is the same with all lubricants or just this one. I do also have to say that the sensation of it is very enjoyable. It is slick and smooth and has added wonderfully to my play sessions and sexual escapades. I can't believe it took me so long to try a real lubricant! I'm officially a convert ;)

I'm hoping to try a few different kinds of lubricant in the near future so that I can edit this to provide a more accurate review...This is just my first take on this item and on lubricant in general :)

I know there is really not much to say on a review of a lube (hence why I have not done one yet!!) Maybe add the ingredients into the review, does it contain Glycerine or Parabens, since these are ingredients people tend to be sensitive to. Overall a good review, just some tip to maybe help a bit!!! Smile

I have noticed that this kind of drying effect is typical for any kind of water-based lubed when too much air gets to it. So as long as there is consistant motion it usually wont dry up. (or u could add some drops of water to it)

Try silicone-based lube if you want the slickness to last. (although it will feel oily (in a way), in that it doesn't come off easily by wiping it somewhere or trying to wash it off it water)

  • I received a sample and want to make sure it's the real thing before writing a review.
    • I got this sample with a wholesale order:

Is this the one EF is selling in larger bottles, so can I review it?
    • It looks the same to me. If you're going to review it, do note that you have a smaller sample size tho.

I would mention that. It got pretty good ratings but it's like the worst thing I ever tried maybe 2/5. So not sure if it's just my personal preference or just plain different. Ingredients looks like the same tho. I read your durex warming review! I like that lube and use it to the day. This is far worse than that in terms of smell and performance. I got a premium silicone lube recently and I can finally understand why people gave 2/5 to the durex warming :) But I like it anyway, it's different. But made me realize what tacky really means and now I got a better picture.

  • Why is this product not sold in the same types of containers?
    • I am wondering why the different weights are sold in different containers. The 17.5 oz. container looks the best, but costs more. The 4 oz bottle looks weird, and I don't like it. They should be sold in same-looking containers. Any comments? Agreements?

I'd noticed that, too, and I think it's a bit odd. I think it'd be much better if they made them all the same as you suggested. I guess they figure they're just giving people a choice in the way the lube is disposed?

The Gun Oil lube bottles look pretty much the same except for size or if it has a pump. Personally it doesn't bother me what the bottle looks like. Some I am sure are easier to conceal in a pocket or purse for the purpose of travel. Others do to their size like the one I baught being 35 oz. looks like a shampoo bottle and you could probably have out in the open as long as someone didn't take to close a look at it. I am sure they had their reasons for making the bottles the way they did.
