Not the best, but it does the job in a pinch
This is your average lubricant, but with a good price. If you don't use water based lube, this is a good one to have in your treasure chest for toys that are need to be used with water based lubricants. There are better lubricants out there, but you will pay a lot more for them.Published: July 25, 2009
Pros:
The price is right, it is common and easy to find, safe for all toys, doesn't dry up in 30 seconds.
Cons:
Glycerin, doesn't last as long as silicone or JO.
ID Glide has never been my favorite lubricant, or even the lubricant of my choice if I get one. However, as far as water based lubricants go, for the price this isn't bad. It's not excellent by any means, but it isn't bad.
I do have to say that it does dry up on you, so if you are looking for a long lasting lubricant, this may not be the one for you. You can reactivate it with, obviously, more lube (just a drop or two is all that you really need... unless you are playing anally), a little water, or even saliva will get you slick again. If you are just going for a quick round in the bedroom, this will definitely get the job done no problem.
Toys: Since ID is a water based lubricant it can be used on any toy you have in your treasure chest, therefore if you don't normally use water based lubricants, this may be the one for you, just to have on hand in that moment of passion.
My biggest complaint is that there is glycerin in this brand. I use only water based lubricants, and so all of mine are glycerin free. Why is this an issue? If you don't clean up, you can get irritated. And, really, who wants to be irritated all day or all night.
There are many lesser quality brands out there, and ID is sold everywhere for a decent price. As I said before, this is an average lubricant. I also don't mind the taste of it, I don't prefer the taste, but it isn't so awful that you will avoid any oral contact after it has been applied. You're not left all greasy and dripping like some lubricants do either. Plus, since it is water based, the clean up is super easy. It comes right off without a whole lot of scrubbing.
Would I buy this for me? Probably not unless I had to, but I would recommend it to friends who are just beginning to get into using lubricants, water based lubes, and toys for sure.

Follow-up commentary

I really wish there was another option, because I never really liked ID Glide. I think it is a step above KY for sure, but I would never set out to buy it. So it isn't so much that I still like ID, but more of I will still use it if it is what I have and I need it. It is still a mediocre and basic lube, which barely makes an impression on me when I use it. It is just there, I might actually use spit before choosing to spend more money on ID Glide Lubricant.

I received a sample and want to make sure it's the real thing before writing a review.

I got this sample with a wholesale order:

Is this the one EF is selling in larger bottles, so can I review it? -
It looks the same to me. If you're going to review it, do note that you have a smaller sample size tho.

It got pretty good ratings but it's like the worst thing I ever tried maybe 2/5. So not sure if it's just my personal preference or just plain different. Ingredients looks like the same tho. I read your durex warming review! I like that lube and use it to the day. This is far worse than that in terms of smell and performance. I got a premium silicone lube recently and I can finally understand why people gave 2/5 to the durex warming :) But I like it anyway, it's different. But made me realize what tacky really means and now I got a better picture.

Why is this product not sold in the same types of containers?
-
I am wondering why the different weights are sold in different containers. The 17.5 oz. container looks the best, but costs more. The 4 oz bottle looks weird, and I don't like it. They should be sold in same-looking containers. Any comments? Agreements?

I think it'd be much better if they made them all the same as you suggested. I guess they figure they're just giving people a choice in the way the lube is disposed?

Personally it doesn't bother me what the bottle looks like. Some I am sure are easier to conceal in a pocket or purse for the purpose of travel. Others do to their size like the one I baught being 35 oz. looks like a shampoo bottle and you could probably have out in the open as long as someone didn't take to close a look at it. I am sure they had their reasons for making the bottles the way they did.
