Well, the Red Cowl Neck Mini Dress by Forplay, is that and more! Wear this dress with pantyhose, thigh-highs, or bare legs for a formal affair, or pair it with leggings, fishnets, knee-high boots, for a more casual look.





Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The Red Cowl Neck Mini Dress by Forplay, comes in sizes: extra small, small, medium, large, extra large, and is only available in the color red. The dress contains three labels, two at the top on the back: the ForPlay logo tag, and a small black tag with sizing (XL). The third label is located on the side of the inside dress, sewn into the stitching, and it contains the fabric breakdown, as well as the washing instructions. The fabric breakdown is 92% polyester, and 8% spandex.



Starting from the front at the top of the dress, the neck features a cowl neck style, which is perfect for those wanting to bring attention to the bust region. The cowl neck is round in nature, and gathers and falls nicely accentuating the boobs, but in a classy way. The stitching on the side of the dress causes the front of the dress to fall in the way that it gathers all the way down. The length of the dress from the neck to the bottom (front) is 44" (including cowl neck). With the dress on and the neck falling properly, the length in the front is 37" long.







The shoulder straps of the dress in the front is made of the same red fabric, and gathers at the top, allowing for the chains to attach themselves. The width of the red fabric straps measure 2" wide. The chain straps, which are visible only from the back, are non-adjustable, and made of a gold color metal. For each strap, there are two gold link chains that come together and interlock. Each chain measures 1/4" in width, and once together measure 3/4" of an inch. The length of the chain from the red strap, up until it meets together with the other strap, measures 9.5" long. When all chains meet in the center, they all get interlocked to create a thicker chain, and that portion measures 2" wide, and is 3" long. From there, it then curves around into a circular shape, allowing the red fabric gather, and creating the back of the dress.





The back of the dress cuts lower then the front, and features a gorgeous chain back display. The chains are strong and sturdy, and makes the dress having to be worn without a regular bra, as it would be seen from behind. There are two layers to the back of the dress: the main dress that continues all the way around, and then an additional layer on top, which is located just around the chain portion connection to the fabric. It is a little hard to explain what I mean by this extra fabric, but I will include additional photos to try and show it. The additional fabric adds extra curve to any body, and helps camouflage any imperfections. The length of the back of the dress, measuring from the hoop is 28" long.



With the cut of the dress, it is quite flattering for those who are trying to camouflage stomach imperfections, and those who would like a little extra attention in the bust region. The feel of the fabric is wonderful against the skin, and doesn't require a slip underneath. It's silky to the touch, and slinky enough that it falls and hits all the right curves. The color red of the dress is gorgeous, and is a nice deep poppy color. The only problem with that, is that if you have too much junk in the front, the color will show it. If you have just a little stomach imperfection, then the cut of the dress will still hide that.

Care and Maintenance

This item you will want to wash by hand in cool water, and use a detergent that is mild. I personally like to use zero for my lingerie. You will also want this item to air dry, hang it on a hanger to keep it's shape.

Packaging

When it comes to the packaging of this dress, it reminds me of picking up an item from the dry cleaners. Why you may ask? Because it comes on a white plastic hanger, and has a clear plastic garment bag hanging to protect it. The only difference with this, is that the clear plastic bag has the Forplay logo written on it, and a hazard warning for children. The bag wasn't sealed, but it did protect the dress, and is perfect for storing and hanging it in your closet.

The hanger is just a cheap plastic hanger, however, it does it's job well enough. The original cardboard tag comes attached to the Forplay label, and has a model on the front that is modelling a different garment. It says on the front "Born in Hollywood", which seems to be their slogan. On the back of the cardboard tag, it's white in color with the Forplay logo, and the sizing listed.









I love the red dress, however, I personally would rather wear it as a tank top. I will be getting the dress shortened, to make it into a tank top, as I have way too much junk in the front lower region. I've lost over 100Lbs and have quite a bit of hanging skin, so the color of this dress shows it too much. The cut of the dress is perfect, if only it came in a darker color, it would have suited my body better.

I love how it looks as a tank top, and will wear this for both an evening out to the bar, and/or club. I would also pair this with dress pants and a cardigan, to be able to wear it to work. Love the way the cowl neck falls, and it shows your bust in a classy way. I wear a size 14, and their XL fit perfectly, if only I had the right body!

I also don't really like the original photos of the model wearing the dress, as she shouldn't be wearing a layered necklace like it... it makes it look like it's part of the dress. The dress doesn not have that necklace included, and only contains the gold chain portion on the back. The gold chain isn't as tacky as I originally was afraid of it being, it's actually quite nice.

I always loved the look of this dress, I just hated that my stomach flaws showed because of the color. I originally stated in my review that I was going to turn this into a tank top. I still might do that, but will hold off on doing that until the summer months. I'm still currently losing weight, and I want this to fit me properly for the summer months. This was well worth the buy.
