RO-160mm bullet - traditional vibrator discontinued by Rocks Off Ltd. - review by Incendiaire

The RO-160mm is truly lovely product to look at, and with its metallic-blue finish and sleek simplistic design it conjures up images of a cigar tube. When you hold the vibrator in your hand it becomes apparent that it has a reassuringly weighty feel to it, and seems very solidly built. To call it a “bullet” seems almost a misnomer given its size, as at 6 3/4” long and 1 1/8” wide you’d think it could easily take down a rhinoceros.

The vibrator is made from a solid plastic coated in a special paint which gives it its attractive metallic appearance. Unfortunately there were a few scratches on mine where the paint had been removed, detracting slightly from the overall look, and suggesting that more could chip off in the future. The paint seemed to do an excellent job at holding onto lube, both water-based and silicone, allowing for all even application all over the surface of the toy.

The RO-160mm is designed to be completely waterproof, allowing it to be used in wet environments such as the bath, shower, hot tub, etc. It’s also very handy for when it comes to cleaning it as you needn’t worry about submerging it. As it’s a battery-powered toy you must be very careful to screw the cap on tightly, as otherwise water could seep into the battery compartment and damage it. Usefully both the cap and the body of the toy have markings on them, so once they’re aligned you can be safe in the knowledge that everything is screwed down sufficiently tightly to keep any water out.

The vibrator has 7 different functions to choose from, made up of 3 speeds, and 4 patterns of pulses. This is operated by a simple button on the far end which is used to cycle through them and which feels a little on the flimsy side. The button is pressed once to turn the vibrator on, again to move to the next pattern, and once you have cycled through them all it turns off. This cycling can be a little inconvenient if you’re trying to turn the thing off in a hurry.

When you first hold the RO-160mm in your hands and turn it on it does feel as though it’s actually quite powerful, but unfortunately it turns out that this is rather misleading, and that power just doesn’t seem to translate at all to when it’s inside the body, or being applied to the erogenous zones. Despite the outward indication of strength the vibrations never focus or concentrate at any one point, and they lack the intensity which would be desirable. The result of this is largely disappointment. The best comparison I can make would be with the vibrations produced by the controller of a video game console; it shakes and judders around so you know that it's there, but the vibrations dissipate very quickly and don't direct their full force anywhere.

For something which performs so poorly the vibrating function of the RO-160mm is also incredibly noisy, almost alarmingly so. When I first turned it on and heard it rattling around like a pneumatic drill it almost gave me a start. It creates a volume of noise on a level equal to both an electric toothbrush and an electric razor, possibly louder on some of the higher settings. Attempting to drown out the noise by playing music or putting on the television had negligible effect, making it anything but subtle to use, and not one to get out when there’s company around.

The toy isn’t designed with the intention of anal use as evidenced by the lack of a flared base, but if you enjoy using a firmer anal toy then the shape does make it comfortable to insert there, just so long as you’re careful about what you’re doing. The rubber ring by the battery cap acts as a handy indicator of when you should stop, so you know not to over insert it, but it’s something you do at your own risk.

The packaging for the RO-160mm consists of a sturdy black cardboard box with a clear plastic viewing window at the front. Inside the box the item is clipped securely into a plastic tray adorned with the company logo, which makes it the perfect place to store your toy safely away from unwanted dust when not in use.

On the whole I wouldn’t be inclined to recommend this toy. It has a lovely outward appearance but a functionality that just doesn’t live up to that of its smaller cousins in the range.

As a man I was using this vibrator both anally and to stimulate the penis; something I have done before with other similar products, to great success.

When used anally the RO-160mm felt quite pleasant inside the body, despite being a completely rigid toy. When the vibrations were turned on, however, the effect wasn't great; the vibrations didn't seem to be directed anywhere, the whole toy just seemed to shake and wobble around without actually transferring any of its power into the body. The stimulation of the prostate was very poor, and this didn't change when cycling through the available options.

When it came to using the RO-160mm on the penis the outcome was very similar; the toy simply rattled around in my hand, and when I ran it over the most sensitive areas of the penis, very little off the vibrations caused any noteworthy sensation.

I've had this toy for a few months, and I have to say my experiences with it haven't improved at all.

When you combine the fact that it makes a lot of noise and performs poorly, there's very little motivation to ever use it, so I just don't. Perhaps the noise would be excusable if it actually got the job done, but as it stands it really is all bark and no bite.

On the subsequent occasions that I tried using it, I can only say that there was no change to my earlier assessment. The vibrations from it really do nothing for me whatsoever.

It's a decent looking toy, but this one just isn't for me.
