The Forever Vibrator

The vibrations are moderate but deep, making this a toy you use for when you have time to build up to an orgasm. It's not a quick O, but it is a satisfying one. And this toy will, theoretically, last forever!

Use

The Little chroma is really versatile since it's so small but does best as an external vibrator. You could use it for internal stimulation as well as for anal play since Jimmyjane included two holes in the cap through which you can thread a retrieval string. The moderate vibrations feel great, especially since they are not as numbing as my more powerful but also buzzy toys, and are very quiet.

Also, because the little chroma is made of aluminum, it can be warmed up or cooled down for temperature play. This could even be done in the shower or tub since the little chroma is totally waterproof, provided you screw on the cap all the way. Lastly, I would say the Little chroma would make a good travel vibrator because it's so discreet and small. The twist-cap would probably not turn itself on, but even if you took out the batteries, this is still a vibrator that would be easy to pack because the motor is the same size as the one required AA battery.

For these reasons, I think the Little chroma lends itself well to both solo and partner use. Little chroma won't intimidate or wear out your wrist, nor will it distract you from the sensations produced by sounding like a weed whacker.

Material / Texture

The Little chroma is made of sleek, non-porous, anodized aluminum which makes it a rigid, sleek vibrator that provides firm pressure. There is no scent, taste, or texture. In fact, on paper it sounds pretty basic--because that is what the Little chroma is. A basic vibrator made with quality materials and designed to last for a lifetime with its replaceable motor ($20 from the Jimmyjane website).

For this reason, I think texture-wise the Little chroma is great for beginners. However, the price tag is not. Therefore, I would recommend this to more advanced beginners with the following advice: Before splurging on this vibrator, know that moderate intensity is what you'll be getting from this vibrator...forever.

Design / Shape / Size

Minimalism is the first word that comes to mind when viewing the Little chroma: minimalistic and sleek. I bought this being enthused about the design, as sometimes I don't want a vibrator that has eighteen different patterns, five ribbed balls that spin around the shaft, and the option to have it play "Sexual Healing" if I hit the blue button. Sometimes, I just want something...simple but effective, and discreet if possible. And for the most part, the Little chroma delivers. There is enough surface area for me to feel stimulated, the option of pin-point precision, and a good balance between weight (the Little chroma has substance) and user comfort. As a petite woman, this little 5" vibrator works just fine for me. I think it'd be great for couples as well, since it's small, easy to use, and provides good deep vibrations without any distracting noise.

I do like the choice of non-porous, anodized aluminum as the material since it opens up the option of temperature play, makes the vibrator compatible with lube, and will be body safe for anyone except those who are allergic to nickel. An added bonus is the waterproof nature of the vibrator up to the depth of a swimming pool. But a quick reminder: screw on the cap all the way first!

The small size of 5" and just over 1/2" diameter makes this a very good vibrator for travel, although I would take out the motor and battery or find a way to break the circuit first. The cap is relatively secure but could be jostled.

The Little chroma is very easy to hide and mostly discreet. It is buzzy at start up and when turning it off, due to the fact that you must unscrew the cap to turn off the vibrator, and there is a period when the battery and motor rattle against each other.

Functions / Performance / Controls

I wasn't expecting this to be a vibrator that would buzz and beat my clit into an instant orgasm, despite the price. I mean hey, what do you want with one AA battery? I also knew about the one-speed function and the annoying buzz at start up and finish ahead of time. Indeed, the Little chroma must be fully to almost fully unscrewed to turn off the power. As you do so, the battery and motor rattle against each other for about 2 seconds, but those are a rather loud two seconds. But once the cap is on, the Little chroma is really quite silent, giving off a sort of white-noise hum.

The vibrations are located most strongly at the tip, where the motor rests, but can still be felt throughout the body of the Little chroma, probably because it is small in size. You cannot change the speed, unless keeping the cap slightly less than completely screwed on counts, but you can vary, somewhat, the intensity of the vibrations by changing where the metal body is placed in relation to yours.

The Little chroma performed great in the tub, though I had a few scary moments where it almost slipped from my hand--now I know to use the holes in the cap for a wrist strap!

Oh yes--the Little chroma came with a battery. I have been using this vibrator pretty darn consistently during these lazy summer days, maybe even those 16 hours it's supposed to get as battery life, and it still shows no sign of running low on juice.

I would still get this vibrator again, just because I am a thrifty pervert who likes a good deal and shiny black toys. Also, I found I could marginally decrease the rattling by placing a thin layer of tape around the motor which seems to make it fit more snugly in the case.

Care and Maintenance

This has to be one of the easiest to clean vibrators I've ever had. The sleek design means it holds very little gunk; even the ribbed cap doesn't require much extra effort. The metal exterior also makes it safe to be tossed into the dishwasher (just pop out the motor and battery first!), or just wiped down with soap and water, which is what Jimmyjane recommends in the included pamphlet. Contrary to other reviews I've read before purchasing this vibrator, you don't have to keep it on to clean it. You can simply remove the battery and motor, then screw back on the cap and wash. At least so far that hasn't caused me problems with water leaking into the interior portion of the vibrator.

The Little chroma is safe to use with all lubes: water, silicone or oil based. Also, if the cap ever becomes hard to twist, the manual recommends dabbing a bit of petroleum jelly on.

Because the sleek metal exterior is so nice, I either store the vibrator in the box it came in, as there is a nice solid cardboard mold, or in a soft bag that won't scratch the metal.

Packaging

Even before I opened the box containing the toy, I knew Jimmyjane was delivering on their mission of quality, eco-friendly toys because the plastic wrap was thick and recyclable. Then the box: much has already been said about the classiness and minimalism of Jimmyjane's packaging, but they really do present a tasteful and attractive image by having a simple picture of the product on the cover, and neutral (grey or white) font color text saying the details, like: body-safe materials, bath-friendly, etc. It's even pretty discreet: while the box does say "Little Chroma: Waterproof Vibrator" and "Everlasting Vibrator", you wouldn't guess that without reading the text. By the picture alone on the cover, people would probably mistake the box as the packaging for a cigar holder or fancy pen.

To open the box, you can slide the cover off the cardboard mold, which holds the Little chroma perfectly and firmly. In fact, I had to take out the mold and push the Little chroma out! Over the Little chroma lay a little pamphlet giving details about the care, use and warranty (yes, there is a warranty!) of the toy. I have to give props to whomever Jimmyjane hired to do the tech writing, because the pamphlet is informative, friendly and very sex-positive. For example, the first line is: "We know you're eager to start playing with your new friend, but indulge us by taking a minute to learn about operating and maintaining it."

      I have bought 2. The first chipped on concrete while transporting it to my boyfriends house. I think it had repeated shocks to the motor because I was dropping it while I was getting out of the bath. Then the motor became noisy and not so effective. I moved on to my eroscillator for a while, but eventually I bought another little choma because I missed it so much. So yes, I think it is worth it. And if you look after it it will look after you. Tie a strap around the end of the little chroma if you're going to use it in the shower so then you won't drop it. This is easily done, there are holes for such a strap. If transporting it elsewhere keep it in a nice safe pouch. Don't grab it on the way out of the house without putting it away in your bag anyhow. You may regret it later.

      As far as vibrators go, my clitoris is an extremely fussy girl. I can get off with the eroscillator or the little chroma, but anything else has honestly been rather a difficult endeavour. I've tried decent bullets and pocket rockets and traditional vibrators but none has come close. I've tried a vibrator with weird patterns. Honestly, all you need is this one speed. It varies in intensity across the shaft. The little chroma has a decent power at a discreet noise level. It also has a beautiful hard smoothness and doesn't cause irritation. As goldilocks would say 'It's just right'. Just make sure your batteries are charged (the only ones that fit are eneloop), or get some fresh non-rechargable ones before you judge its power.

      Plus they are pretty!

    • So I've been looking into Jimmyjane more and more the past few months after all the hype finally got to me. The toy that seems to tickle my fancy the most would be the little chroma. The whole high quality, small, sleek, simple, quiet, waterproof, metal thing really gets me going. However, the sexiest version of the toy for me is the steel version *pictures it sitting innocently next to my mac, complemented by the brushed steel lamp on the bedside table*, which costs a whopping $195. Now, I'm okay with spending the money on a single toy, as long as it's the right toy. Trouble is, I've been to maybe 12 adult toy stores in three different cities around my state, NC, and not only did the majority of them not carry Jimmyjane toys, the only ones that did were adam and eve and although the chain carries a few of the toys, the specific stores did not. What's worse, some of the other stores had never even heard of Jimmyjane. And yeah, it took some effort to not exclaim "and you do this for a living?!?!" Anyways...

      Not being able to see, touch, test/witness the vibration of the toys before hand is a big problem to me, especially when dealing with such expensive toys.

      Does anyone have any idea where I can get my hands on any of their friggin products? I mean sheesh, I'd be willing to make a minitrip to a surrounding state for funzies at this point. SEX TOY ROADTRIP! I just have to lay my eyes on em, ya know? Sneaky little things... Has anyone else had the same experience with not being able to find them?

      Or can anyone who owns a little chroma/little something offer a more specific comparison of power to some other more available and comparable toy? I've read all the reviews on this site as well as others. I just want something more like, "at the strongest point it feels similar in intensity to the (#) setting of (manufacturer)'s (toy name)." If that's at all possible...
