I see where you're going with this... lol

I promise I'll get back to you both first thing in the morning

It's always hard for new people to mesh into an established community, whether virtual or real-life. I'm not sure what more could be done to help people feel welcome.

You're so welcome! I meant every single word. Can I publish it now and share it with the world?

Oh...and our heat went out. It went out because it was so cold that ice formed around the duct to the outside air supply that keep the flame in the heater lit. We woke up this morning at the thermostat dropped to 65. It's all fixed now
Our house is always set at 65

Do you think there's anything we could be doing differently about the clubs and events that are going on right now? Anything we could improve on?
Maybe a place to inform about them all in one place. To show what is available...

I'm thinking different from the calender.

I think just getting word out of all the clubs and activities is helpful. I think that's one of the main limiters of participation, people either forget or don't know.

I actually felt comfortable and accepted immediately. I didn't realize how much I needed something like that until I found it. As you well know, Jen, my only concern was with offending people.

My boyfriend is like cold blooded or something because he needs it at 74. I always turn it down to 70 though...when he is not looking lol.

Well what would you expand upon? Besides the calendar that is.

Well the mentor program isn't that old of a system on EF. Do you feel it's working? What else could be done for newbies? I definitely wish I had heard of it when I first joined. I didn't see it advertised anywhere obvious when I did my first two (which totally suck, btw) and would have loved doing it. I found it hard to navigate around the site for a few weeks.

I made that suggestion to Gary already. An actual monthly calendar page on the site with all of the activities, and the ability to send reminder alerts. He says something like that will take time to implement but he liked it.

I am thinking something like that too. A place that is easy to find and list all that is available. A "Newbie corner" or something.

I know I am, lol

Me: "Oh Synthetik!!! I'm having some computer issues"

*Synthetik walks in the room*

Me: *Pouncing on him* "I'm sorry honey, but I lied... Must... have... Sex..."

Oh, God, I looked away for a minute and now I'm lost *tries to catch up*

It's not about clubs and events but I think that for new members it would be awesome to have a really prominent link (like where the community corner link is on the front page) that said "NEW HERE?" with links to tutorials and info about reviewing and clubs and all that stuff.

That way the community is a little less... big. and scary.

What would you do differently to make this more noticeable for newcomers

Perhaps a "sticky" post at the top of the list of recent threads threads might help announce things better. I know the announcements can get buried pretty quickly.

As a relative newbie, I like this idea, sometimes finding all the information can be hard when you're running all over the site to get it

Aw that's good to hear. And you won't offend people here. Not easily anyway. They're good about letting you know "hey, here's how I took that.." and everything is cleared up fast. No unfairly harsh punishment comes down on anyone.

That would help for announcements and even the Rumbles. Sticky them for a week.

Ok...let me re-explain in more detail...

A place where you could click to see descriptions of each current club, when they meet, requirements etc. Maybe each club could also have their own logo.

There is currently no place that tells about each club...in one place

LitClub
PornClub
Writer's Club

(or whatever the names are)

E.G.

Porn Club:

Porn club is a club where blah blah

It meets and such and such a time

It requires that you review two porns a month...blah blah

Here is an example of our past meeting...

etc. etc.
