I agree, but if we learned as newbies, we wouldn't be as confused now lol

It's nice to have people to talk to, but at the same time, having a link to a how-to of the mentor program, and a full description on all of the clubs. When I first got here, I didn't even know what questions I wanted to ask!

Just my thoughts, tho

Really, the Community Corner needs to be expanded to truly represent what the community now offers.

And if we learned how to do everything right off, we wouldn't find all the obscure things we stumbled upon looking for this other thing...

Community Room, perhaps, instead of Community Corner?

But what I'm talking about (which is based off of one of @Kindred's ideas) would be, you getting a personal message (not someone up your ass), just kind of welcoming you, thanking you for joining, telling you about the different things offered, different clubs, etc?

Don't we get one of those everyonce in a while? I know I do in my email. Or are you thinking of something different?

What about something like adding a banner to the front page that links to one central page somewhere with a whole bunch of FAQ's and answers with links to places like the mentor program?

I like the idea of a greeting, personalized message from someone, but I'm not sure it should be a mentor, only because it seems like a lot more to add to their plates. Maybe more like a "Welcome Wagon" committee, which can then direct people to mentors, if need be?

Yes, so long as there was all the info, or the already existing explanations on how to get involved. I think it'd be a lot of information to fit into one message, and would let each person explore at their own pace, and not feel like they are missing something big.

I like being very involved, but if someone doesn't want to be as involved, showering them with information might make them uncomfortable.

Not sure if I'm making sense...

I agree that maybe the Community News page just needs to have an overhaul and be built as a place to get all the latest news on everything, where everything can link off of. News and announcements, lists of clubs and activities, explanations of what the Mentor Program is, the EdenCafe, etc.

There is a FAQ link on the front page that goes to this...

link

I think it could easily be made into a banner and expanded to include more info.

My idea was a Big Brother/Sister program, so that once someone created an account, they would have the opportunity to be contacted by someone from the community to give them the welcome wagon treatment. Give them an idea of all that EF has to offer, but also act as a friend in case they have questions. It's similar to the mentor program, but not review related necessarily.

It would kind of be like community "outreach" I guess, older community members would get the name of someone who just signed up and reach out. Like a welcome wagon? And then that's it... they wouldn't hound down the new member beyond that, but it would be like a neighbor bringing a plate of cookies when you move in! Hi welcome, here's what we have, if you want to know more about it, feel free to ask... kind of thing... sort of

That's not a bad idea. I just went over it and didn't see much that wasn't related to placing an order.

Gotcha now! So like community greaters. Or maybe they could have a little icon similar to the "ask me" ones showing that they are willing to answer questions and help out. That way it would not have to be individually dependent on one person for each person.

the problem we all have. No one even mentioned the mentor program to me until I applied for advanced and then I got bombarded with "Why didn't you join the mentor program? That's the way to go!" Ummmm.... I DIDN'T KNOW!!!!
