it's a form of sexual intercourse, but to me 'sex' sex involves penetration. i guess i'm an 'other' option.

I definitely think of it as sex.

And in response to dhig, in a situation between two women, would you consider fingering (technically penetration) sex but not oral?

Oral is definitely sex. There are plenty of couples who can't or won't have vaginal or anal intercourse.

No. Sex to me is intercourse. Oral sex IS A TYPE of sex, but it is not actual sex.

I think it definitely is. Some people will never have "intercourse", but will have oral sex. I don't think they all count as virgins.

I consider it sex, no question. Some local high school students in my town don't though. 2 years ago a bunch of them got into trouble for giving blow jobs in the back of the bus, when questioned about it, they all just said that it wasn't sex, it was just kissing!! A good try on their part, but they all still got into some serious trouble.

Anything where either party's genitals are involved in a pleasurable and mutually consensual context is sex in my opinion. I know people with even more stringent definitions. I'm a lesbian so penetration isn't always involved in every sexual encounter.

Oral pleasure is considered a sexual act. I think some teens believe that as long as they don't have penis in vagina sex, oral pleasure is not really sex.

I would not consider it sex, but I would consider it a sexual activity. Just like dry humping with your clothes on or watching porn together and masturbating is a sexual action without being actual sex.

All sex is sex. Penis in vagina sex is only a type of sex. It is not more "real" than any form of non-penetrative sex. Its completely unfair to frame sexuality in these terms since it basically deems that sex between two men, or sex between two women is not "real sex". For heterosexual and homosexual couples alike oral sex is just as real as any form of penetrative sex. I find it incredibly beautiful and intimate (sometimes even more so then penetrative sex) and so I definitely consider it to be real sex.
