Lelo started in the business making toys for clitoral stimulation. Later they branched into other areas of the female anatomy, but really didn’t make anything for us guys. More recently, they determined that we deserved attention as well, and developed some of their “Pleasure Objects” for our use.

Bob is a non-vibrating prostate massager and they have Bo which is a silicone vibrating cock ring. Now the Billy is available, and your prostate can finally get the same attention as your lady friend’s g-spot has been getting from Lelo. Billy isn’t necessarily exclusive to prostates though, its attributes can successfully be applied to the g-spot as well. It’s like getting two toys in one – “strong enough for a woman, but made for a man” or something like that.

Bear in mind, the Billy is not a butt plug, it is really a probe because it isn't designed for extended wear and doesn't have enough neck to keep it in place during a lot of movement. It is easy to get in, easy to get out, and vibrates well. It's great for your partner to use on you or you to use on your partner.

The Billy’s under-carriage is hard plastic which is evident on the control end of it. The insertable end is covered in pure silicone, so the section going into your nether regions is very safe and easy to clean. The texture of the silicone is velvety soft and very comfortable. It has a matte finish and although it is not the slickest of materials, a little lube makes it very easy to insert.

The Billy design seems very much like some of the other Lelo designs (particularly Liv), except it has the ridge around the middle of the toy to prevent it from being taken too far in. This similarity of design is not a problem because the design is effective and unique in the sex toy industry. Lelo toys are very high quality and very distinctive. Once you figure out the four-quadrant controller, it becomes very easy to use. Fit and finish is first rate all the way around.

The Billy has a subtle curve to it that helps in contacting either the prostate or the g-spot, so Billy really can swing both ways. It tapers to the end which makes anal insertion easy to accomplish and the ridge really does keep the Billy in place. The maximum diameter is just 1 1/8”, so it should be suitable for all but the tightest of asses. It won’t satisfy the size kings out there, though, so if you are looking for something to just fill your ass with, keep looking.

The Billy has some stellar performance characteristics. There are no less than seven different intensity levels (it may be closer to ten) and five different pulsation patterns. It has steady vibration, three speeds of intermittent vibration and a wave setting where the vibration does not stop completely, but oscillates between harder and softer vibrations sort of like waves in the ocean. Most people should be able to find something they like out of that selection, unless you need to have a jackhammer working on your prostate in order to get things going. Using a Hitachi Magic Wand as a basis might be better for those folks, but as for me, I’ll stick with the finesse of the Billy for my prostate.

The handle of the Billy is hard plastic while the shaft is covered in pure silicone. Silicone is non-porous, phthalate free, and can be sterilized. A toy that is crafted completely from silicone can be sterilized in several ways, but Billy’s controls and DC socket are only splash proof and not water proof, so it is not safe to subject it to boiling water or a dishwasher for sterilization. This leaves wiping with 10% bleach solution to sterilize Billy. Regular cleaning before and after use with soap and hot water is the majority of the care that is required.

Rechargeable batteries sometimes require extra maintenance, but Billy’s battery is an up to date Li Ion battery, similar to those used in cell phones and laptop computers, so it should not suffer from the “memory” issues that plagued some of the older battery technologies. Billy lets you know when it is time to recharge by emitting a red glow, instead of white, when the control dial is pushed. It is fully recharged in about 2 hours and it is best not to let it charge for more than 24 hours. It may last as long as 4 hours on a full charge.

Lelo generally packages their products to appeal to the upscale market, and the Billy is no exception. The Billy is wrapped in clear clam shell plastic which is set in a black cardboard groove, inside an elegant cardboard box which, is then slipped into a glossy exterior cardboard box that has a picture of the Billy on the outside along with its name and the Lelo name. The recharger is also in its own box inside the larger boxes. Lelo includes a silky pouch for long term storage of your Billy as well. Lelo also provides a set of instructions that detail the operation of the vibrator which is nice because there is a slight learning curve with a controller this complex.

We did have a scare with our Billy. After I gave it a full charge, I ran it through the different speeds and intensities just to make sure it was working properly and to familiarize myself with the controls and then I put it away. Then next time I pulled it out to demonstrate for my partner I ran it through a few of its paces and all of a sudden, it just died. The LED was still working but I couldn’t get it to vibrate no matter what I did. Saddened by the turn of events, I set it aside to take a more extensive look at it later and to consider if it needed to be returned as defective. We completed our session and cleaned up and then I looked at it again. Still, dead at first, but after a little coaxing it started functioning again and hasn’t had a problem since. I’m not sure what happened, but I hope it doesn’t happen again.

We tried the Billy out in a variety of ways. Although this was not the intended usage, we tried it out on my partner’s g-spot. It worked pretty well there as long as I angled it up to provide good g-spot contact. She said she liked what the “wave” pattern. Personally, I would have to agree that the “wave” pattern or constant vibration are the ones that I like best as well. I guess the on/off patterns don’t quite do as much for us, but I’m sure lots of people love those kinds of patterns.

After we used it on her we moved Billy to its intended location, my anus. It slipped inside with some lube and very little warm up, and it was very comfortable once inserted. The vibrations on my prostate felt amazing. She stroked my cock for a while and then began to suck me off.
