Jaguar cuffs - wrist cuffs by ASLAN Leather - review by Sir

Aslan Leather's Jaguar Cuffs are a mid-range pair of leather cuffs that are well-suited for people of varying levels of interest in cuffs. They are pretty petite, but they're comfortable when they do fit and they're absolutely ravishing when put on. I wouldn't place them as being for extreme restraint with suspension, but they will hold up to intense amounts of struggling and also keep the wearer locked in place when need be. On top of that, they're long-lasting, and I can say with complete confidence that reliable cuffs are great cuffs!

These do not come with a snap ring or any form of rope, so make sure that you have one or the other on hand before readying any sort of scene or session.

People aren't lying when they say that these cuffs are gorgeous. They truly are, in that dark, classic, devious sort of way. They come in four different color options: red, blue, white, and fully black. All choices have a black strap for closing, but the cuff piece is the piece that is actually the dyed leather. I personally chose the blue, which appears more royal blue on the site but is actually closer to an indigo hue. The inside of the cuffs is a layer of black leather, regardless of the color chosen.

Each of the cuffs is fashioned with a 1" diameter d-ring that is double-riveted between the straps and a locking buckle for extra security. There are also two rivets, one on either end, of each cuff to hold the buckle strap to the cuff strap. All the way around the cuffs is stitching with black thread; it keeps the cuffs sturdily together so that the layers of leather do not come apart during play. The inside of the cuffs features a little cotton tag with Aslan Leather's logo on it; it's very aesthetically pleasing and makes the cuffs look professionally made (which they are).

When it comes to sizing, the Jaguar cuffs are actually very, very small. There are six holes for adjustment that are spaced 1/4" apart, making the cuffs fit from wrists sized at 5" to 9 1/2" around. Because of this, I highly doubt that they can be used by most individuals as ankle cuffs, though it may work out if the person has thinner ankles.

The hardware for the cuffs is all nickel-plated steel, meaning that if you have any nickel allergies, you may want to be cautious. The only piece of metal that touches the skin is the rivet inside of the cuff that keeps the tag on, so you may or may not be fine, even if you have such an allergy. Always better safe than sorry, though!

Since the leather is very smooth, these cuffs end up being fairly comfortable. They aren't plush (as they lack padding), so don't expect them to be very forgiving and cushiony—they're not. However, they won't hurt the wrists after wearing them for longer periods of time, and they will not chafe or burn the skin if rubbing occurs. For people who love the feel of pure leather without any additives, these cuffs will definitely be loved.

I found them to hold up very well in multiple settings. I could use them for regular restraint, but also for rougher scenes where the person may need to be held down more forcefully due to struggling. They're great when used alone, or when used in conjunction with a spreader bar or St. Andrew's cross. They don't slip around, but they can sometimes stick to the skin if the person gets sweaty. To avoid this, I suggest being in a well-ventilated area and also keeping a finger or two's space in the fitting of the cuff.

Personally, I love how raw the look and feel of the cuffs is. They're not padded or plushy, so they seem more restrictive and bare than cuffs like my Luxe cuffs would feel. They're just straight-forward, no games cuffs, which is something that I really like about them. It really is too bad that my play partner and I aren't able to use them as ankle restraints because they would have been very, very lovely.

The cuffs can be cleaned with a damp cloth or a regular leather cleaner, whichever one you prefer to clean your leathers with. Make sure to always dry them completely in order to keep from molding, and never leave them in direct sunlight as they may dry out or become discolored. Leather is fairly easy to take care of if you follow that one rule of keeping it out of sunlight. You should have no problems with the upkeep of the Jaguar cuffs.

I personally store my cuffs in my drawer with my other, smaller bdsm items (like cuffs and collars). This keeps them away from sunlight, and also keeps them in a place where I can easily get to them.

These did not come in anything; just the regular, discreet shipping box that Edenfantasys always sends their things in. The cuffs did have an Aslan Leather tag on them, though.

It would be good to add that I love the way the leather of these cuffs smells. I didn't go on about it like I usually do because it wasn't as strong as I would have liked, but it was still a good leather scent. These are definitely made from a high quality leather, as you can always rely on Aslan Leather to give you excellent quality leather products.
