Bondage Rope: Good value for a decent product

Overall, I'd say this 35' rope is a reasonable value for the money. It is great for beginners and the fact that it comes in several colors makes it fun for photos and play parties. I would not recommend this rope for suspension, due to the relatively poor quality (it arrived frayed).

Pros:
Soft, flexible, good for beginners, pretty color(s)

useful review
I received the Fetish Fantasy Series Japanese silk rope (pink) as a gift from a wish list on a different site. The rope arrived in a rectangular box and included a free mask. Because my husband braids and hangs our ropes, we will not be using the original packaging for storage, however it could certainly be used as a storage container if needed.

The Fetish Fantasy Series Japanese silk rope is 35 feet in length and approximately 1/4 inch thick. While it has a soft and flexible feel, it is NOT made from silk and appears to be multi-filament Polypropylene upon handling. The ends come tied with a piece of metal tape. While this keeps the rope from fraying, more advanced rope-bondage users would most likely want to cut the rope and make their own ends.

My husband used the rope in its full length to practice a dragonfly harness on me. He described it as flexible and easy to work with; however, we were both disappointed when we noticed that the rope arrived frayed in several places.

Because the rope material is soft, it was easy to knot and adjust when needed. I found it to be very comfortable even when I was completely bound.

The Fetish Fantasy Series Japanese silk rope is a great purchase for beginners or those wanting to spice things up in the bedroom; however, I wouldn't recommend it for suspension bondage play or advanced bondage due to the seemingly low quality of the rope. I also had some concerns regarding the rope ends coming pre-taped. While we did not have a problem with the metal tape, the edges felt sharp enough to cut or scrape skin during unintended content.

My main complaint was that the rope arrived already frayed in several places; aside from that we really enjoyed using it and felt it was a good value.

  • "fetish fantasy series japanese silk rope" -- not silk
    • LazyNinja
link manufacturers page states that this rope is actually made out of cotton.

Talk about a misleading/lying branding system. Is Japanese Silk a trademark of theirs that they make out of chinese cotton?

  • 'Silk' bondage rope listed under 'suspension kits'
    • Hey, Eden? I would like to respectfully suggest you remove this from the 'suspension kits' category. This type of rope is *not* safe for suspension. It's not real silk (Pipedream has confirmed it is actually a cotton/polyester blend), so can fray easily, stretch, and is just a poor idea if you don't want to risk dropping your submissive on their head.

I agree. I made sure to put in my review that the rope is not intended for suspension or partail suspension
    • Oh my goodness that's scary misinformation...;O

    • what are they made of
    • This is a question that could easily be answered by reading the product page! If you just scan it really quickly you can see that hey, these silk ropes are made of rope! It also gives you a link explaining the care of the materials, which is this link! A lot of these questions are better left off of the forums! :)

Rope is typically made of hemp, linen, cotton or (as in this case) silk. To say that rope is made of rope is a bit redundant. :D

But yeah, materials are always listed on the product's page, billybobtoy. It'll always be to the left of the product's picture, and it'll link to some basic care instructions. Though if you need more in-depth information, don't hesitate to ask.
