Tied up in pink!

If you're looking for a colorful way to tie up your partner, wrap yourself or tie the both of you together, the Japanese Silk Rope will suffice in most scenarios. While it won't hold up to hardcore BDSM play, this is a wonderful rope for the basics. While I highly doubt it's real Japanese silk and the threads can come loose, I'd still recommend it without hesitation. It's a product that, when using your imagination, you can come up with quite some interesting ways to enjoy this.

Use

The Japanese Silk Rope is meant to be used for bondage play, to restrain your partner. Depending on how you plan to use this rope, it may or may not meet your needs. If you're simply looking for something to tie up a partner, this is a nice rope. If youre looking for something durable enough that you're partner can't break loose, look elsewhere. For most purposes though, this works out well. The lovely colors add a splash of fun to things. I'm not a black and silver kind of girl. I like color so I do enjoy that part of the rope and would like to see more color options besides the plain old black and red.

With the Japanese Silk Rope you'll be able to wrap up your partner's legs, arms or entire body in some cases! However, I doubt it will suffice as a heavy-duty restraint. It is great for beginners and those who don't need to completely restrain their partner, but enjoy the fun of having them tied up. If you're looking for a rope to wrap yourself in, this works wonderfully and the colors make this ideal for that kind of thing. I'm able to wrap myself from chest to legs with this pretty pink rope!

The Japanese Silk Rope might not be Japanese Silk. I don't know what Japanese Silk would feel like, but I've heard that this isn't the real stuff. It feels softer than cotton and kind of fluffy. It's very soft, comfortable and won't chafe, but there's nothing silky about it. That's not a huge deal except it's kind of unethical for a company to lie about a product. I like the soft feel of it very much though. My partner and I aren't into extreme BDSM so this works well and won't irritate or cause discomfort when tied up for long periods of time.

I would not call this a high quality rope. It's durable enough for light play, but it will not hold up to any kind of heavy play. As other reviewers have noted, it does come loose in areas and the only thing to seal the ends is a crappy piece of silver tape. It's not even a durable duct tape either! However, I knew what I was getting into when I ordered it. I went ahead and tied knots above the tape just in case.

The 35 foot long rope is a perfect length for us. It will wrap up my partner's entire chest and abdomen and nearly my entire body. We really don't need anything longer than that. Since it is long, that kind of makes up for the ease of escaping. You can wrap it around your partner so many times that it will be difficult to escape, but not impossible. I would say 35 foot will fit most people. You can even wrap it around to make a kind of rope panty and place a bullet style vibrator between the strands of rope to secure the vibe in place! It's even possible to tie yourself to your partner! That's a lot of fun!

I chose this rope mostly because the color options. I know, I'm bad, but I couldn't resist. I wouldn't say it's a bad product at all. It's great for tons of different uses if you get creative enough and the only thing that's not perfect about it is the loose strands and the ease of escaping. The crappy tape at the ends can be replaced with better tape or burned to seal them. So far, the tape that came on it has stayed on and I've had it since December, 2011 (about a couple of months).

Performance

For someone who isn't looking for an extreme restraint, this is great! The first time I used it, I surprised my partner with it and tied him to a chair. It did take me a few tried to keep those hands from being able to move, but with some work, you can restrain your partner a good deal. You can tie your partners wrists to their ankles, tie their hands above their head, etc. It will work in many different ways and we're still coming up with uses for this rope! If you're super creative, you can use it to decorate as well.

Upon first glance, I didn't expect the rope to be quite as durable as it is. If properly cared for and not used for heavier play, it will stay around for a long time. Just be careful about the fraying!

I would label this as simple as it gets when it comes to restraining. There aren't any clasps or anything like that though. You have a simple long rope. Use your imagination and it can prove to make a fun and interesting experience.

Care and Maintenance

NOTE: Using this around the neck can be dangerous. Never use it for suspension purposes as it's not durable enough for that. I wouldn't advise using this around the neck under any circumstances unless it's as decoration purposes. Certainly don't let an untrustworthy person tie anything, including this rope around your neck!

Now, I feel better...

Care and maintenance is pretty simple. I've never gotten my rope dirty or had body fluids on it so hand washing is all I've needed. It can be put in the washing machine, but I would recommend doing so on a gentle cycle if possible. It isn't supposed to be put in the dryer so hanging it out to dry is best. When hand washing, rinsing the soap out can be a pain. Throwing it in the tub and letting the pressure of the water beat down on it works well.

Once youre done using the rope, it's best to untie all the knots right then. I always do and even when I make tight knots, they come out easily. If there's any trouble getting the knots out you can use a pen or needle to slide in there and tug until it comes loose.

Packaging

The rope came in a box with nude images on every corner! It was a pain in the butt to cut the box up, but I couldn't risk it being seen. That's the thing about the Fetish Fantasy products, the overly trashy packaging. Every Fetish Fantasy product I've had has this awful mess all over it. No, it's not discrete. I actually bought this as a surprise gift for my partner. His surprise was me tying him up! I had to open it and trash the box first. It's in a plastic bag that cannot be used for storage. It rolls up easily though and can be stored anywhere. It's also fairly discrete in most instances. I can leave it out or wrap it around my lamp stand and nobody knows what it is used for. It will roll up and store in a drawer or toy box just fine though.

As with every Fetish Fantasy product I've bought, this too comes with that cheap ol' blindfold. It can be used, but isn't nice or the best. I don't even use mine, but keep it around just incase you find yourself competing in a game of pin the tail on the donkey! Or save it for a pinata party. Ok, just throw it away.

Experience

I bought the Japanese Silk Rope because I was sure it would be exactly what I needed for my plan. I had bought a lot of other items (mostly sensual products from Shunga) and made plans to surprise my partner. We had finally got the chance to use the Pleasure Swing I bought and I wanted to surprise my partner by tying him up and torturing the heck out of him. When I do the tying, we end up doing a lot of laughing before finally getting it together. It takes a while to restrain him with this rope, but I have to admit, running around the chair in circles while doing so was part of the fun! Since then we've used it just for basic bondage and for wrapping myself up every so often. I'm pretty darn fond of this pretty pink rope! I'm not a hard core BDSM girl though. I still think it's great for most rope purposes. We've certainly had a great time with it.
