Lovely But Unbroken
The padded easy eyes leather blindfold from Sinvention is a lovely handmade adjustable blindfold. It puts a good deal of pressure on the eyes, which may be lessened somewhat after it is broken in, but which may be uncomfortable to users unused to this kind of sensation.Published: May 13, 2009
Pros:
Beautifully made, leather, adjustable eye patches.
Cons:
Pressure on eyes can cause discomfort even after wearing for a short time.
Sinvention is a Canadian company and is located inside a 125 year old gothic church. They have been making leather BDSM items for over 10 years. Their Padded Easy Eyes leather blindfold is a lovely piece.
This blindfold is handmade, and comes in a sealed plastic bag. It has a great leather smell, and is a good quality black leather with a grain look. Heavy and secure stitches on the band and patches should hold up. The blindfold comes with a lifetime warranty, and if the item needs repair it can be sent back to Sinvention.
Leather is water and tear resistant, and is easily cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild soap. The leather is not sprayed with a coating, but rather treated with a stain repellant, and has natural marks and variations. Periodic cleaning with a good leather cleaner is recommended. This product should not be placed in sunlight (which will cause fading), or near heat sources (which will dry out the leather’s natural oils and cause it to stiffen and crack). It should also not be stored in a sealed container as the leather should breathe.
The blindfold consists of three pieces. The strap is about 30” long and about 1” wide, with a heavy buckle closure. It has 11 holes to adjust the blindfold to fit a wide range of head sizes, and will buckle to as small as about 22 1/2".
Threaded through the strap are two eye patches. Each of these is a 2 1/2" diameter circle, sewn together with tight stitching. The circles are lightly padded on the back, as well as very smooth. They can be slid up and down the length of the band to adjust for any eye set from narrow to wide.
The easiest way to put the blindfold on is to carefully press the patches over the eyes after first determining their optimal width and then buckling the strap around the head. The problem with the eye patches is that they really press on the eyes when the strap is buckled. Depending on the placement, the pressure is strongly on top of the eye or to the outside of the eye. The pressure of the patch does not allow for the eyes to be open. The patches are the right size to completely cover the eyes when the strap is buckled around the head.
The blindfold remains in place well when strapped on, and withstands twisting and turning.

Experience
Since leather items will break in and be more comfortable after several uses, it is possible that the blindfold will become more supple and fit with more comfort. Currently I cannot wear this for very long as the pressure is a bit much for my eyes. I found I adjusted to it when it was on but constantly felt the pressure, and my eyes felt strange when it was removed for a while afterward. I hope to break this in more and do a follow up on if this feels better to wear once I've done that.
Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
I have not found a good way to really get this broken in, and it still puts too much pressure on my eyes. I had hoped this would lessen with use, but it hasn't done so as yet.
It's a lovely piece, but not comfortable for me to wear.

This seems kind of nifty. Nice review, Sammi.
Thanks!
Pressure on my eyes from blindfolds, even after a short period of time, makes my vision go blurry immediately after removing the the blindfold. Did you experience this with these? Good review!
Thanks!
Yes, it was a little blurry for me - I was thinking it might be due to the eye surgery I had a few years ago and the pressure on my eyes.
Thank you!!

Very nice review!
Thank you!
Good to know that it wasn't comfortable on the eyes. We like to use a blindfold for a long period of time, so comfort is an important factor.
This is definitely not for long wear. Thanks for reading!

Shame this one seems to be so uncomfortable.
It really is - I like the design, but just can't wear it.
