Use

If you're looking for a peek into what the wonderful world of bondage has to offer, this is a good place to start.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in non-suspension bondage. The Japanese style of bondage this rope was designed for involves multiple wraps due to the excessive length, or binding of the arms and legs with the elbows tied to the knees for better penetration or positions.

Anyone could use this rope because the length truly is one size fits all. This isn't intended for suspension but could be used for intro to BDSM, and it even came with a free eye cover for sensory play.

Please always be safe while participating in bondage, and please always use a trusted partner!

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

This rope is made of silk, according to the product page, but I think it's really just a soft cotton. Total this rope is 35 feet long, or 10.5 meters. At this length I would almost say it's too long, and somewhat awkward to work with. The rope we have here is very re-usable, and as I said, one size fits all.

Your rope could optionally be cut and turned into two sections, about 17ft each. To properly cut this rope, if you so wish, simply wrap a short piece of duct tape around the middle, or desired spot, and cut through where it's taped. This prevents fraying of your rope.

This is a very durable rope that would comfortably subdue the strongest of men when wrapped properly, but delicate enough for the softest of skins on a woman's body. I honestly tried rope-burning myself with this rope, and couldn't!

Did I mention this rope comes with a free eye mask? It's a flimsy cheap mask but blocks out light well. It may not last forever, but it is comfortable and didn't cost me a thing.
    • Fits comfortably
    • Multiple ways to use

Performance

I found this rope quite fun with my arms bound with multiple wraps, and with the rope tied off to a bed post while my female partner felt "on top of the world". She got to feel like the boss for a change and could have her way with me. Now who do you think was really the winner there? However, I soon retaliated by binding her arms and legs just as I had observed from the very descriptive pictures on the box. It was very fun, and comfortable for us both, and a great look into what bondage has to offer.

After cutting the rope into two equal sections and experimenting, I found it was much easier to work with this way. This also opened up so many more positions due to being able to bind arms and legs separately. Cutting it into two left us with adequate rope for a sturdy hold and comfortable expirience.

This rope knots easily, but put too much pressure on a knot and it might just take someone with a sailor background to get it out. I used a square knot and am still working on untying it. It's not for quick release, so if you panic this might not be for you.
    • Comfortable during use
    • Easy to put on / use
    • Holds up to use well

Care and Maintenance

Care for this rope is minimal, if it gets something on it just wash it with antibacterial soap and warm/hot water in the sink until you feel it is thoroughly clean. Then rinse the soap out of the rope completely, and sun dry by draping over a tree branch, clothes line, banister, or anything that won't just get your rope dirty again.

The free mask is made of a vinyl/polyester water repellent material but it isn't water proof. So if it needs cleaning and you hand wash and sun dry it you should have no problems.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The box is made of a very nice recyclable carbboard that's reuseable for storage. The box has beautiful illustrations of how the product can be used, such as a hog tie with the male, or females, or arms and legs bound behind their back. This packaging isn't exactly discreet, but would make a wonderful gift box.
    • Good for storage
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative

Personal comments

To cover again something I touched on above, if you would like the rope cut into shorter lengths I recommend use of duct tape. You can buy it at many retail stores in an array of colors and it holds very well. Just cut off about 6 inches of the tape and wrap it tightly around the rope where you want it cut. While wrapping, try to keep the tape smooth and flat as this produces a nicer looking end result. Once the tape is wrapped smoothly grab some sharp scissors and cut right in the middle of the tape. Now, voila! You have two nice end caps already on your rope where you cut it.

Remember, if you cut your rope and don't have it taped securely it will fray, and I mean badly. It cost me a good length of my first rope.

Experience

The most fun I have had with this rope is finding new ways of securing it to the bed. If your bed has posts, it's great as you can just tie to them. If you're like me though, and have a bed with a flat headboard and nothing to hook to, you have to be creative. I found if you lift the mattress just a bit there should be a place or three to tie it off to the bed frame. I would say you probably want to do this before you get on the bed and start having your fun as the bed mattress might be a bit hard to lift afterwards.

  • "fetish fantasy series japanese silk rope" -- not silk

link manufacturers page states that this rope is actually made out of cotton.

Talk about a misleading/lying branding system. Is Japanese Silk a trademark of theirs that they make out of chinese cotton?

  • 'Silk' bondage rope listed under 'suspension kits'
    • Hey, Eden? I would like to respectfully suggest you remove this from the 'suspension kits' category. This type of rope is *not* safe for suspension. It's not real silk (Pipedream has confirmed it is actually a cotton/polyester blend), so can fray easily, stretch, and is just a poor idea if you don't want to risk dropping your submissive on their head.

I agree. I made sure to put in my review that the rope is not intended for suspension or partail suspension

    • what are they made of
    • This is a question that could easily be answered by reading the product page! If you just scan it really quickly you can see that hey, these silk ropes are made of rope! It also gives you a link explaining the care of the materials, which is this link! A lot of these questions are better left off of the forums! :)

Rope is typically made of hemp, linen, cotton or (as in this case) silk. To say that rope is made of rope is a bit redundant. :D

But yeah, materials are always listed on the product's page, billybobtoy. It'll always be to the left of the product's picture, and it'll link to some basic care instructions. Though if you need more in-depth information, don't hesitate to ask.
