Review of Fetish Fantasy japanese silk rope - Bondage rope

So, what can you do with 35 feet of rope? As far as I'm concerned, almost anything. Whether you're looking for something to tie someone to the bed or to make a rope harness, this rope is great. Also, it comes with a free blindfold. How cool is that? And, to make things better, it comes in your choice of red, black, purple, or pink, so you can get a rope that matches your existing bondage gear!

After using nothing but white, hardware store rope for a long while, this rope was a lot of fun to play with. It looks good, it feels pretty good, and is easy to clean.

While this is called "Japanese silk rope", it's actually made out of woven cotton. It's pretty smooth when you run it through your hands, but after a couple of uses you can see where it starts getting a little "furry". However, I haven't seen any weak spots in the rope, and it doesn't seem to have stretched, even with my weight pulling on it.

When you purchase the rope, the ends are capped with some sort of silver tape. Said tape is pretty sticky and seems like it'd last a while, but if you'd prefer, there are plenty of tutorials on the internet telling how to sew rope ends to keep them from unraveling. I purposely bought this rope so I'd have a long length for full body harnesses and things of that nature, but if you want to cut it shorter, make sure you either tape or whip the ends or it will unravel.

The rope itself is 1/4" thick, which is a good weight for most bondage. Much thinner and it starts cutting into you if it's tied tightly. Still, unless you're pretty small/light, I wouldn't use this for suspension because it's still thin enough to cause marks and rope burn if I use it to support too much of my weight.

In general, this is a good, multipurpose rope. Despite this rope's smoothness, I've had no trouble with knots slipping. It's heavy enough for some weight-bearing bondage, including tying ankles to headboards. It also works well for shibari, and is a good length to experiment with. However, it's a bit too heavy and bulky for my tastes to use for small projects such as rope gauntlets.



Besides just using the rope itself, we've also used it through the rings on my cuffs and collar to connect them to each other and the bedpost, as well as just looping it through the collar's ring to tie me
somewhere.

This rope is cotton, and therefore washable. I usually put my ropes in a pillowcase, tie it shut, and throw them through the washer and a gentle trip through the dryer, then hang them in the shower to finish drying. I have only washed this rope once, and it didn't bleed or anything, and it didn't seem to fray at all from doing so.

As for storage, it does tangle up easily, but so does any rope. However, it also untangles easily. I usually just coil it up and put it in the toy drawer when it's not out and ready for use.

Discretion? What's that? This rope comes in a big, white box with a tied up, mostly naked woman on the front. The box is sturdy enough that you could keep it for storage if you want, but I just recycled mine.



Inside the box, the rope and the free blindfold that came with it were in simple plastic bags. The rope was coiled around itself with the ends sticking out, but the loose rope itself tucked inside, which made it a bit complicated to unwrap it.

This rope has been used for everything from shibari harnesses to being tied to the headboard. It's also long enough to slip under the mattress or around the head/footboard of our queen sized bed if Dragon wants me more stretched out. This rope gets plenty of use, and has just barely started looking a bit fuzzy. It almost never gets put back in the toy box!
