If Only It Had a Curve
The Rainbow Mega Nubby is a great toy if you like straight, hard dildos. The nubs provide some great-feeling texture, but there is no real g-spot stimulation and use can be awkward since it's rail-straight with no give.Published: October 20, 2010
Pros:
Nice texture, made of solid glass, lots of colorful nubs
Cons:
No curve, texture might be overwhelming for some
The Rainbow Mega Nubby is a highly textured glass dildo made by Don Wands. The texture, copious colored nubs along the entire length of the dildo, is marvelous. The nubs are spaced about a quarter of an inch apart and they stick maybe an eighth of an inch out from the body. The nubs are arranged in bands of color: red, green, yellow, and blue. No portion of this toy is texture-free, except for the very tips.
The Rainbow Mega Nubby is pretty slim, with a diameter of only 1.125 inches. Be aware, though, that the nubs, combined with the fact that glass is totally unyielding, make the toy feel larger than it actually is. I am a huge fan of texture, so this aspect of the toy was great for me, but such huge amounts of texture might be overwhelming if you're new to texture or if you like your toys on the smoother side. If you're not sure, the price makes this an attractive toy to experiment with. Glass is great for temperature play, and cooling this dildo down in chilled water really accentuates the nubs.
The only problem I have with the Rainbow Mega Nubby is the fact that it's completely and totally straight. There is no curve whatsoever. Additionally, since the toy is made of glass, there's no give at all. For me, this made use a little awkward and I couldn't use the whole toy. The Rainbow Mega Nubby is 7.5 inches long, but I can really only comfortably use three or four of them, to stimulate the first few inches of the vagina. Fortunately, that's where the nerve endings are most concentrated, but personally I'd prefer a curve. If the Rainbow Mega Nubby had a curve, it would be the perfect glass dildo and I would never use anything else. Even without the curve, though, it's pretty fun. It's best for slow thrusts since there are so many nubs.
Care for glass: easy! If you want to sterilize the Rainbow Mega Nubby, you can boil it, wipe it down with 10% bleach solution, or throw it (gently) in the top rack of the dishwasher (no soap). If not, you can just use soap and warm water or toy cleaner. The dildo comes with a padded bag, which is perfect for keeping it safe and chip-free. The bag takes up a lot of space, but the it's worth it to keep the toy intact. I would strongly recommend against using this toy for anal play. There is no base or flange and it's better to be safe than sorry.
The Rainbow Mega Nubby is a great, inexpensive, awesomely textured toy. It would be a great way to experiment with texture. It's a classic design (that a few other glass manufacturers have picked up on in various ways) that really does deliver tons of stimulation.

Do the nubs make it more pleasurable?
-
They seem like they would hurt, especially on such an unforgiving material.

For questions like these, read the reviews. See what people who have actually used the product have to say. That'll answer your question.

Glass Dildos

Can someone give me advice on which glass dildos work the best?
-
Quote: Can someone give me advice on which glass dildos work the best?I think it depends on your preferences. Do you like slim, or thick? Texture, or smooth? If you like texture, which kinds do you like?
-
Glass dildos are great! They all get really slick with lube, can be warmed (or cooled) in water, and are totally easy to clean. Texture wise there are all sorts of options, like the nubby you pointed out, or ridged, or smooth varieties. What works best depends probably more on your personal preferences than any one design factor.
I would say that if you like softer and more bendable materials generally you may find glass to be somewhat of a letdown, but if you like firm pressure glass is definitely where it's at.
We have a couple of glass toys (a plug and a few dildos) and really like all of them, not too mention they tend to be a little more fun to look at. Personally we like a mix of glass and silicone toys, because they each have things they are better at, but if you are curious about trying a glass toy out for the first time, definitely go for it. You will probably like it.

Do glass toys "hurt" or feel too hard as opposed to rubber/jelly toys? I really like this and want to order one!
-
I haven't tried that specific glass toy, but I have tried glass toys with "nubs" on them. Honestly, they didn't hurt me in the least -- but, the jelly ones do. I don't understand it.
I LOVE glass though. -
Maybe if you move around and find it's too big, but in themselves, they wouldn't generally hurt (in my exp) :)

Glass Toys

So I don't know much on the topic, but putting anything made of glass inside my body sounds a little scary. Do glass toys ever break?
-
Not usually, most glass toys are made of a solid piece of Borosilicate glass like pyrex. They shouldn't break unless you drop them and even then they may not break the first time they fall.
You should check them for chips before using them, just in case. -
Glass is one of the safest materials you can get, next to stainless steel and silicone. You can boil it and even throw some into the dishwasher! They'll break if you drop them real hard or throw them (especially the cheaper ones), or if you put it in the oven and then in a bowl of cold water, but not inside you!

Thank you for viewing Rainbow mega nubby – dildo review page!

A curve would be great - this is so nice looking
Great review!
Looks like too much texture for me!
Great review, thanks!
Thanks for the review!
Nice review!
Thanks for the review
Love the glass toys.
awesome thanks
Wish there was a curve
Good review!
I can see how the lack of curve would impact play. I've always wondered if the lack of give in glass would really be that comfortable; guess it depends entirely on the shape.
Thanks for the review! My only glass wand has a curved head, so I can understand your complaints about the straightness. Do you feel like the nubs make up for it and do you feel like g-spot stimulation is possible with the straight design?
