Swirled blue wonder of heavenly joy!
For my first glass toy, I am so thrilled that perfection comes with a price tag of under twenty-five dollars. If I had to give one suggestion to make this toy more orgasmic than it already is, it would be to make the ridges deeper.Published: February 7, 2011
Pros:
Bulbous head, ridges, flared base, AMAZING!
Cons:
Nothing...no cons here!
The head. The head. The head. Did I mention the head?
This was my very first glass toy I bought. It was a toss up between the Swirled Blue and the Rainbow Swirl Glass Dildo. Both had similar heads, the g-spot curve I was looking for, and both had textured shafts. I went with the Swirled Blue only because of the continuous swirl that goes from the base of the head to the base.
Let's get the technical details out of the way, shall we?
It is made from pyrex glass, which means that it is pretty gosh darn sturdy. I've dropped it a few times in the shower. (Be warned: soapy hands and a glass toy? Bad combination!) Because it is glass, it is very user-friendly. Nonporous; those with sensitive skin need not worry.
The shaft is a cobalt blue color, you can see through it but it is blue. The head is very clear, no bubbles or imperfections.
His insertable length is about seven inches, with the base adding another half inch on for total length. The diameter is one and a half inches, making for a pleasurable, full feeling. He weighs about one pound in total, so he does make his presence known.
When you get the Blue Swirl, he comes in a lavender colored, plush velvet bag with a draw string tie. I like the bag, I feel comfortable with it, and since I have traveled lots with him on long haul flights into various countries, believe me when I say, it is a good carrying pouch! When I first opened the plastic container Don Wands Blue Swirled Dildo came in, I was stunned. Utterly speechless at how he felt in my hands. His weight, as I said, made his present known. Each ridge under my thumb sent waves of anticipation down my spin making me literally drenched. I did not notice any funky smell or taste; but I must secretly tell you, I only tasted and smelt him after I put him through my dishwasher.
Cleaning and washing: I use an antibacterial soap when washing this toy, and a toy tooth brush. When I first bought it, I did not think about how the ridges would affect clean up. Good word to the wise? Use a tooth brush to help make sure your toy is really clean. There are times when the first couple of times I used it I noticed small dried cake-y stuff. The tooth brush helped to get everywhere to make it sparkly clean.
The base is a flared base, making it good for anal as well as vaginal use (vaginal use to anal, NOT anal to vaginal, unless you have cleaned it good and proper first! Gold star to those of you who do!). Be weary of the head, especially if you are new to anal. Even though this is a glass toy and a little lube will go a long way, use a little more. Relax, breathe, and slide. It is a delightful sensation...but I will explain that in the Experience section.

Experience
Okay...all the technical stuff is above here...let's settle in for the nitty-gritty. Or...the fun stuff.
Originally I bought this toy for vaginal use only. And it was strictly for my pussy for quite a while. I loved the hardness of it. That head became my favourite part of the toy. Orgasming hard around it, then leaving it in and squeezing my thighs over it, while slowly rocking my hips...that head hit every single sensitive spot within me.
As I said, my favorite part of the toy!
The ridges, I really didn't notice them all that much while thrusting. I could tell that they were working over my g-spot though, but I really didn't feel them anywhere else. Be forewarned while thrusting with this toy, you can run the risk of internal bruising if you are not careful. Thrust with caution.
It wasn't until the man I was seeing a few months ago told me he wanted to watch the Blue Swirl disappear in my arse while masturbating. I've always liked anal, but have never played with my ass with toys or fingers on my own before. As I am always curious to try out new things, I decided to give it a go.
And golly gee wow! I am glad I did!
The feeling, the sensation of that head stretching me, then sliding it deeper within me...this is where I found the ridges an orgasmic delight. Each ridge stretched me just a little, then further and further as I took it, each ridge still working its magic 'til just the base remained.
One of the things I like about this toy anally is the base and the ability to sit on it. Yes...it is a wee bit uncomfortable, but I found a little rotating of the base to move the head a little works magic.
I usually will masturbate now with this toy in my arse, and my Fun Factory Semirealistic G-Twist in my pussy. The back of the g-twist is smooth, and as I thrust it in and out, I can feel each ridge upon the shaft of the Blue Swirl. Talk about orgasmic!
Temperature play is lots of fun with this toy; the head, icy cold, sliding over my nipples makes me always gasp. And my body seems to warm it up lickety-split.
As for my suggestion for the "level" of users for this toy? I would say anyone. I am thrilled this was my first glass toy, but I am just afraid it has potentially ruined me for future glass toys as I think this is a perfect toy. We shall see. Must order more glass toys and test them all out! I would strongly suggest this toy as a first glass toy for anyone, male or female. For those of you who are interested in anal, I've nothing really to compare it to when it comes to toys, but this was my first anal toy and I love it! Just remember...lots and lots of lube, relax, and breathe.

Follow-up commentary
10 days after original review
I bought the swirled blue in Augustish of 2010 and it is now February 2011.
It is still my go to toy for vaginal or anal fun. Toys have come and toys have gone since buying this... but this is still the one I think of and, more often than not, is the one that gets me in all the right places.
I wonder if it possible to like it more than when I first bought it?

which one is better for anal?
-
For a beginner the Spiraled G. Texture can easily become "too much" when used anally, especially when you don't have a lot of experience, and the Spiraled G has a more sedate texture. The curve is good for prostate stimulation if you have one.

Best without the hefty price tag.

No one likes to spend to much money on something you can get else where for cheaper.
So what im wondering is what is the best glass dildo for the buck? -

So yes. -
The swirled glass dildo was the first glass toy I bought, and my introduction to anal toys as well.
This has become one of my favourite toys in my Toy Trunk, because it is just perfect. From the fat head to the base and everywhere in between.
If you are looking for your first glass toy... this is the one I would strongly recommend!!!

Not Getting the Extended Review Template
-
I recently purchased this and I was starting my review just now and it won't let me use the extended review template. Looking at the other reviews I see I am not the only person who this happened to, well more than likely since I'm not seeing the extended template used. Does anyone know why? It isn't a huge deal, I'm just curious.

^ What LaUr3n said. I've been checking out some glass dildos recently, so I'll definitely be looking forward to reading your review!

Glass toy pricing

What do you think the deal is with the WIDE pricing for glass toys?
They are all the same material obviously and some are fancier than others but sometimes two can look exactly the same and be a difference of $200.
I recently bought TWO glass toys for a total of $20 and that included shipping. -
It's mostly a question of process (how decorated is the toy, how complex is it to make the decoration, is it handmade, where is it made), but at the extreme low end there is a bit of material difference - tempered soda/lime glass vs. borosilicate glass.

I'd wanted a glass toy for a long time and didn't want to shell out the big bucks for it. I spent about $28 dollars for a similar toy to the one you linked. It's fabulous.

Hi Lauren,
Please don't post duplicate threads on the forums.
The deal with it is that they are made by different manufacturers, and the cost varies widely. Some are hand blown, others are not. Some even contain gold dust. If you look at the Properties tab, you will find that not all glass is alike or equal. That would be like saying every metal dildo or toy is the same - it's just not that simple. -
Also, as some sex toy reviewers are unfortunately finding out, some toys are actually not 100% glass. Some companies fill their toys with water so that they remain "glassy" looking, but don't require as much material.
