I've never experimented with glass before. only silicone. the silicone scares me less because it's soft and has give. but for whatever reason I'm kinda scared that the glass could break inside of me. is this even possible? or am I just crazy?

I don't want to say that it's not possible for the glass to break inside of you, but the chances of that happening are extremely slim.

The glass used in sex toys is insanely strong. It's nigh-impossible to break it with your hands alone, so the chances of it breaking inside you are even slimmer.

There's a chance it could break, but I have dropped glass dildos onto concrete from a height of 12 feet, pounded on them with hammers, heated them to 350F in the oven and plunged them into ice water, and there was no damage to the dildo. It's very unlikely that you'll have a problem if you use a tempered borosilicate glass toy.

Glass toys are perfectly safe when used as directed. If you drop one and it cracks - throw it away. I have glass toys that are 5+ years old and they are in prefect condition.

I agree with everyone else, pretty hard to break one during normal use. Like ScottA, I have done my own testing and while I did get one to break it was during extreme testing, certainly nothing you could do during normal use.
Check for cracks, scratches and chips before use and you will be fine.

They don't use window glass to make dildos. Your body is not strong enough to break one, just make sure to inspect it before each use, in case it got dropped and chipped and you don't know it, although it would take a pretty impressive impact, or possibly a hard fall at the exact worst angle, to manage it.

Have you ever held a glass toy? They are super heavy and thick glass. I am not saying it couldn't happen, because anything can happen, but I think its probably pretty unlikely. I am new to the whole toy thing and decided to make my first one a glass one because they are just so pretty, I was worried about the same thing until I got it and felt it.

I was afraid to try glass until I became a part of the Eden community. Just seeing how popular and safe the material is was enough for me. I'm really glad I took other contributors advice because I now love glass dildos. They're really great. As long as you properly store and care for your glass, it shouldn't break. Just check it for scratches and chips before use.

I've had one for years...I probably couldn't break it if I tried! I've dropped it on marble floors, countertops, wood floors, etc. Not a scratch on it! Hmmm...since it's Pyrex, I wonder if you could put it in the oven to sterilize it, next to your pot-roast dinner, hehehe.

Being similar to pyrex you should be able to bake it but I'd stick to running it through the dishwasher or toss into some boiling water.
