Cupid Didn't Make Me Fall in Love With This
While a nice toy in theory, Cupid Ripples fails in execution. Unpleasant ripples and weak vibrations make this a toy I cannot love.Published: February 24, 2010
Pros:
Soft, pliable, phthalates-free, hypoallergenic.
Cons:
Ripples create too much friction, weak vibrations.
I have written a few reviews wherein I profess my love for textured toys. However, I hate the texture of the Cupid Ripples vibe. Testing it out in my hand I had every reason to believe I would enjoy it. The TPR silicone from which it was made is soft, velvety and a bit squishy. But it causes way too much friction even with the addition of a good bit of water-based lube (do not use silicone-based). It doesn't glide smoothly and it's very unpleasant, even a bit painful.
Here are the specifics:
The vibe is 8" in overall length
6" are insertable
5 1/2" circumference at widest part
It has a large twist cap bottom with a easy push button control on bottom
Requires 2 AA batteries (not included)
Is incompatible with silicone-based lubricants
Completely waterproof
Three vibration speeds
3 vibrational patterns -- I can't really describe them, so I'll borrow from the toy's overview: Rollercoaster / Vibrating / Escalating / Pulsating
Oddly enough, once you've gone through the 3 speeds and 3 patterns, the vibe goes back to its highest speed setting, then its lowest and then it shuts off.
The vibrations aren't very strong but they're not very loud, either. You might hear it through covers on its highest setting, but not a closed door. The vibes are felt mostly through the shaft which is disappointing because the bulbous head is perfect for clitoral stimulation. But you're not going to get that with this vibe.
Unlike pure silicone, TPR silicone is porous, therefore I recommend that you use a condom if you share this with others or if you choose to use this anally. Bear in mind that it is not recommended as an anal toy as it does not have a flared base.
TPR silicone picks up dust and lint just like pure silicone, so I suggest you wash it (or at least give it a good rinse) before each use. It cannot be sterilized, but it can be cleaned with a toy cleaner or soap and water.
I have tried this toy several times now, all without joy. This is definitely not a keeper for me.

Cupid Ripples - Reach the itch you can't scratch.

It honestly looks like it will reach the itch you can't scratch. Anyone agree?

Quote: It honestly looks like it will reach the itch you can't scratch. Anyone agree?I'm always a little dubious about anything with tons of texture if I can't get a feel of it in person first. Most times "Ribbed for her Pleasure" means "Chafing for her Discomfort" to me. :(
I don't have time to read all the reviews right now, but this one sounds like it might be interesting if the ripples are soft enough. Will have to read more later. -

I know what you mean though - I've tried buying all of these "fun" shaped toys, with lots of ribbing, or what have you.. The result is usually "OUCH!!!"
