This Butterfly Did Not Fly, Neither Did I

This toy was very disappointing. I think it is built for the beginner because of the smallness of size. But for a beginner, it has its disadvantages. If you do not study what these toys are made of it could ruin a beginners opinion of using toys as a great sexual venue into pleasure. Especially if the beginner breaks out in a hideous painful rash or worse! This toy is promoted as both a G-spot and clitoral stimulator. Neither of these claims came true for this customer.

Use

When I received the butterfly kiss, I was disappointed in the small size of it, but was thinking "Why not"?, as it could possibly do the job. But after about 20 minutes of frustrated annoyance, it simply left me saying "Why"?! This is yet another "g-spot" promoted toy that is totally unsatisfying. It has an awful drag to it no matter how much lube is used. And to top it off, it's made with toxic materials.

It is kinda cute with it's ergonomic shape and little butterfly, but it felt as if I were having sex with a very tiny limp penis and the butterfly was no comfort to me at all. In fact my butterfly does not "fly": the wings do not flutter at all, the little antennae do not really move unless it is on high speed, and when inserted, the butterfly does not line up with my clitoris. I realize that it may be fine for some users as we are all shaped differently, but not for me.

It was very easy to insert and use and the vibrations felt strong until I inserted it. I think the jelly material stifled the vibrations. Because it is so small and cute, I think maybe this toy would be good for beginners, if not for the jelly material it is made of. This material can cause rashes and reactions to your private parts. Having said that, I would suggest beginners to find a similar product made from safer materials, so as not to scare you away from toy play altogether, if you were to suffer from such a reaction.

Material / Texture

Butterfly Kiss is made of jelly and is totally flexible, which can be a nice feeling and nice change from more rigid substances, but I have some safer silicone toys that are also quite flexible AND non-toxic. The toy only had a slight smell to it when it arrived and disappeared after 1 washing. I did not want to taste it.
The texture is smooth until you reach the end of the shaft, which features upside down hearts (I guess so if you happen to look down while using, you will see them right side up) which have minimal texture to them. They did not really add or subtract from sensations felt, as this part is not insertable. The little butterfly has a ribbed texture as it's belly, with 2 smooth wings and 2 curly-Q antennae. Jelly is not noted for being long lasting or for endurance. It is one of the cheapest materials a sex toy can be made of.

Design / Shape / Size

I actually liked the design of this toy, and had it been larger and made with silicone, it would have been better. Starting at the top, the little bulb on top is 3-1/4" around at it's widest and about an inch long. The bulb is built onto a slender 1-1/2 " diameter, 1- 1/4" long shaft, while on the side of this is a little butterfly "nest" which is supposed to cuddle and flutter your clitoris as you vibrate your g-spot. The "nest" is nearly 5" wide, so as to cup your clitoris. The 1-1/4" long shaft and the 1" long bulb head mentioned above, by my measurements only 2-1/2" will be the insertable length. So, you have a very short, thin toy here. Not intimidating at all. Cutesy Cutesy !!!

Below the butterfly portion, the remaining 1-1/2" of the shaft is made up with hearts with a 4" diameter. The final 2-1/2" is the battery cap. The total length is about 6-1/2" long.

I read somewhere that your g-spot is approximately 3" up on the front of your vagina, above your clitoris. So, Butterfly Kiss may have been made with this in mind. But no, I did not find mine. My Butterfly Kiss is a pretty pool blue, and somewhat translucent. I can see a tiny motor under the butterfly "nest". As I stated before it is very cutesy, appealing and marketed for a young beginner.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Butterfly Kiss has 3 ascending speeds : low < medium< high and off. This may be a turn off for those who would like to go through several speeds without actually turning the toy off. Or for those that need to
turn the toy off in a hurry, but have to go through 3 speeds to do so. Only high speed makes the antennae move. And the wings do not move at all. Overall, vibration of the shaft seemed great until insertion. During insertion something was lost. I can only assume that the jelly material diminished the vibrations.

Butterfly Kiss uses 2- AAA batteries which are inserted into the bottom of shaft. The battery cap is white and the function button is located on the very bottom of the cap. You simply push the button 1 time for low, twice for medium, 3 times for high, and 4 times to turn off. It's very easy to operate.

This toy is not very loud except on high. If using on high, you may want to cover up noise with a radio or tv.
This toy is also waterproof, but I have not used it in the shower and probably will not in the future.
Butterfly Kiss is small enough to travel easily if you wish to do so.

Care and Maintenance

Being made of jelly, you must wash before and after use. I have noticed mine has picked up lots of lint and hair from just lying around waiting for me to use it. Wash with gentle soap and warm water. Harsh soaps may damage the jelly. Jelly can not be disinfected, so of course, if sharing use a condom.

Use only water based lube as silicone may deteriorate the jelly material.

I have heard many horror stories about jelly toys melting, so try to store them in a cool dry place,
away from your more precious toys. If your jelly toy has melted, please throw it away! More of the poisons and toxins in the toy are seeping out and this will make for a disastrous experience for you and your genitals.

Packaging

Butterfly Kiss comes in a clear plastic container molded to the shape of the toy. It has lots of little butterflies on it. With pink background and blue butterflies, it looks very feminine and girlish but it is not discreet at all. You could store your toy in the plastic packaging to keep it safely away from other toys. It's sold by "California Exotics" but it's manufactured in China.

Personal comments

This toy, if for anyone, would be for a beginner. But beginners beware! There are small flexible toys that are not made with toxic materials out there! They may cost a little more, but will last a long time and not poison you. I had to study the material guide here on edenfantasys before I truly knew the basics of buying a safe toy. I suggest all beginners do the same. Get educated about your sex toys. They are supposed to be made to please you- not harm you. I would hate to think that a young girl would have a terrible experience with her first toy and give up entirely on such a great venue into pleasure!
Follow-up commentary
Nope, I really tried to, but I still don't like it. This toy was not for me at all.
I think a beginner would have appreciated it more than I did. If you like this toy, please wear a condom with it. It's jelly.

  • Blue more expensive?
    • Anyone know why the blue is more expensive than the pink? They're the same, right? So why is one more expensive?

  • i have experiment attraction to women,,, i´m bicurious?
    • hi my name is yesenia paris,, and i´m 22 but since i was in high school i kind of have curiosity for girls,, i never like really kiss a girl or anything or i never had any female friend to experiment that, like i am very shy person and also like a lonely girl,, althought i am a very pleasant person and i good human being ,, noone seens to like me,,, but although of that matter i still feel the curiosity may because i have never been with a girl before
does that make a bisexual,a bicurious,of it just because the loneliness or the lock of friends,, like i never have a real
girl friend ,, like it´s samething that happens with boys,, you are not friends with them ,, but you like them in a different way,,, i always thing it´s because my loneliness
and the need of an another ,, girl being friends with me i also don´t have a mom to call and talk about my problems maybe it´s because of that the confusion thanks have a nice day
    • Someone made a similar post a while back, and I'll basically tell you what we told her. Don't follow stereotypes. Don't label yourself. If you are interested in girls, then you just are. If you haven't experimented with girls, personally I feel that when I liked someone it isn't based on any particular factor, it is based on the person themselves. I tell people I am bisexual, but really I think of myself as pansexual, not limiting emotion and attraction to anything. Not gender, not age, not race, not social status.

I think that sometimes people can become lonely and will "settle", making them open their views and ideas of dating up, to allow "just anyone" to enter into their lives. My boyfriend was this way, before meeting me, dating anyone who would say yes because he had no friends, and had been hurt and heartbroken so badly he just wanted to feel loved and accepted. I also have a straight friend who dated women just so she could have someone to date, but she wasn't attracted to them, although she liked to experiment and have fun, she says she is straight, but I don't give her a label.

If you ever need a friend to talk to, I am a good listener :)
    • Excellent advice Peggi and I second that. We don't need labels...we're just people. I'm a good listener too.

  • What's up with different Butterfly Kisses?
    • When I bought my Butterfly Kiss I thought there were only 2 versions - the standard and the Platinum Edition. Since I couldn't find the PE in my country I went with the regular one. I was so bent on getting it after watching Kara Sutra's review of it. She said it was TPR. I got my Butterfly Kiss. On the packaging (plastic shell with a piece of paper) it said that it's "phthalate-free" and made of TPR. I'm inclined to believe it as it didn't smell, didn't turn ugly yellow even when I had it for more than a year, didn't sting my bits (jelly does).

Now, however I see those jelly Butterfly Kisses. What's the deal? Was my vibe mis-labeled or are there more than 2 versions? I still have the paper insert from the packaging if you'd like to see it. The vibe itself looks a bit more opaque than what I see in EF catalog - it's always looked like this.

I would also ask people from EF who deal with the Review Program. Is my Butterfly Kiss same as yours (and thus qualifies for a review) or is it a different product?
    • Hi there!! California Exotic Novelties was the 1st to come out with this fantastic design. & yes we only have 2 versions, the platinum & the original. Check it out on our website link

Many other companies have tried to duplicate our product but have had no success. We are the original creators with the best product :) Hope this helps!

It's the jelly - throw it away or always use a condom. Look for better materials like silicone or VixSkin.
    • I wouldn't even use a condom...just get rid of it and stay away from the material.

  • Jelly Deformation?
    • Well I loved this little bugger and it came at a bargain so I suppose I can't complain too much. But I whipped it out for play tonight only to find that the jelly seems to have dented and deformed itself on the lovely bulbous head. I had it in a pocket next to my turbo glider and I suspect with some heat and pressure, that's the culprit that did this. It has very odd dents/suctionish things on it now.

Is this prone to happen to jelly toys? Could it have been the California summer heat? I would like to prevent this from happening in the future.

But in case people are wondering, this a toy I would glady invest in again.
    • It is my experience that jelly toys just deteriorate really fast...the heat may have sped up this process though. I do know heat can cause more phthalates to leak out of jelly. It probably just kind of melted on you a little. I would have to say you should go ahead and get a new one or better yet, find a comparible toy in silicone! Silicone can be boiled so, heat shouldn't be an issue with it at all! It always sucks when one of your favorites melts.
    • Does your house get pretty warm? I've never had that problem and I live in AZ. Was it touching the turbo glider? Sounds like a toy material interaction to me.
