The "Hot Love" warming massagers are two heat packs with the words "Hugs" and "Kisses" printed across one side. They are each filled with a crystallizing agent that becomes hot at the press of a button.

You'd be surprised how hot these babies actually get! I expected a somewhat warm feeling, but got what felt like something that was heated in boiling water. I thought this was really awesome, and not painful at all. Just a little surprising, which is why it hurt a bit the first time I gave these two a touch.

I made the purchase of the Hot Love massagers because I have really bad lower back pain. My massage therapist often puts heat packs on my lower back as she works on my upper back and it really relieves a lot of my pain. These two heat packs/massagers worked just as well, if not better. The best part is that you can reuse them!

The "magic liquid" within each pillow is made up of water, a small metal disc and sodium acetate, a safe food grade salt ingredient.

The clicking of a disk within the pad triggers the precipitation of the sodium acetate crystals. When the crystals precipitate, it releases the energy that was required to initially dissolve it and stored in the pouch.
Each pillow or heating pad (massagers or whatever you would like to call them) heats up fully within a minute of activating the crystallization. This is done by pressing and snapping the metal disk one or two times back and forth. While doing so, the crystallization begins and the soft liquid turns into what feels like very hot snow. That's how I would describe it.

These massagers have the potential of reaching heat temperatures that can be too hot if you let them sit directly on the skin. This doesn't bother me, but my fiance just couldn't stand the way it felt. This was easily fixed by laying down a sheet over his back before applying the hot passagers.

As these little massagers heat up, I recommend laying them flat on the table. They will harden in whatever shape you are holding them in, which isn't always the best if you plan on actually giving a massage with these.

You can use these massagers for other things besides just massagers. They easily fit inside gloves for use as hand warmers or can be placed on the abdomen to help relieve cramps. I actually used these as heat compresses for some folliculitis on my legs (heat helps kill the infection). My doctor had sent me home with some heating pads just like these but they were not reusable.

To reuse your pads, simply boil them for 3-5 minutes (or until they are clear and fully soft again, with no crystals visible). You should remove them carefully with a spoon or tongs. Be careful not to puncture these pads upon removal, as the heat makes the outer material very soft. Leave them out to sit for about an hour; the liquid material holds heat very well.

If you do plan to use these as massagers, stick to a water-based or silicone-based massage oil or lubricants. Each gel pack is made of vinyl, which is not compatible with oil-based products.

However, I do want to mention that vinyl is somewhat porous so I would personally avoid using any sort of oils or lubricants with these.

Each heating pad is about 3.5 inches in diameter, and big enough to cover the palm of your hand, if not more. They both come individually wrapped in plastic bags and are packaged inside of a very discreet box. The box is covered in X's and O's along with hearts. There are no sexual giveaway words, so you have nothing to worry about if the kids find these.
