extremely useful review
Hot Love is a set of chemically activated massagers by Cal Exotics. If you would like the entire science behind this product in explicit detail, you can check out my review on the Heart Warmer I purchased.

The gist of how this product works is based on a chemical reaction. You snap the iron disc inside and it causes the iron to oxidize, releasing energy throughout the whole product. To re-use, you will simply want to place each of the massagers in a pot of boiling water and boil for 7-10 minutes, or until all of the crystals have dissolved. To prevent the warmer from melting to the pot, be sure to place a washcloth at the bottom of the pot. Of course you will want to take care when removing the item from the boiling water for a couple of reasons. First, you don't want to burn yourself, but also the outer material will be much more easy to pop in this state! Also, do not microwave!

Because boiling sterilizes the product, there really is no need to clean it, but you may choose to use warm water and soap or toy cleaner in addition, if you'd like.

Straight out of the box, the toy does have a bit of a scent to it, much like the warmers made of PVC but with a fainter smell. It basically reminded me of an inflatable pool toy. There was no taste that I was able to detect.

The box that the product comes in is decorated in a cute fashion. With x's and o's lining the box and a picture of the warmers on the front, it is eye-catching! The back lists the important information on how to use the product and Cal-Exotics information. There is a warning on the back that I think I should point out. This product can get up to 129°F/54°C, just like the Heart Warmer. This means that when using the product, you may want to place a piece of clothing between you and the product, or not leave it in one spot for too long! It can burn, especially right after activation, if you let it set on the skin for too long.

For storage, I simply place mine back in the box after they've been boiled and cool off. I have pets, so I have claw-concerns with this product! Yours may be safe to just sit on a desk or in a box away from sharp objects.

The best uses for this product are:
Cramps, warming cold hands, hot "stone" massage, muscle tenderness, aches and pains, headaches, and so much more! Get creative and I am sure you will find many more uses!
Experience
I've enjoyed using Hot Love for stomach cramps and to keep my hands warm while at the computer during the winter! Although the product doesn't stay warm for as long as I'd like it to, I can't complain because it does its job well! I find that the product will stay warm for about 30 minutes, which is a lot less time than the Heart Warmer, but it also heats up to a higher temperature. I rated this product 5 out of 5 stars! I plan to buy more! So far I've used each of them at least a dozen times, and so far no signs of wear and tear or breaking!
Follow-up commentary
I STILL love Hot Love! I use these very often, and at this point I've used them at least 50 times or more! They still heat up just fine, reset perfectly and there are no tears or snags in the packaging. These have been great for the cold winter days and for my neck pain. I also enjoy using this as a heating pad for cramps!

So... which one is *better*? These don't last as long, but get hotter... but which do you like most, if I was only going to buy the Heartwarmer or these?
  • Contributor: Peggi
    thanks everyone!

And Antipova, I would have to say that I prefer them both for different things. If I just want some quick warmth and want it really hot, like for cramps, I'll grab these. For something more long-term, like muscle aches or headache, I'll grab the heart warmer. If I HAD to choose, I'd say I prefer the Heart Warmer, simply because I use it more. I mostly use these as a hot stone massage for my guy, because these work better for that.
