Oil of love by Kama Sutra - review by Dawn (Lilac Distraction)

Oil of Love is a flavored oil that warms when blown on. It has a wide variety of good areas for application. You can trail it along your lover's body, blowing on it as you explore their skin to produce the warming sensation, and then trace over it with your tongue and enjoy the sensual flavor. It's great for nipples, breasts, thighs, stomachs and several other erogenous zones. It can enhance your romantic time with a partner because this oil is meant as a sensual teaser. It can be appreciated by couples of all sexualities.

It's not meant to be used for oral on a female, because the main ingredient is glycerin. Glycerin can upset the natural vaginal chemistry and possibly lead to infection. However, putting a drop on the clitoris and licking it off soon after shouldn't cause much of an issue. Try not to let this stuff go anywhere internally. It can be used for fellatio, but the staying power of it, when compared to oral lubes, is pretty low. It's also not the best thing out there for massages, as it is entirely too sticky and leaves way too much residue behind.

The ingredients listed are: Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua/Eau), Sucrose, Citric Acid, Sodium Saccharine, Flavor (Aroma), Yellow 6 (CI 15985), Red 40 (CI 16035), Blue 1(CI 42090)

Three of those ingredients are sugars. If you're prone to yeast infections, don't let this stuff go anywhere near that area. It is water-based and latex-safe.

While this product claims to be an "oil", it really isn't. It's not a lubricant, and not too slick. When rubbed in, it has a slightly velvety texture that gives way to stickiness pretty quickly. If you let this sit on your skin, or you don't wash it off, you will have a sticky, sugary residue left behind. Even after being licked off, some of the stickiness is still left on the skin.

It is easy to pour, but with this oil, it is best to apply it by taking some on your finger and then tracing it on your partner's body. You don't need much of this for the warming sensation when blown on. When applied this way, it doesn't run. The bottle is not sealed very tightly so it may leak if stored sideways.

The scent is mildly strong. As soon as you open the bottle, you can smell it. The scent also lasts during application, but does not remain on the skin after washing. The raspberry flavor does have a very berry-like scent that is somewhere between natural and artificial smelling. Overall, I'd give the scent about a B.

When it comes to the taste, I was disappointed. It does taste like raspberries . . . if those raspberries were loaded with chemicals. It has a slight hint of bitterness along with the sweetness. I attribute this to the fact that it is a warming oil. I really did not enjoy the taste at all and it took away from the experience. Without the chemical taste, it probably would have been a lot better, as the flavor is good. I just couldn't get past the slight burn on my tongue. For taste, it gets a C-.

The oil's taste and scent do end up lingering for a while until it is washed off. When blown on, it doesn't really heat up too much. It's just a slight warming sensation. I couldn't tell if it was the heat of the oil or the blowing that I was feeling. After the product dries up, which doesn't take very long, the warming sensation vanishes. There are much better products made for this that are on the market. For performance, it gets a D.

This stuff must be washed off to remove the sticky residue. Because it is water-based, and not a true oil, a little water should do the trick. Soap isn't necessary. It also cleans off easily with body wipes.

The 3.4 oz bottle should last for quite a while, as only a small amount is needed each time. I've wondered about how much of a seal the cork actually provides and whether or not it will degrade or lose effectiveness over time. I've used this over 10 times and have barely made a dent in my bottle, but it's not something I use very often.

I think the thing I enjoy most about this product is the glass, cork-top bottle that it comes in. It looks pretty elegant and I actually have it sitting on my bedside table as decoration. It's not discreet, as it says KamaSutra on it. It's also not travel friendly. It doesn't take much for the cork to pop out of the bottle. Make sure this is stored sitting upright so that it doesn't leak on anything.

It has a very light warming sensation. Some may not be able to feel it.
