Souffle for the Lemon-Lover's Soul

For years I've gotten by with discount store bath and body products because there is such a wide selection available for such a low price. However, I've found a product that is worth paying a higher price for since I love fresh and fruity scents.

When I take a shower with the scrub, the scent fills the air. When I moisturize with the souffle, the scent fills the air and when I use the solid parfum, the scent carries with me throughout the day. What more could I ask for?

Use

Island Hopping Body Souffle is made by Not Soap Radio. It is designed to be used alone or with other Island Hopping scented products from Not Soap Radio to layer the fresh light lemony citrus scent on your body.

The instructions on the jar state, "After showering or bathing, massage a generous amount into warm, damp skin. Pure bliss, your skin is velvety soft, your spirit is renewed".

I recommend that you use this on your body but not on your genitals or face. Because this has glycerin, it could help cause yeast infections if used internally or on your genitals. It was not designed to be used on your face and I am concerned that it could cause breakouts or acne.

The ingredients are: Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG 100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclomethicone, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Buttter, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Copernica Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Xanthum Gum Powder.

If you have allergies, please be sure to check any and all bath products for ingredients that you might be allergic to.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

When it cones to body moisturizers, there are three basic "types".

The first type that is most commonly known is the body "lotion". This has the highest percentage of water in it for all three types of moisturizers and it needs to be reapplied most often.

The middle type is the "body souffle" or "body cream" type of moisturizer. This has less water in it than lotions and usually comes in a jar instead of a bottle. You have to reach into the jar to take out the moisturizer. Part of the reason this product is this consistency is due to the fact that it is whipped, much like whipped cream is cream that is whipped in a bowl. This makes a lighter product which can still be spread but it is a bit thicker than body lotions.

The last (and thickest) type of lotion is the body butter family. These have the lowest percentage of water in them and the highest percentage of the oils and butter products. These are also in a jar like the second category but they are thicker and closer to a vaseline consistency than to a whipped cream consistency.

This product is from the second category of products. It is whipped into a souffle consistency and is light and easy to spread. When I put a small amount of it on my hand, it stays in one place and does not run off if I turn my hand sideways, whereas most bottled lotions would do that.

I love the feeling of putting this on my body. It is very thick and almost feels as thick as body butters to be honest with you. It spreads easily and I don't feel any grease at all. I can put this on in the morning and not put any more on until I go to bed, and even then, I don't need to put on more. I just happen to like the scent and my husband loves the scent, so I like to put it on twice a day.

Taste / Aroma

My favorite fragrances are fresh fruity scents and this one is a perfect match for my taste. It has a very citrusy, lemon smell to it. When I think of lemon fragrances, I think of Jean Nate' which has a thicker and heavy lemon scent and Love's Fresh Lemon scent which is very light and airy. This scent is closest to Love's Fresh Lemon and while it has other base notes in the scent, it works well with the Love's spray.

I just put this on here in the living room and my daughter is about 8' behind me. She said, "Something smells really good". I only used a pea-sized amount of this lotion and the scent spread that far.
    • Smells good

Performance

As I stated above, I try to use this product twice a day. I don't need to use it twice a day and once would be enough. However, my husband loves the smell of this, so I try to put a little bit on my arms and elbows shortly before I go to bed.

One of the major things I like about this product, and the whole Not Soap Radio line of products, is that the scent is fairly strong at first and it fills the air around you. I've used products before where I could smell it on my skin, but not in the air. When I use a bath or body product and the scent surrounds me, even if it is only for the first few moments, it feels "luxurious" to me. All of this line of products feels that way and while I am a cheapskate at heart and usually only buy body products from the discount store, I've decided that I MUST make room in my budget for this line of products.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Long lasting

Packaging

This souffle comes packaged in an 8 ounce clear tub with a black lid. The blue labels give the name on the front and top of the jar and instructions on the back of the jar. I love the line that states, "Reality is only a state of mind".

The package is definitely discreet but it is not suitable for travel in carry-on luggage due to its size. You would need to put it in your checked luggage.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

If you currently have a "signature scent" that you wear all the time or if you are looking for bath and body products that won't interfere with your scents, I do not recommend this line of products and suggest you look at the Cake line instead because their scents are softer.

I really believe that the Not Soap Radio line of products is best used if you are using several of the products in the same scent together or if you already use fruity or fresh airy scented perfumes and colognes. Otherwise, you will find this fragrance interfering with your other products.

However, if you like this scent, I can heartily recommend the products that I am linking to at the bottom of this review. I have used them all and enjoy them. There are also two other products for this scent that I have not linked to because I have not used them.

Personal comments

I would like to state that I also have the "Lounging Poolside at a Beach Resort" scent and it is also a delightful fragrance if you like fruity smells. I smell the coconut in it but my husband insists that he smells a soft strawberry scent.
