You're too Sweet for me, Sugar.

If I didn't get this on sale, I would have felt had. The cake scrub isn't bad, but once you get past the cool look of it, you'll see its other faults.

Use

The Cake Brown Sugar Scrub is a bath and body product. It is designed to exfoliate skin when washing. Also, with the name Cake, this sugar scrub does smell like an edible sweet. This product is great for those who love very sweet and edible smells. It's also an option for those who like the feel of a coarse scrub when washing. I would not recommend the Cake Sugar Scrub to those with mor sensitive skin. While the ingredients are relatively simple, the coarseness of the scrub might irritate skin, even if used gently.

Also, since this scrub's main ingredient is sugar, be careful when using this item around the vagina and anus. The sugar is a good food source for bacteria and could alter the balance of your vaginal ecosystem. You can use this scrub on the vulva, but I would recommend a much milder, smoother, soap when washing more delicate folds.

If you decide to get this scrub, it's best to do a test spot first. Wash only a small amount of your forearm. Then wait 1 to 2 days to see if there was any adverse reaction.

The Cake Body Scrub is not designed for direct sexual encounters. Using it might get you in the mood for intimacy, but it's not designed to be used in conjunction with sex acts (such as oral sex or penetration of any sort).

The Sugar Scrub is very interesting. When you open the jar, you may get some stringy, dries sugar on the rims of the top. Inside, the sugar crystal are quite large. They remind me more of coarse sea salt than brown suage in terms of size. Also, the scrub has liquid in it, but it's quite dry compared to other scrubs. Many other scrubs have the exfoliating part embedded in a liquid or wash. The Cake Scrub is really just sugar crystals.

There is moisture from the other ingredients, but this items is not designed to pour. If anything, it's designed to let you scoop the product out with a spoon, loofa, or your fingers. Here's a picture of it close up. It was hard trying to get a high quality shot of it so close.

If you can see in the picture, the scrub can be depressed by a finger and that indent will remain since the sugar doesn't have an accompanying liquid. If it did, it would probably be half disolved and wouldn't have the exfoliating properties. The scrub is easy to use. While it's coarse, it tends to stick together if you grab a portion of it. I recommend using a washcloth when using this in order to rub the scrub around and not have it all drop in the drain before you use it.

Sugar is sticky. You can expect that from the Cake scrub. The stickiness does go away after washing, but it still felt like I had a film on me after using. This could be because I didn't scrub hard enough. I was gentle with the scrub since it felt quite coarse on my skin. Because I felt residue on my skin, I washed myself again with a mold soap. Still, the scent is so strong that even after a second washing, I could still smell it.

Taste / Aroma

Cake Body Scrub indeed has an aroma. If you like it depends on your preferences. As someone who prefers more fresh scents (like citrus and cucumber, for example), I found this product to be a bit strong. However, I'm not a fan of scents that smell very edible. If you do want to smell edible and delectable, this scrub is for you. The body scrub smells rich and sweet, like a backed pie. It gives me a more autumn feel since it has deep, rich, and sweet tones to it.

The scent is strong and dissipates a bit with washing. However, the scent remains on your skin a bit. Also, this scrub by itself can make your entire bathroom smell like a pie, even if its closed. It's that strong.

The Cake scrub, while mainly sugar, does not appear to be edible.
    • Strong smell

Performance

How long the scrub lasts is determined by how much you use at a time. It does come in a big jar and has a lot of product. Still, if you get it as full price, Cake is a bit expensive, even in this quantity.

The Scrub washes away well. Once in a while you may find a stray granule on the shower, but the water will wash it down the drain. I also like to close the jar tightly and rinse it well after use. I do this so I don't have any residual sugar on the surface since bugs like sugar and this product is mostly sugar.

Again, the scrub feels nice going on initially, but I don't feel truly clean after using it. I always feel like I have to use something else afterward. Either way, my skin if exfoliated, so it did do its job. Then again, what do you expect from a product that is sugar?
    • Gets sticky
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water

Packaging

All liquid product come in an additional plastic bag to contain any possible spills during shipping. Upon getting the item, I noticed residue inside the bag, so some of the product leaked a bit. It wasn't much, but present. I opened the plastic and reached the jar. The jar had sugary residue on top. It was sticky and greasy, but it did rinse off with some soap and water. I tried to capture a picture of it before washing it off.

If you're going to travel with this scrub, do put it in a plastic zip-lock bag. I would always keep it upright as well to prevent leaking. Overall, this product is discreet. It's a body scrub. There are no sexy words or phrases on it. You could buy it off Eden and give it to anyone as a gift, they wouldn't know it came from a sex toy site.

Experience

It took me a while to do this review. Some of you may have read my forum post about me unwrapping the box that had the body scrub in it. But I think I managed to do a decent job being unbiased.

I go this product one a very good sale, and I would probably only buy it again at that sale. I think this scrub is too pricey for what it is. There are better, more affordable products out there. I also wish it was a one does all scrub. I never feel clean after using this scrub so I always have to use another soap.

Overall, I've kept it around because it smells all right and is nice. It'll be nice to use occasionally in the fall.
