If you want to go and take a ride wit me...

A great, versatile lube that's free from nasty chemicals and is from a reputable manufacturer. It can also be used for a variety of purposes unrelated to sex. However, I personally prefer thicker lubes.

Use:

I wonder what made me decide to purchase a silicone lube. All of my toys are made from silicone and I’ve been more than happy using water-based lubes with them, especially my all-time favourite, Sliquid’s Sassy Booty. Basically, I just wanted to test whether silicone lubes are truly superior to water-based ones it terms of sleekness and lasting power. Even more than that, I wanted to test the claim that good quality silicone lube can be used with good quality silicone toys.

Why Ride? I have extremely sensitive skin, so I was looking for a lube with no harmful ingredients and from a reputable manufacturer. My experience with Sliquid products has always been nothing but positive, so naturally I chose a silicone lube from their range. Yes, Ride is a Sliquid lubricant; it just has different packaging to appeal to male consumers. In fact, I’ve tried to compare ingredient lists of Ride and Sliquid Silver and they appear to be exactly the same. This makes me think that it is exactly the same product, only packaged differently. This information is not confirmed, so please don’t quote me on that.

Ingredient list: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol.

As can be seen above, there is nothing in this lube apart from three different types of silicone. It means that there are no parabens, sugar-derivatives and other nasties that can be potentially harmful for your skin and vaginal health. It also has not been tested on animals.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity:

I was surprised at how liquidy this lube is. For some reason I was expecting it to be a lot thicker. Texture wise this reminds me of dry oil. If you have ever used a silicone-based make-up primer or a split-ends' serum, then that is exactly how this lube feels applied to the skin. To describe this lube in three words would be: sleek, velvety and dry. One major advantage that this lube has is that it does not feel cold when applied to the skin. Water-based lubes do that and it doesn’t feel nice.

Packaging:

The bottle of the lubricant is elongated and is made from dark plastic. The material of the bottle seems to be the same as the one used for other Sliquid lubes, but in a different colour. Because this lube is so liquidy, I have no trouble dispensing it from the bottle. The lid does not allow a large amount of lubricant to escape in case the bottle falls down which is always good. The product washes off the skin easily, but I would not suggest to use it in the shower. It is very slippery, so there is a good chance of breaking your neck. I had zero trouble washing this lubricant off my sheets.

Personal experience:

I have used this toy with two different silicone toys: Fun Factory G4 Big Boss and Tantus O2 Mark. I was mostly concerned about the softer layer of O2 silicone, but neither of the toys has showed any signs of damage. Regardless of my experience, please perform a spot test with every toy; you might get very different results.

This lube is a little more expensive than water-based lubricants from Sliquid, $17.99 vs $12.99 for 4.2 oz., however a little goes a long way. This lube is fantastic for hand jobs, vaginal sex and toys without much drag, such as the ones made from glass. It provides a nice slip and lasts forever. Although I have mentioned that it does not react with silicone toys, it is not great to use with them, either. I wonder if this is because it is so thin, but it does not help to reduce the drag of silicone toys. I have not used it with any toys made from smooth silicone, but with my Big Boss and Mark, using this lube is a painful experience. I cannot comment on this lube and anal sex, but I would personally prefer a thicker lube for better cushioning.

Unconventional uses:

This lube is incredibly versatile and can be used outside the bedroom. I have used in to oil the hinges of my laptop, as a make-up primer (dry skin only) and to remove knots from my hair. I know it might sound strange to use lube for all of that, but it is actually no more than liquid silicone in a bottle. I think it would also work great for chafing if you suffer from it.
