BSatisfied by the BCurious

The BCurious is a great rechargeable vibe designed with comfort, quality and ease of use in mind. It offers a variety of patterns and impressively strong vibrations, delivered with pinpoint accuracy to make them even more stimulating. It's also lovely and quiet, making it a great eco-friendly choice for clitoral stimulation. The fact that it's made of silicone and waterproof is just icing on the cake.

Use

The BCurious (BC) is one of only a handful of rechargeable vibes specifically designed for pinpoint/clitoral stimulation. Its curved, slim shape means it can nestle in the palm of your hand and target your clit, as it curls over your mons and sits nicely in place. Of course, you can use it for any other type of external stimulation that tickle your fancy as well! It's not designed for insertion because of the curled tip, focused vibrations and hand-friendly thicker end, so best to check out the multitude of other vibes actually designed for internal use if that's your cup of tea. The BC is much slimmer and sleeker than the similar and newly released Better Than Chocolate vibe, as it doesn't have the added chunkiness required to fit in batteries. To me, the BC sort of looks like some high tech piece of sports technology or computer equipment and performs just as impressively as you may hope from its looks.

Material / Texture

The BC feels like it's made of a hard plastic with a thin coating of silicone on top. It doesn't seem to be a textured plastic because if I run my nail across it it leaves a line, which can then be rubbed away, suggesting that it's a thin yet rather luxurious coating of silicone. It's silky smooth in your hands without getting too slippery when sweaty palms or various love juices creep into the mix. The pink swish that runs around the middle definitely feels more like the type of silicone I am familiar with and tends to pick up a bit more lint and feel the tiniest bit tacky. However, in use this doesn't really make a difference as it's there for show more than anything else.

Design / Shape / Size

The Bcurious is super small and light and shaped to fit the curves of your body whilst being easy to hold and maneuver around your clit. It's about 4" or 10cm in length and about 1.5" or 4cm wide at the thickest part, but the tip is only around an inch or about 2cm wide, so it gives lovely pinpointed stimulation. When I say pinpointed, I mean it! You must use the tapered end for play, as that's where all of the vibrations are concentrated. This gives it some extra kick compared to other vibes that can put out similar amounts of power, but have more diffuse vibrations. The BC isn't for those who like more of a softer, 'massaging' sensation, it gets straight to the point. It's also waterproof, which makes it suitable for all sorts of adventurous fun. Having washed it in the basin and taken it for a spin in the shower I can back up these claims. You should make sure the silicone socket cover is firmly in place before you do get it wet, but if you do happen to get a bit of water in the charging socket try blotting it out with a tissue and blowing gently across it to push out the water.

The one design flaw I'd say the BC has is the pink silicone swirl around the middle. As it's not one solid piece this leaves a crevice on either side of the swirl where it joins the body of the toy. Whilst it's pretty hard to see any gunk getting stuck in here, I ran a pin down one side and found stuff can actually accumulate in there - even if you do wash it well after use. It's not the end of the world, especially as that silicone part doesn't really come into contact with your skin, but something you might want to watch out for when you're cleaning up.

Functions / Performance / Controls

To switch the BC on all you need to do is hit the power button, which will light up the control panel with a blue backlight, then hit the pattern button to start the vibrations up on the first speed. There are three different levels of steady vibration and four different vibration patterns. The first is a 'stuttering' escalation from low to high that goes for about three seconds. The second is a strong, relatively slow pulse, with the third pattern being a faster version of this. The fourth goes along the lines of BZ BZ BZ BZZZZ, so three short pulses then a longer steady buzz. Though it's not a silent toy, it's not audible through a closed door and on high is still quieter than a typical bullet.

When it comes to assessing vibration strength and pitch, individual opinions vary a fair bit from toy to toy and the BC definitely seems to divide the masses! Personally, I think the BC packs a great punch for how quiet and small it is. On the highest steady setting it's comparable to about 3/4 of the power of a normal bullet, which is enhanced by a shape which facilitates pinpoint stimulation. The vibrations are fairly shallow or 'high pitched', not the rumbling, body shaking sort, but they're very smooth thanks to the rechargeable motor. For me, this is great, but for those looking for more diffuse, deeper vibrations I can understand that it wouldn't be as satisfying.

The main downside to the BC controls is that they don't lock and because it's rechargeable you can't just slip out the batteries to be sure it won't buzz on at an inopportune moment. However, I did a bit of experimenting myself and found it would be pretty difficult for it to turn on by accident, as you'd have to hit the power button, then the pattern changing button in the right sequence for any vibrations to start up. However, I've also had the problem of accidentally changing the function or turning the vibe off whilst using it, especially when laying down. This is because I tend to have my thumb on the end to direct things a bit better, rather than curling my hand around the top like most people would tend to do!

Care and Maintenance

The BC is super easy to care for because it's waterproof and silicone. You can just give it a scrub in the sink with some anti-bacterial soap and water, or you can wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution if you want to sterilize it. The only downside is that it's not compatible with silicone lubes, but honestly you probably won't really need a whole lot of lube for this toy as it's for external stimulation only.

It comes with a really nice fleecy pouch, which feels softer and less cheap than the usual satin storage bags toys come with. It has a drawstring at the top and is thick enough to prevent your BC from getting bumped around too much in your toy box and stops it gathering lint. The bag doesn't shed either, so you don't have to worry about ending up with a woolly vibe when you pull it out again!

Charging is simple and painless, you just flip open the little silicone plug covering the charging point and pop in charging cord. The backlight will flash whilst it's charging and will switch to a solid blue light when it's finished, so you know when it's done juicing up! It's suggested that you charge your BC for two hours to receive two hours of play time and that seems about right from my experiences so far.
