Use

I would like to start this review by saying the Hitachi Magic Wand is not for beginners. This is a classic vibrator that should reside in every girl’s toy chest, but only once she has learned to properly use a vibrator of this kind. The Hitachi is not a toy that can be inserted, so that means you have to work with your clitoris. At first glance this toy may seem a bit harsh for your clit, but I can assure you it just isn’t, even on the high setting.

The problem that some women come to is usually the intensity of the vibration, not the vibration itself. Here comes the part where you need to work with it. I’ve used several things to cover the head of my wand so that the vibrations feel different. Now, you can use an attachment that does the same thing, but you don’t need to. Find a blanket, find a bed sheet, and maybe a dildo, and experiment.

This is the kind of toy that, when used with others, can produce a mind-blowing orgasm. I’m a very meticulous person and I don’t like dildo/vibrator combinations. The Hitachi was a perfect fit for me because of this. I would say 20 percent of the time I use it with other toys, and almost always use some kind of cover or cap with it.
On the surface it’s the perfect toy for just about any type of woman; batteries have never worked for me, so the Hitachi has replaced most of my other vibrators. With the Hitachi you don’t have to worry about running out of power in the middle of your orgasm.

The only thing I don’t like about the Hitachi is the fact that it gets dirty if you don’t cover it at all times. It will get dirty from usage with a cover, or if you spill something on it. I made the mistake of using food while using the wand, and I stained it, and was never able to fully get the odd color off. After having it for so long (Almost three years) I figured I’d buy a new one and just protect the head. I now just use condoms or covers when I masturbate with it. Regular condoms fit snuggly over the head, and doesn’t affect the vibrations at all.

This is truly a must-have toy, but I think its abilities have been overestimated, and it has been praised for the wrong reasons. It’s not a great, lifetime, vibrator because it gives you earth shattering orgasm in a speedy manner; it’s a great vibrator because it gives you different kinds of sensations, and it allows you to dictate, using other objects or toys, how the vibrations are distributed. If you throw a blanket on top of a regular vibrator, it’s very unlikely that you will come to an orgasm but if you do the same thing with the Hitachi, you’re likely to still receive great, toned down, vibrations. To some, the wand may not have enough control, but what they fail to understand is that with the Hitachi you have the control.

Material / Texture

The Hitachi Magic Wand is made out of plastic. The texture is not smooth to the touch. It is a bit grainy in appearance, and it feels a tad bit harsh when used.

The head is extremely flexible, and the body is solid.
    • Flexible
    • Porous
    • Somewhat porous

Design / Shape / Size

The size of the Hitachi can be intimidating. It's very large, much larger than the picture.
It has one switch, that has three settings: high, low, and off. I love this design because it's so straight forward.
    • Large
    • Odd
    • Whimsical / artistic

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations are localized in the head. The whole head vibrates, and there is no lack of vibrations in any part of the head.

The toy is very noisy, but it never bothered me. As long as you live alone, or are genuinely uninterested in how people view your masturbation schedule, you should be fine. This toy could possibly wake someone else up if they were sleeping 3-12 feet away from you; any further and the toy just sounds like indescribable noise.
    • Easy to use
    • Long lasting power
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

I would recommend using condoms or covers while using this toy, and while storing it. I store it in a large box with my other toys, and I always cover it before putting it away.

This toy will stain if you dont keep the head covered.

The Magic Wand is fairly easy to care for.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

It came in a non-sexual box. It came with instructions on how to use it..
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Minimal

I am so sorry. I hit somewhat useful on accident :/ I swore I hit extremely useful. Anyhow, I'm not a fan of the staining either. I got rid of my Hitachi last month. I loved it, but you really do need a cover for it.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

  • Universal
    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

  • Hitachi
    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
