Metal plugs--are they worth it?

I've seen a lot of threads about choosing one plug over the other but what I'm wondering is if the metal plugs are worth the price tag. The shapes seem a bit odd to me and I'm unsure how they would feel for me because in reviews everyone says it varies person to person. I also can't figure out if it's a better option than other materials.

Anyone here actually own a metal plug and are they worth it?
