Try this silicone Mood Naughty medium plug, it's only 1 inch in diameter and should be a good starter plug. It's out of stock right now, so you'll have to wait for it to be back.

If you want to go for something else, just remember to pick a plug that has a long and narrow neck similar to the Mood Naughty's. It enables the anal sphincter muscle to have a better hold onto the plug, and prevent it from sliding out.
