Triple ripple royal - butt plug discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Research

The Doc Johnson Triple Ripple is not joking around. The Royal version is the largest in the set and is biggest by far. At 2 3/8" across at the widest bulge, it is one of the thickest items you can get and is absolutely not for beginners.

The Triple Ripple is most effective as a training tool I think. The graduated bulges allow you to slowly and carefully work your way down the toy, letting your body adjust before moving on. With lube and patience you could have this item fully inserted in no time, getting you properly warmed up for either larger toys or fisting.

The Triple Ripple is made of Rubber so you are going to have to be a little more thorough when cleaning it. Rubber is a porous material so it is a good idea to use a condom to minimize bacteria transmission, otherwise be sure to clean the toy well with soap or antibacterial wipes.

Being rubber, the Triple Ripple is pretty much going to taste like it. It is a pretty big and oddly shaped item however and likely isn't going to go into your mouth without a fight. The rubber is fairly soft and heavy which gives you a nice feeling when it is inserted. The smooth texture is a must for such a wide item, any texture at all would likely cause pain.

The design is excellent. The shape is ideal for slow, controlled accommodation while the smooth rubber surface is slick and comfortable. The length is short for a dildo but just right for a large plug. If a large plug is what you want, the Triple Ripple is ideal. It really is too much for beginners though, trying and failing to take such a big item could be discouraging so if you are just starting out, consider the small or medium versions of this first.

The Triple Ripple is really a fantastic training tool. It does a masterful job of getting you ready for a larger toy, or just giving you that nice, full feeling. The weight of the rubber makes it feel solid and secure, and the base is wide enough to make the whole item stable.

The Ripple performed like a champ, taking lube well and doing exactly what it was meant to do. A suction cup on the base would have been a nice feature, but since this is a plug and not a dildo, there is little need for fancy pants city slicker features like that. This is just to warm up remember.

Being a rubber toy, and rubber being porous, you want to make sure you get this guy good and clean afterwards. The rubber can only be used with water or silicon based lubes so make sure none of your stuff has oil in it.

Since the Triple Ripple is pretty dang big, you might have trouble getting it into a pouch or small toy concealment device. You are probably going to want to keep this one in a toybox. Luckily, rubber doesn't attract dirt or lint much so it stays pretty clean.

The Triple Ripple came in pretty standard plastic packaging. The Doc Johnson logo was featured prominently and otherwise it was about what you would expect. No included instructions but who reads those anyway?

Again, I would classify this as less of a toy and more of a tool. While you get a great feeling from it, its real strength comes from helping you accommodate larger toys after warming up. If you intend to do some stretching, there is no better help than the Triple Ripple.

This toy really did the trick for stretching me out. I found I had better luck leaning into the item with my body weight than trying to push it in myself. I found I could take the whole thing by my second session with only about 15 minutes of working up to it. Now it's one of my favorites.
