Aluminum mini - butt plug by Cal Exotics - review by Beck

The Aluminum mini is a mini butt plug. Butt plugs are meant to be worn for extended periods of time, as part of double penetration, or during masturbation and/ or intercourse. Butt plugs come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and materials. It's best to try multiple types of plugs to see what works well for your body.

To use a butt plug, all you have to do is lube it up and insert away. If you are using a larger size, you might want to warm up prior to inserting something larger than you know you can take. Inserting something larger than you can mange could result in injuries.

Butt plugs can be used by men and women alike. Although, some designs might be more suited for certain genders. They can also be used vaginally as a kegel exerciser.

The Aluminum Mini is an aluminum plug that has all users in mind. Though, some might not like the idea of a gem at the base. Aluminum is a firm and unforgiving material, so be careful with it because it can hurt you if you are forceful with it.

This plug is made of Aluminum. Aluminum is an abundant metal found in Earth's crust. It's the third most abundant element after oxygen and silicon. This is a firm material that has no give to it whatsoever.

Aluminum has the ability to resist corrosion, which means it will never rust. It has a low density, which makes it light weight. Like most metals, aluminum has the ability to take on temperatures to it's surroundings. So, you can enjoy it for some temperature play.

The best way to do temperature play is to soak your toys under warm or cool temperatures. You should never try to boil and insert. You can put this toy in the fridge, but I wouldn't recommend the freezer. Be sure to test on your wrist prior to insertion.

Aluminum is rated in at an 8 out of 10 on the safety scale because it is a food grade material that is latex and pthtalates free. The aluminum is polished and seamless. Should you have a metal allergy, you might want to avoid this toy.

There is a gem on the base of this aluminum plug. The material of this gem isn't noted, so I would avoid putting this in the dishwasher or boiling it. The gem is likely glued on, so high temperatures could wear the glue down. The gem feels like a cheap plastic gem.

The aluminum mini is available in two different sizes: 3.5" and 4.5". This determines the length of the plug!

I ordered the 3.5". This plug has a pointed tip that allows for easy insertion. This tip then goes out, so the plug is shaped like a cone. The largest circumference you will insert is 4", which is a 1.25" diameter. After this fullest circumference, the plug slenders down to the neck. The neck is so thin, that I can't wrap my ruler around to measure it. The thin neck is attached to a flared base that has a gem glued to the bottom. The base is 4.5" in circumference, which is just shy of 1.5" in diameter.



The gem is a blueish, purple color and as far as I know, that is the only color. It feels like plastic, but I am not positive on the material. It seems securely glued inside the base. It does add a more feminine appeal to this toy.

This should be large enough to not be sucked inside; however, if you are use to larger girths, this might not be the case. Use extreme caution with this plug. You might end up with it sucked inside.



This size is a good "average" size for most butt plugs. I have it pictured above, next to the Sasha Grey Small Plug and the Banana shaped plug from the beginner anal kit.



The plug is small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. So, it can easily fit into a purse or suitcase for traveling.

I have mixed feeling about this plug, which is why I gave it three stars.

I first tried the plug with my partner. We were having vaginal sex and decided to do some DP. So, he tried to slip this plug in anally. He has issues with initially inserting. I wasn't lubricated enough, so he had to apply more lube in order to insert the plug. Once the tip was in, slowly the rest of the plug was able to be inserted. I did have a hard time with getting up to the fullest circumference, but with some patience, it was fully inserted. However, once my muscles relaxed around the plug, I noticed the length and the tip. The plug was too long for how pointy it is. The pointed tip felt like it was constantly poking me. If I pulled the plug out some, I couldn't feel the tip as bad. So, I came to the conclusion that this plug needed a shorter length for my comfort with the firm material and the pointed tip, at least for DP use.

I also tried to wear this plug while washing the dishes and other chores. This was more comfortable for myself. If I sat down though, it was not comfortable. As long as I remind standing or laying, the plug was comfortable.

I did not have any issues with the base. It's slightly larger than the fullest girth you will insert and with the neck, it should be safe. However, it's still not as big as it should be. You will want to use this toy with caution. Knowing your body and what girths are you limits will help you safely use this toy.

The toy is completely waterproof. Remember that lube and water will make aluminum more slippery. Watch this toy in the shower because it's small enough to get stuck in the drain.

Aluminum is non porous, so sharing is made possible with fluid bonded partners. You can wash this toy in a 10% bleach solution for the best cleaning. It is possible to put this toy in the dishwasher on the top rack or to boil it, but it should be noted that this might make the gem fall out. Unless this is what you are going for, I advise you not to put it in the dishwasher or to boil it. For quick cleanings toy wipes, toy cleaners, or washings with antibacterial soap and warm water will work just fine. Be sure to properly clean all your toys before and after every use! Aluminum is recommend to be dried off with a satin or fine cotton cloth prior to storage.

This plug is best to be stored in a Toy pouch. I have a small pouch from Lelo that works great. It came with my Luna Beads. (I store my Luna Beads in the box instead of the pouch.)

Aluminum is compatible with all types of lubricant. Enjoy it with the lube of your choice.

This is your basic packaging. It's minimal and decent for short term storage. It's presentable as a gift. There is a minimal amount of useful information on it. The lid pulls right off. The toy is placed inside foam that is covered in silk inside this black box that fits inside the lid.
