Proof Heavy Metal Still Rocks
The Aluminum Mini is a nice addition to the already wide range of butt plugs on the market. The weight of the aluminum material is a pleasant balance stainless steel and plastics and it holds onto lubricant very well. This isn't the plug to turn to if you'd like to have something inserted all afternoon, but it is an excellent choice for masturbation or fun with a partner.

Pros
Holds lubricant well, shape means very easy insertion, aluminum is neither too heavy nor too light.
Cons
Difficult removal, poor design for long-term use, point at tip makes double penetration a challenge.
When it comes to weight, California Exotic’s Aluminum Mini occupies a nice middle ground between the noticeable heft of [|stainless steel toys] and the “is it in yet?” of plastic toys. It’s not heavy enough to have a real sense of presence after it’s been inserted, but it does have enough weight to apply pressure to all the right spots.
Insertion is very smooth and easy. Because it’s made from aluminum, the Aluminum Mini is compatible with all lubricants. My lubricant of choice happens to be a water-based gel lubricant and it clung to the plug like glue. If you look closely, you’ll see very, very small ridges along the side of the Aluminum Mini. You can’t feel them, but these ridges seem to be more effective at holding lubricant than most other non-porous toys.
Once inside, the Aluminum Plug felt very comfortable. I couldn’t identify any specific pressure points – it would be impossible for me to say “Oh! It’s hitting this spot!” – but it did make everything else I was doing just that much better. I used it in tandem with a glass dildo and my Hitachi Magic Wand. The combination produced a pretty awesome orgasm within a matter of minutes.
Because the Aluminum Butt Plug has a pronounced point at its tip, I found penetration with a dildo occasionally awkward while the butt plug was inserted. I would feel comfortable having this inserted with a male partner only if that partner wasn’t very well endowed. The pointed edge definitely comes through and that might be satisfying for him, but not as pleasant for me. For butt plugs that are better for couples, I’d recommend Njoy’s steel butt plugs or the California Exotic’s silicone love pacifiers.
There shouldn’t be any problem for men to have this inserted while having sex although the absence of a curve might mean that the prostate stimulation isn’t there to the degree that some would prefer.
The gem base sits up right against your anus. Visually, I found this surprisingly attractive. The down side of such a close seal, however, is that it takes some finagling to actually remove the Aluminum Mini. It’s a tight fit and might take a few tries to grab onto it firmly enough to remove it.
The base’s size is small enough for me to not recommend the Aluminum butt plug for long-term wear. It’s not the best choice to wear while doing the dishes or exercising (or whatever else you can think of). There’s enough potential to have it slip inside so be cautious. By all means, try it if you’d like. If you do, though, think about tying a piece of twine or something similar to the end as an extra safety precaution until you figure out how your body responds.
The Aluminum Mini is non-porous and hypoallergenic. It can be boiled, bleached, thrown in the dishwasher, or cleaned with that old standby – soap and warm water.

Nice review!
If you're concerned the Aluminum Mini is too wide... I just checked (because doesn't everyone have a metal butt plug lying around their desk?) and the width is smaller than two of my fingers. I think one common way for people to get in the mood for anal sex is for their partners to stimulate and relax their anal muscles by inserting one finger and then two. If you're cool with that, the Aluminum Mini won't be too wide for you.
If you're concerned that the Aluminum Mini is too small... Remind yourself that there is a pretty steep hollow that the sphincter muscles will wrap themselves around. Imagine rolling a ball into a U-shaped valley. It's really easy to get the ball down the hill because that's just how gravity works. It's really hard to get the ball up the other side, though, because you have to apply some force. This butt plug works the same way.
It's easy to get the Aluminum Mini in because most of the toy is shaped like a bullet. It just slides into place without a lot of effort (or lubricant). Then it stops. Your butt muscles close up as soon as they can and the jeweled button stays outside.
This isn't an all day thing because God only knows how easy it is to relax, then *swoop* and in you go. If this is only going to be in for half an hour or so, though, then I personally have no reservations.
Each body is different. People know how their butt muscles work. Think about that and play accordingly.
I know I used to be really unsure about the idea of hard toys but, since using a glass dildo, I've really warmed up. It does look like the tip is rather pointy. Is it?
On the positive side, the pointy tip makes penetration remarkably easy. A dab of lubricant and in it goes. I'd say that the penetration with this butt plug is actually easier that the Njoy pure plug line and the silicone/plastic plugs I've tried.
The negative aspect of the pointy tip comes into play when you want to do more than simply insert the plug and get off with clitoral stimulation. If you have the plug inserted and try to combine that with any sort of vaginal penetration, you will most definitely feel that tip. For the review I used a glass dildo and found that the plug's tip rubbed against the dildo firmly enough to be uncomfortable. I've since used the butt plug with a smaller, softer dildo made out of jelly. That wasn't nearly as uncomfortable, but I definitely felt the tip.
As with most things, it all comes down to what you're into.
