Severin - It's Quite the Plug
The Severin represents an excellent butt plug for anal training. It is made of 100% silicone so you know it's safe. It starts out with a narrow tip and then offers progressively larger bulbs with space in between that allow you to work it in at your own pace. If the base were not quite so wide I think it would be perfect.Published: October 18, 2007
Pros:
Size; Narrow tip; Two staging areas to allow you to work it in at your own pace
Cons:
Base is a little too big to rest comfortably between the cheeks for long term wear
The Severin is a great butt plug made by Tantus. Tantus is a company that exclusively uses high quality silicone in all of the toys that they produce, and the Severin is no exception. Since it is silicone, this means that it is non-porous so it won't harbor bacteria, clean up is a breeze, and you can even sterilize it by boiling or with a 10% bleach solution. Tantus has a pretty extensive line of butt plugs of varying shapes and sizes that should be able to please just about any taste.
My personal taste favors several attributes of the Severin plug. I love the narrow tip and the two staging areas that allow you to take your time working it in. The Severin offered at EdenFantasys is the smallest of the three versions it comes in, which makes it an excellent choice for a beginner, but with an inch and half diameter at the larger bulge, it is fun for those with more experience as well. If you want larger ones of the Severin design, you may have to look elsewhere, but the gradual increase in size inherent to the Severin has the added benefit of preparing you for other anal plugs like the Tulip plug, the Ace plug royal, or the Infinity plug royal.
The Severin serves its purpose as a plug pretty handily and can be worn relatively comfortably for long periods of time. I say relatively comfortably because it may just be me, but it only took a couple of hours before the base started to cause irritation. The problem seems to be in the overall size of the base. Although the base definitely keeps the plug from going in too far, it prevents my ass cheeks from resting comfortably when I am walking and what not. I went ahead and thinned the sides of the base with a sharp knife and found it to be more comfortable after that simple fix. I haven't tried to ride my bicycle with it in or anything like that, but it isn't bad for just sitting and/or some light walking. It seems that this base design is used throughout most of the Tantus plug line, so I will plan on making a similar alteration to any of their butt plugs that I purchase.
Finally, the base of this plug also makes it compatible to a dildo harness, and although there is not a lot of length to it, my wife has used it in this way on me and I found it to be a pleasant experience, that would be enhanced if the shaft were longer, but I think that would hamper its success as a plug. Overall, I would give the Severin 4 stars out of 5, with the size of the base keeping it from a perfect score.

Follow-up commentary

The Severin does not get as much use as some of my other plugs, but I am definitely glad it is in my arsenal. I think my biggest problem with it is even after altering the base, it still is not as comfortable for long term wear as I would like. It might be the jagged edges created from cutting the silicone. I wish I had a way that I could reliably melt and reshape the base without damaging the rest of the toy. Alas, since I know of no way to do this, I am stuck with this imperfect solution. I have not ventured into getting larger sizes of the Severin yet either, but eventually the "size queen" part of my psyche may overcome me and I will make that purchase. The Severin continues to be a very fun plug with some slight imperfections. Definitely worth a consideration if you need a nice "warm up" anal toy.

I have found the meduim plug to be very satifying as well. I initially purchased the meduim and large from amazon in two seperate purchases. The large one came first. The was no way I could imagine getting that one past the first ripple. I sent it back to amazon. The medium was possible to get it to seat into place with some work and lube. Oh when this beautiful plug seated I could feel the fullness of the last ripple. This is my first plug but my 5th product from Tantus. The base seemed to cause irritation after about an hour of wear. I slept with this in place but constantly had to shift my cheeks aound the base. I also trimmed the edges of the base. This helped a bit. I can walk around the house and drive with this in place. It is wonderful to feel this expanding my butt. It does not reach my P-spot however. It is has a great sensation when I insert the smaller ridge at a moderate rate as I cum. Wow this gets me off so well. I think it is worth a try. This can be a lovely addition to a box of toys.
Mark, thanks for the comments on the medium sized plug. I was thinking that would be a cool one to try out. Tantus makes some excellent toys.
Hey guys this is just a thought, but I used to be a hockey player and skated barefoot. This would cause irritation with new skates. I would put mole skin in the problem areas and It was good to go, no more irritation. So, I would think that you could put mole skin on the base and it would be like silk between your cheeks. Also, thanks for the review. I think im going to buy this!!!
Mole skin on the base, that might work pretty well. Thanks for the idea.
Great review, I would have to agree with the comments and rating. The cool thing about the Severin line is that the large bulb on the small, is the size of the small bulb on the medium, and the large bulb on the medium is the size of the small bulb on the large. This makes the set great for training. The medium size is one of my favorites.
Thanks for the comment FlySaab and that is a great observation about the sizing. I still haven't picked up the larger sizes, but your reminder has awakened that desire in me.
Nice review!
Thank you very much, Mega.
Great review.
The base didn't bother me, but every body is different and if you ask ten people, you'll get ten different responses.
Thank you, IndependentlyHappy. Some may find the base perfectly acceptable, but there are other bases that I like much better. The Ryder is a good example and the base of the Bootie is excellent.
Now deciding between this plug and Ryder...hmm..hard decision
That is a tough one, mikebooks. I think the harder decision, for me personally, would be between the Ryder and the Severin Medium. If I wanted it for long term wear, however, Ryder is the way to go, in my opinion. I think the curves of the Severin make it pretty awesome.
thanks for the review!
You are welcome, soker1.
Your comments about the base were helpful- nice review!
Great review!
Thank you for the compliments, sasweetheart89 and evecat. I'm glad I could be of service, sasweetheart89.
