Intima silk blindfold by LELO - review by Sir

LELO's Intima Silk Blindfold was made to be used for sensory deprivation, or removal of the senses. When one sense, in this case sight, is removed, the others are heightened, and arousal is taken to a whole new level of teasing and exciting games. The blindfold is not made for people who need to completely take away their partner's sight, as it can be looked under to see out of—it's made for people who want a luxury, silk blindfold that will give them the look and feel of having their sense of sight taken away, with the ability to still play safely.

People who are heavily into the BDSM scene will appreciate the blindfold, but not particularly like it (especially if their submissive is the type to pick fun at them and look through the bottom of the blindfold). Though it's beautiful, it's not the best for actual use as a sensory deprivation blindfold.

With an arched nose piece, and long flowing ties in the back, the design of LELO's Intima Silk Blindfold is just beautiful. The stitching is artfully executed, and it's easy to tell that LELO was paying close attention to the execution of their presentation of this piece. In the back is a little part that has an elastic inside, allowing the blindfold to be stretched over a person's head for somewhat easier fitting.

The blindfold is made of the most exquisite silk that's soft, moves easily over the skin, and is just luxurious. On the inside, the blindfold is lined with an intricately patterned silk, and the outside is the plain hue of choice. Mine was the red, and boy, is this blindfold red! It's like a mixture of scarlet and ruby red. Just beautiful.

Though the silk is a comfortable material to use, the actual fit of the blindfold is so-so. When worn, the elastic first needs to be stretched before putting it on a partner's head, as the blindfold is cut small and the material does not stretch (other than for the elastic area). When it's too tight, it tends to become uncomfortable. If it's not, then it's just right and it can be worn all night (day?) long.

Its measurements are 19" around, and only 21 1/2" when stretched. The ties are somewhat pointless when thinking of the addition of the elastic, but they make the blindfold look exceptionally attractive when tied into a pretty bow.

LELO's Intima Silk Blindfold is beautiful, simple as that. But sadly, the blindfold does not actually work when put to the test. An ideal blindfold is one that cannot be looked under, cannot be seen through, and completely blocks a person's sight. LELO'S blindfold, however, does not do this. Its material is excellent, and it's fairly comfortable (if it fits), but it just simply does not work as a blindfold.

Maybe this one is better used as something to go to sleep in or for photo shoots. It really breaks my heart to say that, but it is sadly true.

Silk is a very finicky material, so it's best to take extra care when using it by not wearing makeup and not getting lubricants or bodily fluids on it. The only way that stains can be removed from silk is by either taking it to the dry cleaners or treating it with a special soap or solution that is mild and will not harm or stain the material further. Silk is very high maintenance, and LELO's Intima Silk Blindfold thankfully comes with a little box that's great for storage.

I recommend storing the blindfold in its original box or in a plastic baggie, then away in a drawer or on a shelf.

The blindfold comes in a thin cardboard box with an elegant and very tasteful dark design of the blindfold against a black background. On the back, LELO writes that their blindfold is 100% silk and to only dry clean. There are also a few sentences, in a couple different languages, about their product.

Inside is another box, made of a thicker, heavier, and much more firm cardboard material. It is a black weave which says "LELO" in the middle. This is what I recommend keeping for storage, as it's extremely discreet and no one would know any better what you have lurking in your closet.

Though I love the blindfold's look, it just was not ideal as a blindfold. Such a shame.
