Rainbow Ride
Don Wands Rainbow Mega Nubby is a colorful, bumpy, rainbow ride! It's sleek, the glass is smooth and the raised nubs add for extra stimulation and texture. It's great for beginners interested in different textures as well as experienced users.Published: January 30, 2012
Pros:
glass, nubbed, comes with padded storage bag
Cons:
None for me
Use
The Rainbow Mega Nubby glass wand by Don Wands is yet another beautifully crafted glass dildo by the company. Rainbow Mega Nubby is great for alone time or when used with a partner. The slightly raised nubs add for a bumpy feeling of pleasure that is a smooth ride. It's pretty to look at and non-intimidating so this would be okay for the beginners experimenting with glass texture and the advanced can appreciate it's quality and ability as well. Because of the appearance I wouldn't say it is discreet looking.
Material/Texture
Rainbow Mega Nubby is hypoallergenic and made from borosilicate glass which is used in the medical and science fields, basically saying, this glass wand is 100% body safe. The glass will not degrade and will last a lifetime due to their great durability. Glass is great for temperature play. Don Wands suggest placing the wand in cold or very warm water for a few minuets before use to heat things up or cool them down. Rainbow Mega Nubby is colorful with a patter of Red, green, orange and blue as well as clear stripes. Little raised nubs are spread out all over the wand to give it a bumpy texture and feel when being inserted into the vagina. The glass is smooth and glides easily over the body and into the vagina.
Design/Shape/Size
Rainbow Mega Nubby is slim and rounded on the ends so you can use either end of it. The measurements are: Length: 7 1/4"
Circumference: 3 1/2"
Diameter: 1 1/8"
Not a lot of girth and once you get it in your hand it is a comfortable length to use. The nubs are rounded and slightly raised but not enough to hurt, just enough to feel.
Performance
I chose this wand because I was intrigued by the Icicles no. 24 but wanted to see if a lot of raised textures would bother me before I made such an expensive purchase. I don't like a lot of girth and try to keep things under 4 3/4 circumference. This toy was perfect in size for me and not intimidating at all. The size and length were comfortable for my body and for me to hold while using. The nubs feel great when the wand is thinly coated with lubricant and ran over the clitoris and lips of the vagina. Internally the bumps can be felt and give a bumpy feeling when thrusting. I experimented with a jelly toy with nubs more pronounced than these ones and it was painful. The Rainbow Mega Nubby wasn't painful to use. You can experience the texture by thrusting it in and out or by turning it around while inside. Because it is glass you want to be sure not to get carried away and bump and bruise your vagina internally. This wand had the right amount of texture and anything more would probably not be pleasurable to me right now so I have decided after using this to take the Icicles no. 24 off my list for the time being. I liked this toy for texture but it isn't one that I will reach for every time but I'm happy to have it in my collection.
Care and Maintenance
Glass toys are easy to care for. For cleanup all you really need is mild soap and water but you can also use a toy cleaner. Store it in a place where it won't get banged around especially if storing with other glass toys. The great thing about Don Wands is that they provide you with a padded drawstring bag to keep your wand in so storage shouldn't be a problem with their toys, it comes with it! And because glass is so user friendly you can choose any lubricant you want to use with it.
Packaging
Rainbow Mega Nubby comes in a plastic case with the drawstring bag and a sample pack of WET lubricant as well as an insert telling you a little about the toy and how to use and care for it. The packaging isn't discreet at all due to being see-through.
Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
I like this toy, as a lover of different textures I found this to be pleasant and well textured without being so pronounced to the point it was uncomfortable. This is a great choice for someone that knows they like texture but if you are new to texture, I would go with something that only has nubs on one side of the wand or a toy that doesn't have so much of the texture as it may be too much for a beginner. Don Wands also gives awesome padded bags along with their products which is very useful for storage and the bag was well padded to protect the wand from bumping against other toys and the possibility of chipping from that. This is a very pretty wand and I'm happy with the choice to get it.

Do the nubs make it more pleasurable?
-
They seem like they would hurt, especially on such an unforgiving material.

For questions like these, read the reviews. See what people who have actually used the product have to say. That'll answer your question.

Can someone give me advice on which glass dildos work the best?
-
Quote: Can someone give me advice on which glass dildos work the best?I think it depends on your preferences. Do you like slim, or thick? Texture, or smooth? If you like texture, which kinds do you like?
-
Glass dildos are great! They all get really slick with lube, can be warmed (or cooled) in water, and are totally easy to clean. Texture wise there are all sorts of options, like the nubby you pointed out, or ridged, or smooth varieties. What works best depends probably more on your personal preferences than any one design factor.
I would say that if you like softer and more bendable materials generally you may find glass to be somewhat of a letdown, but if you like firm pressure glass is definitely where it's at.
We have a couple of glass toys (a plug and a few dildos) and really like all of them, not too mention they tend to be a little more fun to look at. Personally we like a mix of glass and silicone toys, because they each have things they are better at, but if you are curious about trying a glass toy out for the first time, definitely go for it. You will probably like it.

Painful

Do glass toys "hurt" or feel too hard as opposed to rubber/jelly toys? I really like this and want to order one!
-
I haven't tried that specific glass toy, but I have tried glass toys with "nubs" on them. Honestly, they didn't hurt me in the least -- but, the jelly ones do. I don't understand it.
I LOVE glass though. -
Maybe if you move around and find it's too big, but in themselves, they wouldn't generally hurt (in my exp) :)

Glass Toys

So I don't know much on the topic, but putting anything made of glass inside my body sounds a little scary. Do glass toys ever break?
-
Not usually, most glass toys are made of a solid piece of Borosilicate glass like pyrex. They shouldn't break unless you drop them and even then they may not break the first time they fall.
You should check them for chips before using them, just in case. -
Glass is one of the safest materials you can get, next to stainless steel and silicone. You can boil it and even throw some into the dishwasher! They'll break if you drop them real hard or throw them (especially the cheaper ones), or if you put it in the oven and then in a bowl of cold water, but not inside you!

Thank you for viewing Rainbow mega nubby – glass dildo review page!

Great Review Thanks
Great review! Thanks for pics!
Thanks for the review on this. I love the colors and design on this and many other glass toys. I'm just really disappointed that more of these don't have more girth to them overall. There are at least 10 glass dildos I would love to buy, but all way to thin to do me any good. I'm glad you enjoyed this one Thanks again.
Thanks for the review! It's such a fun funky toy!
Great review!
Awesome review and lovely pics! Thanks for all the useful info. I've had this baby on my wishlist for a while now. I love the colors and subtle bumps. Most of my glass pieces have very pronounced bumps, lumps and swirls so one with subtle ones would be a nice change! Thanks for the wonderful review!
Great review
Thanks for the review and pics. I hadn't paid much attention to this, thinking that the nubs would be too much. But perhaps they would be nice. I like the girth of this too.
So the jelly with bumps was more painful than the glass with smaller bumps? Seems counter-intuitive, but good to know, so thanks for the comparison. Thanks for the great review.
@Jimbo Jones, yeah it's weird that it turned out to be that way. This one has less pronounced numbs by just a bit and the glass didn't have any drag like the TPR did. This one was less big around as well so that probably had something to do with it. Or I'm just weird lol!
Thanks for the review! This looks cute
