Decent first toy

The Butterfly Kiss is a nearly flawless shape and design seemingly just constructed with mediocre materials. Battery life is poor, one of my settings died on me, and of course, jelly materials leave much to be desired. It feels great, but I would rather have a rabbit-style toy that I don't need to cover to feel I am using safely. Material has a slight odor. If they made an upgraded version, I'd get it in a second!

Pros:
Good clitoral stimulation, decent g-spot stimulation, inexpensive.
Cons:
Poor material, middle (of 3) setting stopped working, battery life is poor.

Use

The Butterfly Kiss is a typical rabbit-style vibrator, with a relatively small insertable portion. It has a rounded enlarged portion for g-spot stimulation, and a butterfly-shaped clitoral portion on the outside. This would be an OK first vibrator, though the material makes it less than ideal.

Material / Texture

I don't have much good to say about the material. Although it feels OK, jelly materials clearly are not very sanitary, and even can be unsafe. It is a pain to have to worry about covering toys to know you are using them safely. This does have an odor, and using it without a cover actually does kind of transfer the odor to my body, which is not a good sign for the safety and quality of material. You can kind of feel the rough texture when washing it when compared to something like silicone or hard plastic.

No real complaints on how the material feels during use though. For a product like this that you will probably only be doing minimal in and out motion with, you don't really need a lot of rigidity.

I haven't used this with lube. I don't find it necessary, but I would go for water-based.
    • Light odor
    • Somewhat porous

Design / Shape / Size

The size is definitely beginner friendly! The insertable part is pretty small - it ends around the g-spot, as intended. It's not going to do much for you if you also want a "full" feeling inside.

Not to say that it is too small. I have had some really great Os with this toy, as it was the only one I had for quite some time due to my budget constraints. It feels great, the butterfly shape is awesome and allows for some variation on the feel of the vibrations as you move it around to different parts (the antenna, wings, head).

This toy could probably be used for travel since it is not too big. It's loud enough that you wouldn't want to use it in a silent apartment while your roommate is studying, but definitely quiet enough to use it discreetly in the shower or with some (louder) music playing.

I don't really care for how it looks. I am not a big fan of cutesy designs on toys like the butterfly, but how it looks is pretty minor when compared to how it feels.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations go throughout the external and internal portions, but the internal area doesn't get them as strong. I've used this alone and with my boyfriend and it's great both ways. I have also used it in the shower, and...it hasn't stopped working (completely) yet, so I guess it is pretty waterproof.

This thing seems to go through batteries really fast for me. It seems like the longer I have it, the faster it goes through them. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that it is really, really disappointing when it starts going slower and slower just when you need it to hold its weight until it eventually stops and you're left frustrated. Not great.

It also only has 3 settings, which are easy to click through. No pulsations or anything, and after a few months, my middle setting stopped working. The first setting is too weak for me, so I basically just have one setting on it now. The third setting has a good amount of power, but I do miss having the choice!
    • Battery guzzler
    • Easy to use
    • Multiple settings

Care and Maintenance

Hm. I would say this toy is difficult to clean, because porous materials really never get fully clean. I wash with soap and water. I have not used lube, I don't find it necessary for a toy like this as it is small and I don't move it around too much.
    • Hard to clean

Packaging

Typical and pretty unimpressive packaging. Nothing you'd keep. I can't remember if there were instructions, but it is pretty straightforward. End twists off, batteries go in, push buttons to change settings.

Experience

Many good times. Many great orgasms. Also many nights of disappointment when this was my only vibrator and it would start to die out in the middle of use - but no vibrator is perfect. Maybe I just had some bad batteries.

I have tried new batteries with no luck. Unfortunately, I think it's broken for good.

    • Anyone know why the blue is more expensive than the pink? They're the same, right? So why is one more expensive?

  • i have experiment attraction to women,,, i´m bicurious?
    • hi my name is yesenia paris,, and i´m 22 but since i was in high school i kind of have curiosity for girls,, i never like really kiss a girl or anything or i never had any female friend to experiment that, like i am very shy person and also like a lonely girl,, althought i am a very pleasant person and i good human being ,, noone seens to like me,,, but although of that matter i still feel the curiosity may because i have never been with a girl before
does that make a bisexual,a bicurious,of it just because the loneliness or the lock of friends,, like i never have a real
girl friend ,, like it´s samething that happens with boys,, you are not friends with them ,, but you like them in a different way,,, i always thing it´s because my loneliness
and the need of an another ,, girl being friends with me i also don´t have a mom to call and talk about my problems maybe it´s because of that the confusion thanks have a nice day
    • Someone made a similar post a while back, and I'll basically tell you what we told her. Don't follow stereotypes. Don't label yourself. If you are interested in girls, then you just are. If you haven't experimented with girls, personally I feel that when I liked someone it isn't based on any particular factor, it is based on the person themselves. I tell people I am bisexual, but really I think of myself as pansexual, not limiting emotion and attraction to anything. Not gender, not age, not race, not social status.

I think that sometimes people can become lonely and will "settle", making them open their views and ideas of dating up, to allow "just anyone" to enter into their lives. My boyfriend was this way, before meeting me, dating anyone who would say yes because he had no friends, and had been hurt and heartbroken so badly he just wanted to feel loved and accepted. I also have a straight friend who dated women just so she could have someone to date, but she wasn't attracted to them, although she liked to experiment and have fun, she says she is straight, but I don't give her a label.

If you ever need a friend to talk to, I am a good listener :)
    • Excellent advice Peggi and I second that. We don't need labels...we're just people. I'm a good listener too.

  • What's up with different Butterfly Kisses?
    • When I bought my Butterfly Kiss I thought there were only 2 versions - the standard and the Platinum Edition. Since I couldn't find the PE in my country I went with the regular one. I was so bent on getting it after watching Kara Sutra's review of it. She said it was TPR. I got my Butterfly Kiss. On the packaging (plastic shell with a piece of paper) it said that it's "phthalate-free" and made of TPR. I'm inclined to believe it as it didn't smell, didn't turn ugly yellow even when I had it for more than a year, didn't sting my bits (jelly does).

Now, however I see those jelly Butterfly Kisses. What's the deal? Was my vibe mis-labeled or are there more than 2 versions? I still have the paper insert from the packaging if you'd like to see it. The vibe itself looks a bit more opaque than what I see in EF catalog - it's always looked like this.

I would also ask people from EF who deal with the Review Program. Is my Butterfly Kiss same as yours (and thus qualifies for a review) or is it a different product?
    • Hi there!! California Exotic Novelties was the 1st to come out with this fantastic design. & yes we only have 2 versions, the platinum & the original. Check it out on our website link

Many other companies have tried to duplicate our product but have had no success. We are the original creators with the best product :) Hope this helps!

It's the jelly - throw it away or always use a condom. Look for better materials like silicone or VixSkin.
    • I wouldn't even use a condom...just get rid of it and stay away from the material.

  • Jelly Deformation?
    • Well I loved this little bugger and it came at a bargain so I suppose I can't complain too much. But I whipped it out for play tonight only to find that the jelly seems to have dented and deformed itself on the lovely bulbous head. I had it in a pocket next to my turbo glider and I suspect with some heat and pressure, that's the culprit that did this. It has very odd dents/suctionish things on it now.

Is this prone to happen to jelly toys? Could it have been the California summer heat? I would like to prevent this from happening in the future.

But in case people are wondering, this a toy I would glady invest in again.
    • It is my experience that jelly toys just deteriorate really fast...the heat may have sped up this process though. I do know heat can cause more phthalates to leak out of jelly. It probably just kind of melted on you a little. I would have to say you should go ahead and get a new one or better yet, find a comparible toy in silicone! Silicone can be boiled so, heat shouldn't be an issue with it at all! It always sucks when one of your favorites melts.
    • Does your house get pretty warm? I've never had that problem and I live in AZ. Was it touching the turbo glider? Sounds like a toy material interaction to me.
