Carrie's Story - erotic book by Cleis Press Inc. - review by KinkyShay

This is one of my favorite BDSM fictional books. I read this when I was just dipping my toe into the pool of kink and still adore it two years later. The story and the descriptions of how being objectified, tortured, humiliated, and used really hit me hard. It wasn't a gentle transition into D/s and BDSM. It jolted me, but in a manner that left me inquisitive, erotically charged and salivating to read more books like this.

The main character, Carrie, is a twenty-something, educated grad student who is inquisitive, sexually curious and adventurous, and decides to experience life in this subculture completely and utterly, with wild abandon. Carrie is not a doormat type individual. She's sassy, strong-willed, and quite objective in looking at her own choices. The reader will feel that Carrie is not being taken advantage of in the least. She always has full control.

In Carries journey she learns discipline through verbal humiliation, physical punishment, and physical humiliation. She spends time at a stable, training as a pony in preparation for her master to auction her off at a slave auction. At the auction there is much objectification, humiliation, and sex where she is merely a receptacle for others. If you're looking for a sappy love story this isn't it. This book isn't for everyone. It's raw and edgy and might make you squirm a bit. You might find yourself a bit taken aback at what Carrie obviously consents to doing. At the very core of it, you'll see that everything Carrie does, everything she is trained to do and groomed for, it all has to do with her being turned into the perfect whore.

However, if you are curious about this lifestyle, if you fancy yourself a voyeur, if you fantasize about sexual play involving a power dynamic, you might fall in love with this book as I did.

This book will always be part of my book collection. It has staying power! Since buying Carrie's Story over eighteen months ago, I've read it at least three more times and it always holds my attention. It's always uncomfortable at parts, makes me squirm and re-evaluate how I feel about erotic humiliation, but I always enjoy the process. Carrie's personality always makes me smile.
