Carrie's Amazing Story

Carrie's Story by Molly Weatherfield is a lovely novel about one woman's journey to self discovery through service. It is a rich BDSM novel that shows the author's commitment to safe, sane and concensual play. An amazing read I recommend this to anyone who is interested in exploring BDSM.

extremely useful review
I was so excited to hear that the Naked Reader's would be reading and reviewing Carrie's Story by Molly Weatherfield because I was dying to read the book but afraid it might cause a bit of tension in my home. Turns out I shouldn't have been so worried, Sigel was fine with it.

This story chronicles one woman's experiences as she moves from just being interested in bondage and discipline to ultimately being sold at a slave auction. It is simply and beautifully told, in a genuinely gentle and humor filled style. The author is careful to point out all the covenants that should mark all ethical Master/slave relationship. This was so important for me as Sigel will wander over and read over my shoulder or pick up a book I am reading just because he is curious.

The book begins with a lovely and personable foreword from the author. She leads the reader step by step into her decision to write this book and the evolution is actually very interesting! I have to wholeheartedly agree with Darlene Pagano, people DO still want to read Carrie's Story.

The story begins with Carrie's Master, Johnathan announcing that he wants to sell her at auction! She is shocked, dismayed, hurt and yet terribly excited at the prospect. She leads us through a 'dressage' show from the perspective of a brand new slave before taking us back into the past and telling us how she actually got started in this lifestyle.
From the chance meeting at a party where Jonathan notices Carrie and how turned on she is by a cheesy BDSM movie to the day she is whisked away by her 'certified owner' we are on a whirlwind ride through the training of a pleasure slave in the fashion of Pauline Reage's Story of O.
We follow Carrie through her rigorous but inexpert training to a pony farm where she learns some of the finer art of service. She is punished harshly and used as though she is an animal, all while being taught to submit gracefully and willingly. She begins to learn more about herself the farther and farther she peels the onion of her psyche during the period of training leading up to her taking the stage for the auction.
The auction is terribly civilized and the slaves are all paid for their service, afterall slavery IS still illegal. Carrie is whisked away after she passes her entrance exam, as it were, and she notes that Johnathan seems slightly lost. At the end of the auction process she is given a note from him, in which he admits he sent her away because he might have been falling in love with her. She is angry at first but soon realizes that what his best friend had said about him was undeniably true, he was an amateur and she deserved better.
By the end of the book Carrie is thoughtful, excited and ready to start a new chapter in her life. Her growth as a person and as a slave is beautiful to see and made reading this book quite a treat.

Unlike Anne Rice's Beauty Series this book isn't threatening though it is just as graphic. It is a more thoughtful look at a slave's emergence into self mastery and, to my mind, offers much more depth and story telling. This is a story you could imagine actually happening and that makes it much more exciting to read.

This edition of the book's cover art is not safe for work as it pictures the lovely backside of a woman who is obviously bound to the bed. Her backside is nude and she is waiting for her Master/Mistress.
Follow-up commentary
I recently re-read this book in preparation for reading the sequel. I realized that I had missed or glossed over some areas of the book the first go round meaning the book meets the one criteria I have for a good book: it has re-read potential!

I loved this book... To me, the cover doesn't look like a bed, but rather a shed? Or a stable? Either way, it is a great book!
  • Contributor: Airen Wolf
You know you are right! It is the stable isn't it? Thanks for pointing that out.

I don't think that I could ever be a submissive. Not sure I'd make a good dominant either. I just have too many issues about being forced or forcing others. However, you do make this book sound fascinating. Thanks for the review.

That's a common misconception about D/s, that it's about force. Rarely is force needed in a loving or even professional relationship. The Dom/me will ask for a behavior and the submissive either submits to the request or accepts a punishment based on agreed upon limits. It's about powerplay and give and take between both the Dom/me and the sub. If you need to force someone to do what you are asking then it's not safe, sane or ethical D/s play...it's abuse. Still what looks like force to one person looks like agressive play to another it's all in how you play.
