Viva la Vulva!

...If I had seen “She Comes First” in the book store, I would have smiled at the title and cheeky use of suggestive fruit on the cover, approved of its place in the world (hey, anything that benefits a woman's right to “come” automatically gets a thumbs up from me!) but would have looked right over it and never given it a second thought. I'm a heterosexual female after all. What possible use could I have for a book intended for teaching men how to give women better head...?

extremely useful review
Before I begin, I would like to mention that I didn't pick this book out. It was given to me along with a few other books and videos based on sexuality that their previous owner no longer wanted.

And I've got to be honest here. If I had seen “She Comes First” in the book store, I would have smiled at the title and cheeky use of suggestive fruit on the cover, approved of its place in the world (hey, anything that benefits a woman's right to “come” automatically gets a thumbs up from me!), but I would have looked right over it and never given it a second thought. I'm a heterosexual female after all. What possible use could I have for a book intended for teaching men how to give women better head?

I would have had no clue what I was missing out on.

This book is an absolute gem. Not only did I find it an incredibly well written, enjoyable and informative read, but it has found a permanent place on my book shelf and has become an immediate recommendation of mine to any man looking to improve his understanding of a woman's body. (Or to any woman looking for a book to give to her man. ;) )

There are a lot of articles and so-called “how-to” pamphlets out there covering “expert” tips on how to perform cunnilingus, but the vast majority of them are not that great. Some also have the tendency to be a bit on the objectifying side, with unnecessary language and a kind of dirty humor interwoven throughout.

I knew I was in for a completely different type of read just after scanning the introduction of this book. Dr. Ian Kerner is very adept at getting across in the introduction the tone in which he meant his book to resonate at and it's a note I would like to echo in my review. This book isn't just about techniques, it's about women. It's not just about casual encounters, but also about lovers. It's about relationships and getting past certain stereotypes and stigmas that well meaning but inept individuals carry. It's about teaching men the ins and outs of not only a woman's body, but sexual psyche as well. And he does it in a way that ANYONE can understand.

I would love to quote the heck out of this book, but I'd probably wind up repeating more than half of it if I tried. It contains some of the best written information I've read just on female genitalia anatomy alone and there are plenty of women who would benefit from reading this book if only for that reason as even I didn't know some of the stuff he brought up!

“She Comes First” also briefly touches on just how much damage has been done to female sexuality, particularly throughout the past few centuries and brings to light some of the reasons why we still are having issues today. From an intellectual stand-point, I found this very quick trip through history quite fascinating and worth mentioning. Most people don't realize just how deep the roots of sexual dysfunction go. Just because you may not be familiar with history's take on sex, doesn't mean that it hasn't affected your sex life personally. We are products of our environment, after all. And our current environment has been born from what has come before. Understanding this history can go a long way towards repairing any current predicaments we may find ourselves in.

All of the above is just some of what is touched upon in Part One. As far as Part Two is concerned… well, it's ALL about the techniques! Techniques which have been expertly written and are the heart and soul of this book. And if you guys want to know about that, then you'll need to buy it.

But I promise you, any man who takes Part Two to heart is going to make his lover one VERY satisfied woman.
Experience
In a nut-shell, “She Comes First” is a tightly written, factual, informative, explicit yet tasteful go-to guide for men on fulfilling the sexual needs of someone you care for. It quotes many of the great experts in the field, yet doesn't read like some clinical, cold examination of the female anatomy. It is a humorous, entertaining book that both men and women will enjoy and learn from. And learn you will. Most men don't know where to turn to for this kind of information, so they wind up resorting to what they see in porn films or hear from other men no more capable or knowledgeable than themselves. Neither of which will get them very far with their lovers.

Well, listen up guys. This book is a treasure trove of accurate information which makes it a must have for any man, regardless of relationship status. Is it the only book you will ever need to get? Not necessarily. That depends on how far you wish to carry your education. But it's surely one heck of a way to start!

P.S. For those who are interested, be sure to keep in mind that this book has a companion, entitled “He Comes Next”.
