Where Water Runs Dry, Give Before & After a Try!

Before & After is a fresh-smelling, easy-to-apply, antibacterial spray cleaner that will effectively clean most toys, prior to, and after playtime. It's also the perfect solution for those times when no other cleaning options are available!

Pros:
Pleasant scent, long-lasting, kills bacteria, removes residues, affordable, two sizes.
Cons:
Fragrance-sensitive users may find smell irritating.

extremely useful review
After reading many positive reviews on Before & After Adult Toy Cleaner by Classic Erotica, I decided to give this antibacterial spray toy cleaner a shot, better yet, a "spritz". I'm so glad I did! If like me, you are serious about caring for your toys and for your body, then having a bottle (or two) of Before & After Toy Cleaner by your bedside or in your goody bag is a convenient alternative to traditional cleansing methods; however, I wouldn't entirely omit a good hot water & antibacterial soap scrubbing when available.

This cleaner is intended to be used on new toys to help mask that "new toy smell" and subsequently, before and after every use. It's as easy as spraying the toy thoroughly, wiping it off with a clean towel, and letting it dry. I used this on one of my silicone toys and didn't experience any lint transfer with either a fabric or a clean paper towel.

The simple formula only contains 5 ingredients:
1) Water
2) Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, also known as "Coconut Acid", generally used as a cleaning agent.
3) Benzyl Alcohol as a disinfectant.
4) Disodium EDTA helps to remove residues.
5) Fragrance

It has a pleasant, light floral scent, which smelled a little "soapy" to me, but note that this product is soap-free! There are no color additives or other harsh ingredients that could be detrimental to your health or damaging to your toys. As an added bonus, it is not tested on animals. As with any cleaning agent, be sure to keep it away from the eyes, face, and obviously, small children!

Before & After is available in two sizes, 8 ounces and 4 ounces. Either should last a long time, as you don't need to apply much & the smaller purse size is very convenient for travel. The pump is just a simple, one-touch spray pump, which is actually a good thing, because if it should break, the cleaner can easily be transferred to another similar spray bottle. Just remember to label it clearly so you don't mistake it for your favorite body spray!

With the exception of a heavily-embellished toy such as this example, which has many grooves and crevices where dried fluids and bacteria can accumulate, Before & After will effectively clean the majority of smooth-surfaced toys of any material. However, it wouldn't hurt to occasionally sterilize those that can be safely boiled in hot water or placed in top rack of the dishwasher (for example, silcone or glass). If you know you will be playing somewhere remote, for example on a camping trip, be sure to take along a bottle of Before & After!

Before & After Adult Toy Cleaner is the first product I have reviewed on here that is receiving a 5-star rating. It performed as expected and didn't ruin any of my toys or cause me to experience any irritations. In the future, I'd love to see a 16oz refill size, because I don't want to have to run out of this or keep wasting plastic.
Experience
I tested the cleaner on several toys of different materials and with different lubes. It removed all the residue from each of them. So long as it is applied immediately after use on a detailed toy (another example) before it allows to dry, it should remove most of the fresh fluids. I will be certain to purchase this cleaner regularly.
Follow-up commentary
This is one product I haven't been able to do without for the times I need a quick touch-up on my toys. I've gone through about half a bottle since my original review two months ago, and I do use it quite frequently, so I'm pleased that I'm getting my money's worth.

Haha, I love your comment about body spray. Great story on this... I had a body spray and a bottle of this next to each other, and I accidentally grabbed the toy cleaner. Rather awkward, since I was about to go out on a date.

Great review.

  • What does before & after do.. before you use it?
    • Is it both a lubricant and a sanitizer? how does that work?
    • It is not a lubricant but merely cleans the toys. When the toy is sitting around, it gathers fungal spores, dust, and bacteria.
    • Before you use it it sits there and looks pretty :P

In theory you're supposed to use it before you use your toys and then after you use your toys to ensure optimal cleanness. At least according to the bottle.

  • Before & After Toy Cleaner...
    • This one got lots of great reviews, but I've got a couple of questions for all you reviewers who use this. The description says you have to "spray, wipe, then rinse" but most of the reviews say no rinsing required. Can you guys confirm there's no residue if you don't rinse? One review mentioned it didn't clean the crevices of textured toys well. Anyone else have that experience? Would you say it replaces the soap & water routine completely?
    • Nah, it doesn't replace soap and water, in my opinion. It may be because I've used soap and water for so long, but I just don't see the benefit to spraying something and then wiping it off. I find the cleaner hard to wipe off on toys w/ texture, and maybe I'm nuts, but then I don't feel like a toy is really clean. It would do in a pinch, but I don't mind soap and water so that's what I go for 90% of the time.
    • I like the the idea of toy cleaner but I always wondered what exactly you wipe down with? What's a good cloth for that?
