Heavenly Touch
This massage candle smelled amazing! It will give you a ton of use, since a little goes a long way. It is very discreet and pretty. It leaves your skin feeling nice and soft and not greasy. It even comes with a brush and matches.Published: August 3, 2011
Pros:
Smells good, Looks nice, Softer skin, Makes massaging easier
Cons:
None
I really loved this candle. It is one of the best candles I have ever owned. When I bought it I was worried about the smell. I had never smelled anything called Black Current before, but I really like the way it smells. It is a flowery scent, not like the rose scent though. The glass jar it comes in is very elegant. You could easily use this for any occasion. I recommend it for a romantic night, so guys if you want to surprise your lady with a relaxing night with or without a massage, this would be great.
The oil that the candle becomes is amazing. A little of the oil can go a long way. In fact, I used too much when I used it for the first time. I only intended to use it on my husband’s back and ended up using it on his arms and neck too. The brush does help to not use too much when applying it. I do recommend only dabbing a small amount of oil to the brush at a time. The oil is not sticky; it’s very smooth and leaves your skin very soft. After I blew out the flame I tested the oil to make sure it wasn’t too hot, and to my surprise it felt nice. I was expecting it to very hot like a wax candle. The smell of the candle will fill the whole room and will leave your skin smelling like it too.
When I received my candle in the mail it came in a nice white Jimmyjane box. On the front of the box it has a picture of the candle itself and the name Afterglow. When you open it up there are three things in the box: the candle, a brush, and a small box of matches. I loved that it came with matches, no need to hunt down a lighter or matches if you don’t keep them around. Also included is small handbook.
The handbook provides you with quite a bit of useful information. It does have all of the info in several languages, so if it's easier for you to read in another language you can. The languages included are: English, French, Spanish, Dutch, and Hollands. Some of the information it gives are safety tips, ingredients, and how to use the candle. All of the safety tips it provides are common ones that you get with any candle, except one that I thought may be important to some people. This candle is for external use only and is not intended for use as a lubricant. I think that would be the only way they could improve this candle.
The only cleaning that is required for this product is for the brush. The handbook says that you can use warm water and shampoo to clean it. I just used some dish soap and water and then shook the brush out in the sink. I do recommend cleaning the brush before it dries, or else it may be harder to clean.
For people who may have allergic reactions, the ingredients are: Soybean oil, Shea butter, Palmarosa oil, Jojoba oil, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Hedione, Citronellol, Verdox Dioctyl, Adipate, Geraniol, Terpinyl Acetate, Hexyl Cinnamic Aldehyde, Triplal, Geraniol Acetate, Veloutone, Styrallyl Acetate, P-mentha-8-thiol-3-one, Phenyl Ethyl Isobutyrate, and Rose Oxide.

Experience
Overall, I was very satisfied with this candle. I found several ways to enjoy it. This is something I think I will be buying more of. I would love to fill my house with these candles, maybe not just this scent, but a few of the scents that these candles carry.

I still love this massage candle. I have used it lots of times and it isn't even half gone yet. It was totally worth the price.

Jimmy Jane Afterglow candles- Best Scent?
-
what's the best Jimmy Jane afterglow scent? or the better ones?
-
Well, first off, there are lots of threads on the scent of these candles already. But ignoring that, I think it's really up to your preference in smell.
In my experience, all the scents are fairly high quality, so it just depends on what you like. I personally favor the Dark Vanilla and Bourbon scents. My good friend prefers the Water Cucumber, while it is totally not for me. Some people love the Truffle Gardenia, but it's comparatively very floral. I would really like to try the Vetiver Honey in the ember series.
My recommendation would be to go with what is most similar to your usual favorite scent. Sweet edibles? Masculine spices? Flowers? Citrus? Or you could always try the sampler. More expensive but awesome :-) -

The special edition scents look tempting, but I would also like to make sure I purchase something both my partner and I would like. Also I kind of wanted to get a general sense of what is most widely liked. Which I feel I could have gotten with a poll, but unfortunately I am not sure how to do that. I did see a post explaining that to post a poll it the option is next to the post discussion option, but I have seen no such poll option.

Can you describe the scents of the Afterglow massage candles from Jimmyjane?
-
If your own words and from your own personal experience can you please describe what the different scents are like? I'm having trouble deciding on which ones to get. Thanks! =]

I did a review on the Afterglow Sampler set, but this is what I have with the scents.
Cucumber Water smells like a crisp, clear, watered down version of a cucumber melon scent, and is quite possibly my favorite. Pink Lotus has a decidedly floral scent to it; not overpowering but definitely there. It's hard to pinpoint anything more specific than "floral" for me on that one. Truffle + Gardenia (the special edition one, also available as a regular Ember candle) is also hard for me to pinpoint. It smells like an earthy floral to me, a more involved scent. Bourbon smells sweet to me, almost like molasses or something else I'd bake with. Dark Vanilla still smells like a generic "vanilla cookie" scent to me. And Grapefruit. To me, there's a hint of citrus and a whole lot more of something I can't put my finger on. When I first smelled it I thought back to the Habanero + Grapefruit mini Ember I have, only this is a little less spicy to the nose. JJ claims notes of grapefruit, bell peppers, and mandarin for this one. -
Thanks! I think the ones I want to try most are Dark Vanilla, Cucumber Water, and the Truffle Gardenia... and the Bourbon. Jeez I want to smell them all. Choosing which to buy online is difficult but I'm sure whichever one I choose I'll love it anyway. =]

Afterglow Packaging

I was just curious - Jimmyjane has changed the style of the Afterglow candle to the "pour spout" that's rocked by the Ember. Is EF still selling the old style with the brush as indicated by the picture?
FYI I'm in favor of the pour divot format! -
This is something I'd like to know, too. *Bump*
-
The new version features a spout for easy pouring and that is what currently available on EF.

Thank you for viewing Afterglow – massage candle review page!

Great review, thanks.
Awesome review! Thanks!
Great review! I will have to consider this candle.
Great review! I 'm going to be getting the sampler set to test out which scents I like most before I buy the bigger ones. I do wonder if this is the only one that comes with the brush anymore
I love massage candles. Great review
awesome review! i love these candles
Great review! You said that the smell fills the room, but would you say it's a "strong" scent? I like scented things as long as they aren't overwhelming.
No, not at all. I think the scent is very light. It take some time, but by the time it is ready to use you can smell it. My living room has a big doorway into the dining room and I was in the kitchen for awhile and came into the dining room and could smell it all the way in there.
Love the JimmyJane candles! Haven't tried this scent, will have to get it!
Have you tried other scents? Are the matches regular matches or cheap ones? What is the brush made out of?
Thanks for the review?
@ Diabolical Kitty,
I haven't tried the other scents yet, but I plan too. The matches are the little wooden ones, so there the good ones. It doesn't really say what the brush is made out of , but I would say that its just like a makeup brush that you use to apply blush. It does say in the cleaning instructions you can clean it with makeup remover, so if you can use a makeup brush it should be fine on your skin.
Great review!
Great review, I want this candle, now!
