Use

The Hitachi Magic Wand is surely a classic. This bad boy is like the Cadillac of the sex toy world. The great thing about the Hitachi is that it isn't just a sex toy! If you ever need to relax, just grab this and massage away your tension!

The most widely known use of the Hitachi is clitoral stimulation. It is amazingly powerful! I wouldn't suggest this one to beginners, or anyone who is particularly sensitive down there, as it might be too much. There are a lot of attachments that you can use with the Hitachi that are made for internal use, so the Hitachi is very versatile. It can also be used for all over body massage, which is the intended use of it.

You can use this alone, or have a partner use it on you. No matter who you are, you'll find the Hitachi to be a powerhouse for relaxing sore muscles and getting you off. It is fairly loud, but it is a massager. You'll probably be able to pass it off as "masssage time". It's not waterproof, either. No shower play.

Material / Texture

The Hitachi is made of plastic. The head of it is very smooth, without any added texture. This makes it great for using all over the body, as it doesn't have a huge amount of grab to it. The heads are known to be pretty porous, so if you plan on using this for genital stimulation. it would be a great idea to throw a silicone sleeve or something over it.

It didn't have much of a smell to it, either. Plastic is great for that.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy is a powerhouse because of the size. It measures 12" from top to bottom. It's not the most discreet toy in size, but it is technically a massager, so it doesn't look suspicious. The large head of the toy lets it have a wider range of vibration over a larger area. Because of the power level, I would highly suggest that users have a bit of experience with toys before they go in for this one.

As for travel, it is pretty bulky. However, it probably won't raise any eyebrows if someone sneaks a peek at it.
    • Discreet look/design
    • Partner play

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Hitachi plugs into the wall, so it doesn't need batteries or have to be recharged. The power cord is a little short, so you may not have a lot of range, but this can be easily remedied with an extension cord. On the body of the massager, there is a switch. There is a high and low speed that can be controlled by pressing the switch up or down. The vibrations are located in the head of the toy, with very little of them traveling down the body, so it won't numb your hands.

For most people, low is all you need, but it is really great to have the option to take things to an even more intense level. The vibrations are very rumbly an deeply penetrating. If you find them to be too much, you can try to buffer them with one of the attachments, or with a piece of cloth.

The noise is a bit high. It can be heard through a closed door, but then again, you're just giving yourself a massage, right?

The toy is not waterproof! Don't take this in the shower or bath with you!
    • Easy to use
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

Care for the Hitachi is easy. Wipe the head and base with a slightly damp or soapy cloth. You can use mild soap or toy cleaner. Rinse with a clean cloth and dry. The head part can be removed if you wish to clean that alone. Toy wipes make this super quick and easy.

Plastic is compatible with all types of lubes. Just make sure not to get lube on the electrical components, in the button area, or on the cord.

You can store the Hitachi just about anywhere. I would suggest covering the head of it with a plastic bag to prevent it from getting dirty.

Packaging

The Hitachi comes in a long, cardboard box that is perfect for storage. Just make sure to clean the toy before and after you store it in the box, or cover the head with a small plastic bag.

Personal comments

At first, I was a little hesitant to get a Hitachi because I feel like I'd never go back to using anything else! I'm very happy with this, though. I really love that it helps he hurry up and finish, and that I can use it for a deep, relaxing massage after I get home from work.
Follow-up commentary
Can I just tell you . . . how much I love this thing? It gets me from 0 to orgasm in about two minutes on low speed without even removing my underwear! It's just that intense! It's got me sneaking a little bit of time for myself here and there because it's super quick. I can get it out of my box, do my thing, and then have it back in the box in under 5 minutes. It's great for when you just need your business handled. It's also incredibly handy for soothing menstrual cramps.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

  • Universal
    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

  • Hitachi
    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
