Hitachi, take me away

The Hitachi magic wand is a fun, though sometimes overwhelming, sex toy. Don't forget about its original purpose though; after a hard day, the magic this vibrator can do to tense muscles is worth the price alone!

Pros:
Always ready to knock your socks off, this vibrator has a lot to offer.
Cons:
May be too intense for some, can be difficult to clean.

extremely useful review
My first experience with a Hitachi wasn't with my own. I was flat on my back on the floor when we began, and to this day I swear if I had managed to scoot backwards one foot to the right of where I ended up, I would have missed the wall, made it through the doorway, and ended up down the hall in the kitchen, all the while arching my hips up to try to get closer to the fabulously overwhelming machine I was trying to escape.

It's that sort of toy.

The Hitachi vibrator is best described in one word: intense. It has two settings, but I wouldn't call them "low" and "high"- more like "woah" and "eep!". I use mine almost exclusively on the lower setting, as that one has a slight pulsing to it that the higher, more buzz setting does not. A plug in vibe, the Hitachi will never run out of batteries or slow down its rhythm at an inopportune moment, though you'll have to find another way to pass the time when the power goes out. The six foot cord is long enough for me to run it from the outlet behind my bed, up over the headboard, and between my legs, but it isn't long enough to go any further than that, so if you want real versatility with a lover and your Hitachi together, get an extension cord.

The head of it is textured, which means it can be difficult to clean easily. I use a condom over it if I'm using it on someone else or inside of me (to avoid catching anything on the working bits), and simply pull the head off the body when I clean it so I can scrub with soap and water without worry of getting water into the working parts. I don't find the texture noticeable once it is on, but for some it might be too rough. Again, a thicker condom (such as almost any brand of Trojan) can solve that problem for you.

I find that when I play with this vibrator, I need to start lower, letting the vibration move up the labia and get things going, before actually getting into Hitachi-clit action. Even at the end, I'm usually putting this vibrator next to my clitoris rather than on it, or tapping it gently against myself rather than letting it rest. The Hitachi does get hot after 15 minutes or so, but I've had it running for upwards of 90 minutes without that causing any noticeable problems. The head itself is insulated enough that your private parts don't feel the heat, just the hand working the tool.

I can't detect any scent or taste to this toy, which is nice, and I've never had a problem with lube interactions, though I admit I don't use much on it. The head seems to be plastic, but is a squishy low-porosity foam inside. It's loud, which may be an issue for you, but you can always claim you are using it as a massager, as it is *really* good for that use.

I've put mine through its paces for many a night now, and it is still going strong with no trouble. Sturdy and versatile, this one is a must in every collection.
Experience
There are several tricks that I've learned while using this with lovers:

Try having your partner insert several fingers into your vagina, and rest their thumb on your clitoris (pinkie finger resting against the anus is optional); then run the Hitachi magic wand vibrator, on high, over their knuckles. Tada, instant vibrating hand!

For the very experienced player, assume cat style position (similar to doggie style, but with your chest resting on the bed), place the condom-covered Hitachi inside you (as if being fisted by the vibrator), and have your partner enter you anally. You get a remarkably full DP sensation, he gets vibration inside of you. This may require some work to find the best position for you both, but is worth it if you can manage it.

If you use rope in your play, remember that vibrations travel well; especially over well placed knots.

Great review! I like that idea for the "vibrating hand" technique I guess I will have to break down and buy a Hitachi after all these years using sex toys.

Awesome review! We do the vibrating hand trick a lot too, because this is just so strong. I wound up getting a controller for the wand so that I can now change the speeds and make it much less intense. Awesome.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

  • Universal
    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

  • Hitachi
    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
